Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #29

Something is puzzling me...

Where do the Nords bury their deads? There are barrows and graveyards, but they are all ancient, and haunted by Draugrs. Did they cease to bury their lost relatives?

There are Halls of the Dead in every city. That's where they are buried. Never done Namira's quest, or the one where you have to return some chick's dagger that belonged to her father?

I have been thinking about a wish list of content I would like to see, I do not expect to see this and I sure everyone has their own ideas however this is mine.

Spell making alter
More spells
More daedra
More Creatures
More randomness in the spawns, we fight the same enemies ever game.
More guild quests for existing guilds.
At least two new guilds who oppose each other and have a long hand crafted quest line, similar to Shivering isles.
Book shops, and other shops.
A new land mass, outside of Skyrim. I really do not want them to go underground, it would seem a little cheap when their is at least 3 provinces people want to go to. Morrowind the main land bit, Hammerfell and High Rock. I would not expect all of it however at least two cities maybe.
Scaling magic, I use mods for this but the poor console players have nothing.
Bring back many of the old spells you have been getting rid of please. Mods have done some of this, but you just removed magic basically from Skyrim. Or it seems that way with the ABC spells system.
More quests with the daedra, maybe let us seem one daedra from each of their realms.
More information about dragons, we have just killed Alduin so they are leader less. Does the Dragon Born become their leader and make a dragon cult?
less eye candy and more interactions. A example might be teachers of spell schools that teach you information on them.
Fix of other bugs.
More types of Weapons, a example would be spears and short swords.
More of a consequence for being a vampire.
Ability to disguise ones self.

I want these ideas

Judging from the fresh food and that side quest involving a family tomb, at least the upper levels of the burials are still visited.

One of the intro screens suggested that Dragon priests and Draugr are returning to life en-mass only recently and nobody knows why. Maybe it's connected to Aluduin's return. One would think that normally only a few Draugr patrol the tombs like the Skeletons use to roam Morrowind Tombs to protect them from defilers.

You are right, I am sorry for my mistake. I hadn't visited them for long (except the one in Markarth). I need to go back here once... Yet some ceremonies would be fine...

I hope if the DLC is placed anywhere in the sea of ghosts that they change the water.
i avoid the coast because of the way it transitions to land, it looks awful, and it does not look very coastal because its rather stagnant.
animated water mesh with actual waves would go a long way.

So much yes! I want to see waves shattering on the ice and rocks during a stormy night, and hear them roar and moan, up to the point I begin to fear that what I hear isn't waves, but maybe the infamous Shrieking Winds spawned by Lamae Beolfag !

I hope the DLC is not some boat/water DLC. I think that could be the most boring ever, sail over here then over their lol. I would rather have a land mass somewhere populated, and I think a great place to go would be Morrowind. You have the Argonians invading and the island in the middle is unusable currently. So that leaves the main land which you could gain easy access to.

Err, could you provide a source (unless it would be an infringement of the forum rules, in which case don't...)? I thought this guy would only attend the 30 minutes hands-on during the E3...

Bethesda WILL show a 30 min footage at e3 behind closed doors. Nobody has seen anything yet.

I would love to meet the Dragon priest Konahrik, and the former wielder of the Wooden Mask, either as opponents or as a questgivers.

Also, according to the Editor IDs of the Masks, one of them is supposed to be made of bronze, and another of marble. So I'd like to be able to use bronze and marble in smithing.

I would also lile to get Alduin's "Dragon Storm Call" shout and the Greybeards' "Fiik Lo Sah" shout. A poisonous breath and a thunder breath would be nice too...

I'm hoping for features instead of Dungeons and such: werewolf/vampire perk trees, extra enemies, more daedra, some artifacts as well, I do expect them to make that screen SSAO available as optional, alongside with the new water shaders as shown on the jam. I believe there will be a landmass(probably Hammerfell) as well but not much beyond this.

this.

when is e3... i cant wait to find out what dawnguards all about.

~VAMPIRE IDEA~

OH MY GOD !!!!! just had a wicked idea for vampires in the dlc or next installment .... vampire guilds would be awesome but there are only two guilds , one are murderous vamps who destroy and pillage , the other are more of a sympathetic/ refuge / none murderous kind that are trying to get buy and trying to adapt into society , but the murderous guild and the non-murderous guild are at war with one another .... and the good vamps have to protect villages from attacks from the bad vamps .

hmmm not sure .... might sound kinda corny and lame to some ppl , but throwing it out there anyway .
i guess i just have this image of choosing a guild , one a place of refuge from society and the other is a hunting / murderous kind .
Also maybe in future elder scrolls additions the animations of vamps could change i like the way werewolves sprint on all fours maybe the vamps should do that as well and also jump far.

ppl have different likes and dislikes from the styles of vamps that exist in fictional world one of my personal dislikes is twilights vampires and their [censored] glittering skin , i mean WTF lol ........... i think im going off track here hahaha .
keeping to the lore is also good in my opinion :)

tell me what you guys think :)

ps. i dont like twilight ..... PLZ DONT HATE ME!!!! :/

I think in the lore their was a vampire cult in Cyrodiil which was just like that, good guys of a sort. Their is a mod that adds them to the game for Oblivion, so a Cyrodiilian strain of vampires would work. However the skyrim version is ment to be very different so I am not sure it would work.

I would hope vampires in Skyrim get made better, so they can not walk into holds and up to people with out them noticing as it is meant to be. I also want a disguise for the game though so even if you are a vampire you could act normally.

I also want spears.

So if this new DLC is meant to be big it really must be a new landmass. So what big landmass could it be, or I suppose it could completely revamp the game and add stuff similar to Knight of the Nine. Where ever it is, I want the to kill lots of Thalmor and follow what happens after the main quest/civil war.

thanks :)
but i would like to see this implemented "without" adding mods :) when i mean mods i mean from ppl who arnt from bethesda , ide rather it come from bethesda because then you know its part of the jurney :).

im hoping it will be a new landmass as well ide like to visit some new place or maybe revisit cyrodill .

how do you feel about the idea of new animations for vamps ( sprinting on all fours) ?

Do vampires do that? I know they are strong so maybe sprint for longer with longer strides but I am not sure they would sprint of all fours.
I would not mind a new feeding animation for when people know you are doing it, maybe you pick them up and just bit their neck. That would be the none stealthy feeding lol.

Something is puzzling me...

Where do the Nords bury their deads? There are barrows and graveyards, but they are all ancient, and haunted by Draugrs. Did they cease to bury their lost relatives? I think it would be nice if we saw some ceremonies where late citizens are burried, or burnt. It would add to immersion, and also provide possible (possibly radiant) quest triggers. For example, some unscrupulous attendant could tell you that this dead guy had a coveted armor and ask you, whispering, to find it. As a necromancer, you could propose to a desperate widow to perpetuate her wedding in the Olenveld fashion. You could hear a rumor about a family secret, be asked to investigate about the death of the one to be burried, learn that he'll be buried with a precious amulet. Some attendant could ask you to punish someone who didn't come to the ceremony, or you could be asked by the dead's brother to find the dead's illegitimate son and either kill him or give him some amulet previously owned by his father. The attendants could be attacked by assassins... I think the possibilities are many... Wouldn't it be a nice feature for a DLC/add-on/update?

All the tombs in Morrowind were haunted or infested with people of ill repute, yet they were still very much used to inter the dead. Some tombs could even be traced to living members of the family residing on Vvardenfell. It's probably worth pointing out though, that according to Dunmer lore, most of the ghosts and undead in tombs were actually non-hostile to the family, being ancestor spirits conjured by the family members themselves, to protect the tomb.

It's not entirely unlikely that a similar situation happens in Skyrim, with much less prejudice, the walking dead will simply kill anything nearby. I think one of the quests in Skyrim actually addresses some of your concerns, The name escapes me, but you help some potential companion kill a dunmer necromancer defiling his "Family tomb".

Still, the whole thing is a lot less believable in the context of the game compared to Morrowind's ancestral tombs.

I do not know about any of that but with E3 around the corner I can not wait to hear more about the DLC. I hope it is massive and adds lots of creatures from Daggerfall http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Bestiary

I wonder if there will be an 'official' way to learn the Meteor Storm shout. Not a shout to use in populated areas (like storm call) by highly spectacular.
