Someone just tweeted that they just booked a 30-minute hands-on session with Bethesda for the Dawnguard demo at E3. We'll be hearing more soon...well, kind of soon! :tes:
Darn :cryvaultboy: I`m so jealous of that person right now  3 more weeks to wait :wallbash: till we hear something.

And it kills me that E3 is only just 7 hours south of me...

Was it just some random person or a journalist from a gaming website?

1. I don't think everyone would actually. You murder the emperor...the freaking emperor and you have to pay what like a 2500 gold fine and your free?! Murdering the emperor means, death warrant because he is the emperor. Alot of people dont think this makes sense and being in the dark brotherhood should mean your going down the path of an outlaw since your constantly murdering people left and right. You should be hunted by bounty hunters and guards every now and then. I would enjoy the thrill and challenge of being chased by guards, killing bounty hunters, and sneaking into cities to avoid the law. Its not a gameover routine that your implying. You should atleast have the ability to disguise yourself like wear a hooded cloak and not be noticed by the guards.
Yes it is gameover when the game becomes basically unplayable its game over. People would just reload if they were spotted or failed to kill all witnesses. If the consequences for failure are to great people just reload rather then experience the consequences. So they might as well have you instantly drop dead in game over if you can actually be identified as having killed the emperor. When I killed the emperor I had no bounty, either because I killed everyone on board the ship or I did it in complete stealth. Most people already reload the game for failing to pick someones pocket they'll certainly reload for a death warrant that makes you unable to play most of the game. And even though it doesn't appear properly on mails due to missing animation, one of the brotherhood cowls has a mask that obscures the face.
2. That doesnt mean there shouldnt still be a hardcoe mode ( or maybe not "hardcoe" mode but a realism mode). Pretty much when your out in the wilderness you have to look for food such as hunting animals or eating vegetables. When your in a city your pretty much going to be safe. Dude Im sure you never use beds, eat food or drink beer in this game yet they add it in the game like you freaking should! Cooking is pointless because even though you get effects that last like an hour I could easily just concoct a potion and get even better effects. Also when your deep inside a dungeon food isnt going to be found anywhere (maybe water mostly) so you may have to stock up on rations to keep yourself from going hungry or thirsty. And Skyrim's northern region is mostly dominated by frozen wasteland with few animals running around that can sustain you. And of course the cold should play a huge effect on how you survive. Also traveling on the road can be tiresome and it would be a good idea to stay at those pointless inns that dot the roads every now and then. It would help the player get deeper into the game rather than just worry about hunting dungeons and collecting loot all day. Your an adventurer, not some immortal being who doesn't go hungry, get thirsty, or not need sleep.

In New Vegas hardcoe mode's requirement for food, water and sleep basically accomplished nothing, it wasn't noticible in the slightest, ammo having weight and stimpacks healing overtime. THAT was noticible. There are plenty of animals all over skyrim that can sustain you, be they fish, honkers, bears, sabercats or wolves. And with the carry weights in the game being much higher then in Fallout having food on hand wouldn't be a problem especially with a follower. A game mechanic that enforces food and sleep will never be equal to the standard a roleplayer can enforce on themselves.

Cold can't play an effect on how you survive every character starts with the spell flames, I'm sorry but being able to summon fire into your hands solves the keeping warm problem. Especially when you can survive the freezing blast from an ancient dragon.

Things I'd like to see:

1. Buyable plots of land in the hold/city of your choice, also the ability to the buy the house you killed the owner of. Or have a different NPC move into that house so randomness doesn't kill off unique NPC's making the already vacant cities even more so. I'd like to buy the land in a hold I like, then go to the Mill in the hold and get wood, mines for ores, and so on for building materials for building a castle, tower, lair, den, massive tree fort in Falkreath or whatever I choose. Perhaps some light/heavy questing for said holds Jarl for the option to purchase land for building.

2. Spears, thrown or otherwise, shouldn't have needed a DLC for them.

3. Patron Divine/Daedric Lord to serve and gain more favor with for better artifacts, active effects, spells etc... We should be able to pick one Divine/Daedric Lord and really be their champion. Get more quests from them and get better artifacts, this also should not be limited to Daedric Lords, there should be a Divine counter-part that is available. I'm tired of end game armor making me look like a sadist, a Divine version would be better, a Daedric/Divine light armor variant would be a good idea as well.

4. More Unique looking weapons, very few axes and maces and pretty much only 1 bow that you HAVE to do a quest line to get. There are few unique weapons in general, enchantments are not a huge deal since the ones we add ourselves are generally better and last longer save maybe Dawnbreaker. Or the option to craft unique looking weapons would be nice, take some rare materials but it would be nice.

5. Just like 4 but with Armor... Ysgramors Shield, is the really only unique one and yet again you have to do an entire quest line to get it. The Ebony Mail isn't even worth the quest you have to do to get given the lack of NPC's already in the game world.

6. Smithing Cloths, Circlets and customizing. Changing Colors, adding runes/words/engravings, removing/adding parts ex. Ebony shoulder pads getting removed or at least shortened, taking some of the "fins" off the ebony gauntlets. Evening out the horns on Daedric helmets, you know that kind of thing.

7. Giving money to Jarls to make the holds better ex. repairing the run down walls in Whiterun, cleaning the waters in Riften, adding more stores/houses/people to the holds, increasing the size of the smaller holds such as Falkreath, Dawnstar, Morthal... Restoring Winterhold and so on.

There are more but this is just a small part most of which shouldn't have needed a DLC to be added if you ask me.

Everything on this list is gold! But maybe there should be a restriction of how much property you can own (I don't think that the result would turn out positive if everyone just bought everything in Skyrim)

Just to be clear the forced conversation with the possessed corpse of Boethema's cultist does count at a cutscene.
You misunderstood, I killed him when I first transformed, and there was no cutscene, he just started attacking me, and then I waited to change back to human form, and then I looted him. After that I transformed again, and then fed on him immediately after transforming, and 2 seconds later I changed back into a human.

Broken steel, after loving fallout 3, was awesome to me. It introduced one of my favorite weapons, enemys, and armor to the vanilla game. Better weapons and armor thani had used before the dlc. It made the whole game more fun. Didnt matter how many times i played through before, it was better after they were put in game (heavy incinerator, hellfire armor) im hoping beth does the same with this LONG overdue dlc.

I know that the plot on Skyrim is a little thin, but could that be in response to fans not wanting the end of the main quest to also mean the end of the game as well.
Skyrim is the first Beth game that I can remember actually offering this feature, I know FO3 did it, but that was through an expansion pack. I know F:NV did not, and one the big reasons for that was the Main Quest.
I was just wondering if maybe Bethesda looked at the work that would have gone into making a game with a deep story, and how much work it would have needed to make an option like this viable?
Maybe the story was done this way because they felt like the work hours would have better spent elsewhere, and buy their own admittance, they have a lot of different options already packed in, which they say is one of the reasons that there are some many bugs? Because they don't have enough people to test everything/every way?
Just a random thought, I apologize for my grammer is some spots, chock it up to no coffee yet

I actually think this DLC won't be centered around Dawnstar, it would be a bit pointless... IF they're gonna center a DLC around an already existing place Helgen or Winterhold would make much more sense. And the changes are big that we'll be getting new landscapes..

Sorry I had a Lapsus , I meand Dawnguard , not Dawnstar ... anyway any other news?

I orignally posted some of this on another forum. The topic was What do you expect in Dawngaurd. I did not directly reply to that but provided the following:
I would love to visit Cyrodill once again. To see what Cheydinhall and Leyawiin look like, Kvatch, the Imperial City even.
Bethesda would have my worship if they worked on a huge social DLC. With the ability to make cities and put a follower in command as Jarl perhaps so that the city work is not placed on you making the DLC more possible. With the option to buy large estates in the city and maybe a tavern and stable to allow more income. With a random rate of rising and falling profit from the places you invested in. So it could take a turn for the worse where you owe money or get money. If you do not pay up you could have mercenaries on you to collect the debt or die. Except make them hard to fight unlike other mercenaries/bounty hunters.

The ability to change your hair and war paint with certain things owned or people known by you. Similar to Pinkerton in Fallout 3 and your Mr. Handy house robot.

It does seem like a lengthy and time consuming DLC. With that said it would so greatly pay off, with Skyrim's release. Bethesda has gained many more players to their games. I for one have played since Oblivion but have gone back to all the other games in Elderscrolls and Fallout.

I would also like to voice my concerns on a few matters.

The Elderscrolls Online is a horrible idea. The majority of people asking for it do not truly know what an MMO is and how they run. I knew many people saying it would make Skyrim better. They expected it to be a DLC and for consoles. The main want for a Elderscroll MMO is the graphics and we all know an MMO with Skyrim's graphics and diversity would take years, and of course an overly expensive rig. Mortal Online is a perfect example of so.

Also, Skyrim did not have item condition. I udnerstand its' removal from the Elderscrolls but I fear it may be like that in Fallout 4. Which will greatly disappoint me. Repairing so greatly fits the Fallout theme and increases challenge. I would like to know if it was thought to be kept from future games of both series.

That is all.

Sincerely,
Uri

EDIT: I would also like a large war with the Thalmor. The Civil War was excellent but some of the sieges were too short. I would like a large open battlefield that could take an hour or more to finish and even longer on Master difficulty.

So we can reasonably think that 30 minutes of Dawnguard is just merely a glimpse on what it offers?

I think something huge and mind-blowing is coming... :D

Blug.. I wish I didn't read this.. this sounds so good that from now on the changes are high that I can only be dissapointed... :(

Well, we only had a few weeks to build these theories from very little information, while the devs had months to create a DLC with a total access to the lore, and to all the ideas and wishes we expressed on the forum. Moreover, the Devs have proved being very creative and talented. I think we shouldn't worry. Their team most likely crafted a story (and hopefully, a piece of world) which is better than anything we imagined or hoped here...

I keep haveing very high expectations for this DLC. They have millions of fans looking forward to it, they won't disappoint us.
