Face it. Vampires are used a million times more than mutated, sightless, monstrous elves.

It's not a matter of point of view. Vampires are over-used, with a variety of meanings in all form of entertainment to the point where they don't really have a meaning anymore. I don't recall seeing Snow Elves before, especially not like how Bethesda portrays them.
Yet there are people that want to see vampire-related content. Same as for the Snow Elves. Frankly, Bethesda already have too many cliches. Generic fantasy world, dragons, swords and magic, alchemy, elves. Elves have been done to death, so are dragons. RPGs started off with Dungeons & Dragons. I don't mind the Snow Elves, as long as it is not the main part of the story.

Face it. Vampires are used a million times more than mutated, sightless, monstrous elves.
So are prophezied heroes destined to save the world from an impending doom. Your point?

I guess there is no argument for this one.

I never said it wasn't. I'm arguing against Vampire Werewolf's post that said Vampires aren't used more than... most things on this world. You pulled a random, unrelated statement out. I don't see how that has anything to do with the matter at hand.

Never did I say that vampires aren't more used than something. I just said that elves are cliche. Do not twist the meaning of what I said.

And it my statement does have to do with the matter of hand; that Bethesda has many cliches in their franchise. Vampires are no different than dragons, elves, swords and magics. Snow Elves are still elves, and elves have been done to death.

This. It's simple. If someone doesn't like it, don't play it. So what if vampires are going to be in the DLC? Chances are they won't even be the main gist. If they are, then who cares? Dragons got the spotlight before.

Yes elves are cliche. But not as much as Vampires. But I guess sometimes, cliches are cool. I like vampires (not as much since twilight came out honestly). I don't know why i'm championing somebody elses statement right now anyway.

Anyway, I want spears. Now that there's horse combat i feel like there's a chance for spears.

The Snow Elves are only generic by the name. Everything else about them is unique to Skyrim. Whereas the vampires are just plain generic through and through.

And I don't really care if they are in the DLC or not.

This much I would agree on. Sadly, vampires got a bad reputation ever since Twilight was released. The name vampire or werewolf cannot even be mentioned without someone pointing fingers to relate them to Twilight. I don't know, maybe I want the DLC to be vampire-centric so it can mask the scent of folklore gone to [censored].

Sure, cliches can be cool, but there needs to be some uniqueness to it. At this point, Bethesda seems to be going Underworld with their vampires. But I have faith that there will be some oddities in their vampire content.

It is sadly true that people cannot say vampire or werewolf without someone saying something about Twilight, but that will change in a few years I think.
Where do you get the idea they are heading in the Underworld direction with their vampires? Do you mean because of the Vampire Lord?

It's not so much JUST Twilight... Twilight made the vampire genre overwhelming. The vampire genre has cornered the market in the entertainment industry.

Remember kids, if something modern today adds vampires or werewolves, it's because the company wants to cash in from the Twilight buzz!

Now I do not want to take sides or tend to the flames but just to get a point out there: You guys do realize that werewolves and vampires have been around even before Morrowind and for thousands of years IRL? Just checkin'...

If you dig deep enough and are pessimistic enough, everything in a fantasy setting can be seen as "clichè" and done before. Heck, if you look at almost any story most of the things have been done thousands of times since the Epic of Gilgamesh. There are very few new ideas, and fewer good ones. Most ideas are just accumulated knowledge, or combinations of older ones. The point is, what's important isn't if it's been done before, but how it's being done now. The lore on vampires in TES is pretty cool and arguably unique. Vampires taking over children's bodies and living in their families, feral beasts moving through solid ice. Their issue is their portrayl in the game, not the idea itself. Snow elves have been done before, but bethesda put a unique spin on it for Skyrim, hopefully their new vampires will do the same. Seeing a clip of a prototype of a single vampire lord because it looks familiar isn't grounds to start complaiming over how cliche it will be

REALLY?! I never would have guessed... I think everyone here knows that, unless you are like 5 years old, and you have only seen the Twilight movies.

No need to be sarcastic. Besides, you would be shocked at the idiocy I have seen...

I was talking about in mythology, I never said they were real if that is what you meant...

Whatever that means... Seriously, I don't get what you mean?

Meaning: Twilight brought flocks and flocks of angst, scenester teenagers to the book stores and to the theaters earning itself lots and lots of money. The entertainment industry saw this and decided to profit by making television shows and books about vampires... So, now, everywhere you turn, it's vampire this and vampire that. It's truly overwhelming.

He's talking about mythology. Vampires and Lycanthropes have been around for ages in mythology, and anyone that claims the only reason something has either species in it is to cash in on the twilight buzz is a moron and needs to turn off their PC and go outside for a few hours. Saying TES using Vampires is because of Twilight would be the same as saying anything with magic in it is trying to cash in on Harry Potter fans.

...also, are you guys seriously complaining about elves? Come on, I thought you lot were better then this.

Then again, you are arguing over sparkly forest fairies and vampires. -_-
