Dawnguard available in English or just in english regions?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:22 am

I have the PAL/Uk version of Skyrim (so, in english) for Xbox 360 and I want to download the english version of Dawnguard, of course. But I don't find it :|

Maybe because I have an italian account? So I must to wait and download the ITALIAN ( ) version??

Please, tell me that it isn't so...

I'm in the same situation, only I'm from another country. As things look, it seems more important from where your account is. So, if you have an english Skyrim edition but italian, german (accounts from Switzerland and Austria also fall under german players...), spanish or french account you have to wait, even if you have the international release edition.
Really classy Bethesda, annoucing that Dawnguard will be late for these countries two days before Dawnguard, giving the middle finger to all players who bought the international release because they excactly expected this [censored].
Really disappointed, if they try to force the german version of the DLC on me I'm not going to get it. Really, really bad marketing.

the problem also is that it's impossible to change the region of the account! I already ask to Microsoft Support and they told me that I must to create a new account :| I can't believe it...

Dutch account here with the game in English. Playing Dawnguard right now, well it is on pause now. I'm not Dutch myself but happen to live here so I set my account to Dutch.

Edit- wait a minute so only Germans, Spanish etc. accounts? Wow sorry to hear.
You guys are basically forced to play the horrible dubbed version?

Yes, players from sweden can also already play. The problem solely lies here in the fact that Dawnguard is effectively blocked on xbox.com if you have an italian, spanish, french and german account. I don't know how other countries are affected by this, since austria and switzerland both fall under the german domain, which is pretty awful, since I bought an english edition because I expected that something like this may happen in the long run, still didn't help.
I'm okay with waiting for the game, first weeks of dawnguard are going to be embarrassingly buggy anyway, It's just the uncertainty that I'll only be able to download the german version, which as someone who played the terrible german oblivion edition is something I won't accept.

I have no problems waiting. I just have problems playing in a different language.

If I download from here, it works in english?

I already tried downloading from xbox.com. When I was on this exact page and logged in to purchase it there, it just told me it's not available to me in german. Usually, in the link bar you can see under which category your account falls under. Mine is DE-CH, so I fall under germany, despite having the international release. If you have it, fr, or es up there, you'll have to wait. Only thing we can do is cross our fingers that we will be able to download this in english in a few weeks.

I doubt that it will be so :\ I'm sure they will release the DLC only with one language (in my case, italian), like the original game. And I don't know what to do. Maybe I must to wait for a DLC pack retail, so I can buy it from UK (as I've done for Skyrim)...but it isn't sure.

If you want, i could give you a 48 hour xbox live gold code and you could create a new account with a new region and try downloading it?

Edit: I'm not sure if that is possible though? Do you think that would work?

I don't know, but the Live Gold is not necessary. Microsoft Points are necessary on the account and if I create a new one, I can't use my MP :\

Same here. I live in spain, but I got an english copy of the game to spare me the awful spanish dubbing and now it seems I'm going to be stuck with it.

Would it even work with a disc in another language?

I wouldn't be too pessimistic. They may have not provided us with a good solution for the release date, but I doubt they are going to ignore all the german, italian, spanish and french customers who own an english game and want to have the english DLC. They can't just throw all of us in the cold water.
Well, at least I hope not. I just hope Bethesda is aware of all this...

I do have an US account but it won't allow me to download, maybe the content is blocked by the IP address and not the account. Unfortunately I can't use a proxy to check this.

Ahh yeah i didn't think about that. Man i feel bad for you :/ but dont worry its only DLC and I'm sure they will do something about it soon. There is no way they could let something like your situation pass by.

You're an optimistic guy :D when, in November, I asked for a DLC with the english audio (so, not difficult to realize, I guess), they said to me that it's impossible. I think the only hope is a DLC retail pack, so we can buy it from UK. But who knows when...

Man, I wish we would just get an official statement from someone like Gstaff, just to know what's happening. If I'm forced to play this DLC in german, I'm just going to wait until Dawnguard is out on pc, upgrade my PC (I was going to do that anyway, so I might just get it ready for Skyrim) and just play it that way. At least in the PC edition I would be able to finally remove all the items I picked up during the bards quests, instead of waiting almost half a year for an incredibly simple bugfix (that still didn't come out, btw.)
Edit: let's just keep talking here to keep the topic on top of the first page, so that we may just get their attention *g*

From Chile here (south america for the ignorants) ;)
English version only.
Can't find the dawnguard download too :(

I can't believe this, it's like Bethesda is making a great effort on being mediocre... my god.

Honestly, what were they even thinking when they arranged things to be this way?
I don't see a single logical reason why it has to be like this, is it that hard to program it in such way that I have the access to the english edition? It's out there, and I just can't get to it because of a pointless region block that shouldn't affect my region anyway. I mean, I don't download that much DLCs, but shouldn't this be common business practice? Feels really discouraging to not even get bare bones for consumer support, not even a "We'll get to it/we will be investigating this case" from any staff member.
This is almost capcom level of customer treatment.

Im from Chile too, and i have the same problem
However the DLC has been out for a few hours only, so i can undestand that its not avaliable ''yet'', Im just hoping that it will be eventually.

It would be nice to get an answer from the staff too, just to let us know that they are there.

seconded

Same Problem here. I live in Austria, bought Skyrim while in the UK. Today: No Dawnguard for me. Have to wait and to download the german version. (Region-locking the different marketplaces in the EU (trade union) makes so much sense. /s )

Let's hope it won't be german/italian/spanish/french only :yuck: and playable in english as well. Would make for strange conversations if all dlc-lines are in a different language than the main game.
