Dawnguard available in English or just in english regions?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:20 am

I have the PAL/Uk version of Skyrim (so, in english) for Xbox 360 and I want to download the english version of Dawnguard, of course. But I don't find it :|

Maybe because I have an italian account? So I must to wait and download the ITALIAN ( ) version??

Please, tell me that it isn't so...

That should not be a problem because the size is not different for english people... we just live on south america and other people lives outside USA and Canada, but we have the exact same game... it's ridiculous :(

Of course the file size isn't different for english people, but it would be bigger if a DLC as dialog heavy as Dawnguard shipped with english, german, french, italian etc etc. But yeah, my heart goes out to any and all who have this dilema.

I hope they find a solution because usually italian translations svck, and acting is even worse! I don't think I'll buy Dawnguard if I know I'll have to play it in italian.

Yup. like in most of the cases the original version is the best refering to translations. Usually in the other languages the voices sounds like just "reading" the script :/
I would love translation on the subtitles/texts thought... i would really love that :(

Good to hear! :)
Italy here and I really hope that too thanks...
Fortunately their response to you south americans brothers was really quick (less than 48hs I think?) and they solved the problem, so I hope they'll do the same thing with us good'ol europeans :)

Well, as long as we're talking about films, cinema and television Italy has the best dubbing industry in the world, no doubt of that! Ever heard Tom Cruise's real voice?! Maan! :-O

But for videogames, well, that isn't so true, Gears of War 1 and 2 italian dubbin was really good (at least as the original ones, even better sometimes), Halo series was ok I guess...and so on, what videogame translations and localisations lack are not good or experienced actors but communication and sharing info with the software house and the publisher, actors just find themselves in the booth with no idea of what's going on in the game and about the characters. They just read the line and that's it, because the directors have no idea of what is going on in the game or in the scene.

I liked the italian VO for the Dawnguard trailer wich I think is even better than the english one (good actor, darker and deeper voice compared to the original) but that was a 30 second teaser. Having the original game in english just makes no sense playing the DLC in italian!
I did this with fallut 3, I had the game in italian and all the DLCs in english and it was pretty ridiculous...(and made me notice how much original VO was better...)

Actually my comment was reserved only to the italian videogames industry. Cannot complain about movies and TV series. But in videogames...I find it awful. I played Mass Effect 1 in italian, and I wanted to cry. A game like that is all about the plot, and that means that actors must necessarily be good actors. Not to mention the translation errors! I'll never forget that in Gothic 3 the sentence "I won't let you down" was translated with "Non ti lascerò giù!" (meaning "I will not leave you downstairs" more or less).

South America was in a completely different siuation though, your problem was caused because apperantly both Microsoft and Bethesda didn't prepare South America for release.
Europe (France, Italy, Germany and Spain, short FIGS) though already got an official statement from Bethesda that they'll have to wait (probably to polish the localisation, since these countries are also the only ones in europe who have their own language release) until mid-july, so we who have xBox Live accounts that belong to FIGS (or a country that has FIGS languages, like Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg etc.) probably won't get the DLC in time, doesn't matter that we have imported UK/US editions or bought their international release.
Also no real reason to bump this anymore, Gstaff already told me and Giant Reptil that he'll see what answers he can get, and we pretty much represent both sides of the coin (Reptil who has an italian account and UK version, I think, and me from switzerland, with a german-swiss account and an international release), so we'll just tell you guys what's going on anyway if something new happens, but thanks for the support.
The best Giant Reptil can hope for is a dual-language DLC or some kind of patch that eliminates the language problem , and I just for an answer on the subject if I can download the english DLC with my international relase version and swiss-german account around release date.

No, really: have I missed something? Is there a solution that I haven't heard of? Because looks like nobody's talking about it any more.
What am I supposed to do with my english version, on italian territory? What's gonna happen when the italian DLC will be released? Will I be able to download even the english one?
Because in no way I'm gonna buy the italian one and risk messing up my game...
Therefore if there's no solution, I won't be able to buy this DLC or any other coming in the future.

Any answers? Pretty please?

And by the way the italian dubbing its not so bad,it wouldn't be a problem for me being forced to playin' the dlc that way

Reading from Pete Hines on Twitter before Skyrim released, you can't play the English version in a non Eng territory in a legit way.

It isn't a matter of being good, or bad. Above all is a matter of playing the original product as it was meant to be.
With the original actors, not 5 semi-pro italian actors who sound flat, like thery're reading their lines.
A dubbed product (movie, game, whatever) will never be the same, no matter how good it might be, anyway.
I've put up with dubbed versions of Oblivion, Fallout 3, they are not bad, but the original is on another league.
This time I've bought the english version of the game because i didn't want to "put up" anymore.
The english version works perfectly on my XBOX, I haven't been banned from XBOX live for playing it, so it means it's legit for me to have it, therefore it's ridiculous that now it isn't supported and i can't get the matching DLC.
Finally, most of my other games are UK version and I've always been able to download the matching, proper DLCs
I've also been able to download Skyrim's patches when the english version was available, so there's a sort of contradiction here: I had the 1.6 patch weeks before the italian version of the game, now with the DLC I have to wait for the wrong one!

And, even if i decided to download the italian DLC, would it work with my english game? I have a feeling it would mess up things a bit.
Even if it worked, i'd have to put up with mixed languages dialogues, destroying the atmosphere and suspension of disbelief...

If it's legit for me to play the PAL-UK game, then I expect it to be properly supported.
Also, I don't remember having any trouble downloading the original english DLC for other games...

I don't need your explanations,i've already understood what you were saying dude....no one have forced you to buy the game in english, and no one forces you to buy dawnguard
You want to play it ? Well, then you've to respect bethesda decision and live with it....

P.s. i prefer watchin' movies and playin' games in the original language,so i've buyed skyrim even for pc where i have total freedom of choice

well, play the game half in english and half in italian is not a great thing, I guess...and anyway I'm not sure that it works.

Wrong: the italian limited edition is ONLY in english. Doesn't exists a limited edition in italian.

And anyway, even if it's good for you, probably it isn't good for others (like me)
