Skyrim is still a great game although it does have it's problems. The writing being one of the main issues that I have with Skyrim, I'm able to ignore it but others might not be able too.

To my opinion Skyrim had only 1 problem !

The commercialization priority ...

the Insane idea of getting the game out too early on the 11 11 11 , when obviously it was not yet ready and all the features they showed like the Game jam was stuff that simply should have been put in the game already at launch ... why having not the kill cams formagic and archery and implement later? this stuff probably had to be implemented in the game since beginning but was not , so all the many other features implemented and never developed ... like the fabled dynamic snow , the underwater effects , the ambient occlusion , lances and many other stuff ....

Shareholders have no say in design decisions.

And Bethesda doesn't even have shareholders. They are owned by Zenimax Media, that is a privately owned company.

So, the teams design decisions are their own. For better or worse.

There are a lot of WTF design decisions, but it's still good. Not up to par with previous titles, though

I wouldn't say they "Dropped the Ball" with Skyrim. They stumbled a little bit, and it cost them bleeding perfection. But it's certainly a better game than Dark Souls or Kingdoms of Alamur and Mass Effect 3.
Maybe, But worse in Oblivion in my humble opinion. Too much stuff they removed

I find Skyrim to be a bit shallower than Oblivion, and this is with dragons and Oblivion Gates included.

I don't know. My experience with Oblivion was a great one. It had a few quirks here and there, and the first time I played was with the lowest graphics quality and no mods, so this is not about graphics or something

Graphically speaking, Skyrim is infinitely better. Many wondered how did the bandits know the existence of a cow (and pregnant at that!) while there is no livestock whatsoever in Cyrodiil?

Skyrim put me in awe, but something is just lacking.

The individual stories doesn't seem to be unique. In Oblivion, you had to unite lost twins, make impressions on every mages Guild branch, impress the Skill Masters before they will teach you, and stuff. Some boils down to "do this, kill these" but each had awesome background story

The individual quests in Skyrim is more realistic: not everybody had a problem in which you become a hero of great renown, ad everybody generally face the same problem, but that's exactly what made it boring

But still... I feel that directing hatred in such a way toward Todd borders on cyber bullying...

Hey guys,

sorry to bother but since i played all tes games i only want to say one thing:

Skyrim is AMAZING!!!!!

I read some post that now its Todd's fault if the game is not appreciated by a numbers of gamers...well u know there is another part of gamers who loved what Todd decided to make in this game.
Anyway there will always be some unhappy gamers and there will be always some happy gamers thats life right?

And btw Oblivion was a game, Skyrim is an experience...

Nonsense. Todd deserves to be called on his decisions when they are particularly poor. He was the director of this game and holds a responsibility Skyrim both good and bad.

The see what you should see approach to LOD, great!

The dragons, near perfect.

The removal of spellmaking [Todd's own "spreadsheety" comment] and horrible balance [completely in the realm of the director's job] = Todd... WTF!?!

I dont really mind a couple of skill drops because perks made up for it. What i mind, is shorter and less quests. But meh. Spose not every game can be perfect.

5 things!
All we need is 5 things to make Skyrim as good as previous TES.

1. Longer, more thought out quests. Esspecially guilds.
2. Less of an epic character feel. Make us feel like a smelly old prisoner at the start and make us build our way up to the top.
3. More lore.
4. more in depth npc's. prehapes bringing back text dialogue wouldnt be such a bad thing?
5. No more of this play who you are stuff. I liked the old choose a build right from the start type gameplay. made me feel more emmersed.
Just a little extra one as well. drop smithing.

Now this is completely my own opinion and you can critizise it as much as you want. Ohh yea and skyrim is still a amazing game. just doesnt quite stand up to the previous titles.

The same debate/questions are being asked in the Diablo 3 forums, since D3 is very different from D2. Every little thing that is different is being nitpicked to death by some players, and now that we have a release date for D3, some discussions are really heating up.

I guess it's really hard for some people to adjust to new/different things.

It's interesting to see players make statements like "if you don't change this back to the way it was in D2, I'm not buying this game."

Kind of makes me wonder how they handle issues in real life.

You basically summed up my thoughts on the matter.
Skyrim used new features. Want the old features? Play an old game. If Bethesda hadn't tried new things in the past, the company would have shut down years ago.

Wrong.
Skyrim is NOT amazing, and Skyrim is just a game like Oblivion.
Daggerfall and Morrowind are an experience... an experience of an amazing and deep world.
Also, don't give me that crap about opinions since I don't listen to junk like that.
Yes, everyone has its own opinion, but the fact is that some opinions are simply better than others (like mine is from yours, for example).

For me, Skyrim IS an experience. True, the game is not flawless, but neither was Morrowind, Daggerfall or any game in history.
And what makes YOUR opinion worth more than anyone else's? I think Skyrim is the best elder scrolls game to date, but I respect that you have an opinion. I don't agree with your opinion, but I don't think of mine as 'better' than yours. And I'm sure that neither does the person you were replying to.

I can agree with most of this, but text dialog? Quit living in the past. We can have voiced dialog and still have in depth npc's, New Vegas is a pretty damn good example of this...of course it does come with a price, but it's a price I'd gladly pay.

Drop smithing, are you kidding? That was one of the few things that I actually like about recent changes. If anything, they should be dropping pickpocketing, possibly even lockpicking. At the very least maybe merge them both into the sneak skill with the appropriate perks for them. Those two skills IMO are better left as sub skills. Removing/merging those skills opens up the possibility of restoring a far more useful skill that many more sorely miss from previous games... Spellmaking. I'd much rather have spellmaking, than pickpocketing or even lockpick any day.

If you think that you should visit BioWare forums. They had to enact an insta-ban policy due to all the insults and worse being thrown at their devs. Todd receives friendly jabs compared to that ^_^

Yeah. But then again Howard never really convinced me that he can design a solid rpg. An action adventure or fps sure but that's it.

I got extremely bored playing Skyrim. Regret the purchase, should have trusted my friends, my instincts and my dislike for Oblivion and Fallout 3.
