they dont care about us. just the money we give them. its becoming more and more obvious.

I dunno. If they cared about money like that, they'd probably not be alienating 2/3rds of their customer base.

While I'm still planning on playing the game, this kind of deceitful tomfoolery has me canceling my PS3 Collector's Edition and adding the 360 version to my Gamefly queue. Why announce something like this so late?

Yes, they only care about the money.

Honestly, the game's not even out yet but already two thirds of the people that have bought the game get a massive slap in the face.
Seriously, all it does is anger the community even further and when the time comes to release the DLC on other platforms hardly anyone will be buying it which will make potential revenue for those platforms go way down.
Unless the DLC is free or something. It could've been less damaging IF it was announced AFTER the game is out, I'm suspecting some of those people that have pre-ordered the PC or PS3 version may cancel their order.

For everyone canceling pre-orders and buying used, renting etc. I hope this 'Exclusive' DLC is simply something that is so small and insignificant, it makes you feel silly for doing so. Your overreacting over a little DLC.

Why is the deal bad? You get what you pay for as everyone else. Nothing else. Further content isn't part of the initial deal.

You may be misunderstanding my point. I don't give a rat's behind which console they release the DLC on first. I don't care if they come out with a crappy low-graphics wii version and force the DLC onto that first. What I care most about is the fact that I was denied the ability to make an informed purchasing decision until the LAST DAY BEFORE SALE when Limited Editions are all dried up and it is too late to change my preorder to another console.

Has anyone thought to wait until the crime is commited to start handing out th epitchforks and torches? The mentality of the internet mob is both humerous and a tad frightening (if it had any REAL power). All the speculation and rumor mongering is just hot air and wasted data storage.

The Devs obviously CAN'T comment on this for whatever reason and have no intention of doing so. If it will all be made clear in the future (and they've stated that several places), why would they bother to comment and spur more controversy? PR stategies and the OBVIOUS pending collapse of the gaming industry aside, I'm sure this is all quite ammusing to someone (I find it slightly entertaining, but mostly baffling how Bill Gates can be personally smeared based on the 15 lines of actual information we have on the subject).

That is a good point. They shoulda informed the forums and everyone else before hand. Unless the deal was just made.

I'm not going to express my anger. I'm not going to bash Bethesda, even though they deserve every bit of hate they are getting. I just want to know one thing: Why? Why, Bethesda, did you shaft the fanbase of 2/3 platforms?

/sigh. Now, Bethesda is no different than Activision.

I know it's sad when Bobby Kotick's Customer service ideals start to seem humane.

Disagree. Your making a lot of assumptions there. You are fooling yourself if you think that they haven't thought this through. Plus, they've done it before and they know that most will buy the game and DLC anyways. Sure, a few might cancel, but not enough for them to worry about it. These are calculated moves with research and data to back up the decisions. That and the wad of cash Microsoft gave them.

This is true. I do play 360 and I am upset that PS3 and potentially PC won't get the DLC. I still have hopes that it will be something small and not a full blown DLC.

You know as well as the rest of us that it won't be. Based on past experience and the handling of this situation, there is abolutely zero reason to believe it will be anything less than a full-fledged DLC that adds gameplay time and missions, like, you know, every single last one of the FO3 DLC packages...

You can hope all you want, but I know you've already figured out the extreme unlikelyhood of your situation right now.

To answer your other point about the deal being "just made." That's worse. That's even more reckless that they would wait until the last second to make such a deal. Even 5 days ago I would have seen this as a legitimate business decision that was fair and in the best interests of the publisher. Pushing it to day 0 makes it nothing more than a backroom deal that either incidentally or intentionally (I'm honestly not sure which would make it a greater offense) screws preorder customers, the loyal key component of any franchise's fanbase.

Man, if this is something on the level of Point Lookout or The Pitt, I am going to be incensed :(

I just don't get why Microsoft, which owns both the Windows brand and the Xbox brand, would screw over PC users...it makes no sense.

Can anyone explain that reasoning? Whether or not the DLC is bought for PC or Xbox, it's still money in Microsoft's pocket, no?

I'm angry that ps3 and pc are getting the shaft for this, I use a ps3 personally. I don't have anything against xbox, I just prefer my ps3, personal preference. The problem with what is going on is that their is preferential treatment to a console system. It isn't like the ps3 or pc cannot download content, as obviously they can. Also I don't see how the ps3 is much different than an xbox or pc, and if it were then wouldn't we have to wait longer for the ps3 version of F:NV in the first place?

By limiting the content to one system at the start you may push more users to buy for that platform but in the end it will only hurt your sales because those who cannot gain such content immediately will either a) get so angry at your product that they won't buy the DLC when it eventual does come out, B ) pick and choose for the DLC's that interest them (I myself didn't buy mothership Zeta, it just didn't fit with me).

As for flaming for any reason on an issue such as this, it's just plain useless, it doesn't help us get our point across that we are unhappy. It proves to the moderators and the company that the vast majority of the people here are ignorant as well as childish. If you want to flame then maybe make another thread that is titled Flame R Us and go crazy. For those of us that would like to actually be heard and perhaps see a change please remain here.

In the end though Bethesda will make their own decisions, and in the end they are a company and companies need to make money to continue to make products. I know that the money from microsoft for timed exclusivity can be tempting but you aren't helping your reputation, which in the end may sell more games in the future instead of the money right now. Either way Bethesda will get my money, I'm a fan of Fallout (ever since fallout 1) and as long as quality product is made I'll keep shelling out the money, I'd just like to be able to shell out my money at the same time as those who have an Xbox or PC.

What really gets to me is I looked at Bethesda as one of the more respectable big companies, but it's hard not to start reconsidering my views on them.

The way I see it PC people got the GECK, People on Xbox get some DLC exclusively for them and PS3 owners get squat.

Now I might be missing something but im pretty sure nothing is currently labeled ps3 exclusive, yet, but fixing all the crashes and hick-ups the PS3 version of Fallout 3 had for NV I don't think really constitutes as an exclusive for them.

I personally am on an xbox but i'm speaking for a friend of mine, who used a lot more harsh words might I add.

However I'd like to point out for the community that most of the Fallout 3 DLC was listed as "Xbox exclusive" when it was first announced. So don't think of it as us getting DLC before everyone else. Think of us as people who are paying to Beta test the DLC so it doesn't svck when it comes to you guys.

Had this gone the other way around, I could easily have kept the 360 CE stuff, and sold the game for close to face value, while buying a PC version. Trying to sell a PC game for close to face value on ebay or amazon, even unopened is next to impossible, due to a lack of trust in authenticity and the availability of download editions.

what really worries me. is that it is strikingly obvious that 360 is getting better treatment.

this makes me worry that the game will still be glitchy as ever for ps3 users
