We can, but you have to have subscribed to HBO through a television provider to get access. Trust me, I've tried multiple times to find ways to watch it on there. :P

Is there anyway to watch the first season without buying HBO or the Season 1 DVDs?
If you have HBO, you should be able to watch them all on HBO GO.

They are also on Netflix, though not Netflix streaming and I'm getting a "Very Long Wait" notice on our queue when I add one of the discs.

That's what I've been thinking.

I've been asking around on facebook for anyone who has HBO and my one friend who does have it doesn't know his login stuff for HBO-Go :banghead:

I absolutely refuse to pay $16 a month for HBO, and I have no way to pay $80 for the DVDs.

.....anyone here have the season 1 DVDs?

I think Sansa is semi-delusional when it comes to her thinking that becoming a princess is how it is in the songs. She has it coming to her.

Seriously, man? Take it easy. When Game of Thrones starts, she's like 11. Living in the barren north her whole life, the only thing about the southern courts she knows is the songs about knights and ladies and tournaments. When Joffrey comes, she thinks it'll be just like those stories, until he attacks her sister and kinda ruins their relationship for the rest of the book. From Game of Thrones to the current point in the series (can't remember if the last we saw of her was FFC or DWD), she's matured quite a bit, thanks to Sandor and Cersei ruining her perception of the real world and Littlefinger trying to make her a player in the game.

I finished A Clash of Kings and I'm up to page 100 of A Storm of Swords book one.

Still supporting the Starks.

Spoiler

At this point If I was Robb I would just march back north with my
army, crush Roose Bolton's rebellion and fight a defensive war from
there. They would most likely win that way.

100 pages into Storm of Swords. Oh, if I could erase my memory and be right there again, I would. That book is so good. As for the spoiler tag, KEEP READING. Robb Stark's one of my favorite characters, definitely my favorite character story-arc, his tale is brilliant and told magnificently. I'll always be a Stark fan, regardless of Martin's apparent hatred for them.

That's what I was afraid of :(

Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer to watch season 1. Can't afford to drop $80 on DVDs at the moment.

No you don't. It's definitely not illegal to stream videos from a website. It's illegal to download them. Google "watch game of thrones" and do some surfing. It won't be the best quality, because it's a streamed video, but the series is thus far more about the dialogue and political movements, not about sword fights and battles. You will hardly notice the poor quality.

I was only about 250+ pages into Game of Thrones when I said that. I feel bad for her, especially now that I'm almost finished with Game of Thrones.
Spoiler
Joffrey puts on a good face on at first, but then Sansa realizes who he truly is. She is basically held hostage by the Lannisters.

Spoiler

And leave your blood sisters in enemies hands, making them useless to them. Do you know what implication is that?

Also, look at the map again. How do you defend Riverun once you headed back? And the marriage deal with the Frey, it wasn't sealed yet and you turned back already? Would they let you?

You're receiving reports of the Mountain's monstrous deeds over the regions, do you think you can let your bannerman's people being taken over along pass your uncle's castle and then up to the Twins? You think the Freys would really hold it for you?

Game of Thrones is a good book, but A Clash of Kings is a great read so far. I think it's because Game of Thrones just explains what leads to all the major happenings in Clash of Kings. Characters are more developed in the second book because of all their experiences in the first one. Plus, a whole new flock of characters are introduced in Clash of Kings.

Gahhh Martin really does hate the Starks.

Clash of Kings Spoiler:
Spoiler
Just got to one of Theon's chapters. WTF. Serioulsy? Why Martin? WHY? It pissed me off when I found out the Iron Islands were attacking the North not the Lannisters. Made me put down the book for a minute. It seems like the Starks never get a break and never have the upper hand. They haven't "won" anything, except the battle of the whispering wood, and even then half the army just marched off, since the start of the series.

Robb won many battles over the books. He didn't manage to capture Tywin only because his uncle screwed up at the Trident.

If you think none stop twist and turns of the battlefields and court intrigues are more tedious than everyday family lives in book 1, then It looks to me you will be bored by Storm of Swords but excited by Feast for Crows.

I've heard many different opinions on each book in the series so far. I'm enjoying Clash of Kings. Better than the first IMO.

I'm liking Clash of Kings much more than A Game of Thrones. Just seems like AGoT was setting things up and Clash of Kings is getting into the meat of the story arcs.

Oh boy, I feel as though there is much screaming and yelling in my future. :wallbash:

Might as well just start rooting for Tyrion. He's the pretty much the only other character I kind of root for in the book other than the Starks. Stannis is just bleh, Renly is just well Renly, Tywin is an ass, Jaime is an ass, Cersei...don't even get me started, Joffrey needs to get slapped a few more times, Daenerys is pretty cool but I have a feeling she's going to stir things up too much, and Theon is now on my bad side for being an ass.

Game of Thrones is a good book because it introduced a vast fictitious world with interesting characters. Clash of Kings is even better because it continues the storyline. So yeah Game of Thrones was the great introduction and the meat of the story arcs as you said.

Echoing what other people have said. Why the hell do you think GOT is better than COK? Game of Thrones is basically just the prologue.

Honey comforts your throat after some hardcoe screamings. Lock your windows and doors so you won't jump out or run into the semi that just passing by. Start practicing yoga and calm yourself. Hope you won't commit suicide after book 3. Wish you luck.

I read about this just after you posted so now I understand the situation.

Storm of swords spoilers:
Spoiler
I am very concerned on all fronts now though. The whole situation with the wildlings about to cross the wall, Lord Tywin with new strength because of the Tyrells and everyone who turned from Renly's side, the Freys leaving Robb and making his forces smaller. Everything is going so badly. At least Samwell has that cool dagger that can kill white walkers.

Oh the wildlings did not march south just for the hack of marching, they are very knowledgable people. Free people with no sense of feudal laws, but definately not stupid at all and know more about the mysterious winter than anyone else in the world. Think of the reason and you understand they are not the true enemies.

Even though there seems not much hope for the Starks, GRRM actually left a lot of rooms for them to run about. And don't forget what they faced were somewhat foretold in the early part of book 1.
