guess what i just saw at my local blockbuster

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:20 am

Usually what happens is that the game is on the system at a ridiculous price say '999'. So when a colleague scans the item to sell, they think 'What the Hell?!' and therefore realise it's not released yet, unless the individual wants to pay 999, which I guess some people might. The shop won't scan the item until someoe tries to buy it, therefore they don't really know. That's how it worked in my store, just thought I'd give a little information.

Yes. I would say at least 99% of games come out on Tuesdays.

This is only true for the Unites States mostly, we are the odd balls, most other countries release on Fridays.

So do games normally come out on a tuesday? I've never been interested in game releases untill Skyrim, but couldn't help but notice that CoD:MW3 comes out on a tuesday as every single advertisment hoarding in Manchester is covered in them.

Films are traditionally released on fridays and opening weekend sales are measured accordingly.

If your from the uk then MW3 is a special case. Games usually release on a Friday over here where-as they release on tuesdays in the US

Why did you tell them, just because you didn't get it doesn't mean some other lucky person can't get it.

 There are still Blockbusters?? For real??
yes, there are. I have one 7 short blocks from my house. I'm able to rent a game and try it out before I decide if I want to buy it or not without having to rent games through the mail. Has everything I want.

yep skyrim. along with all the other releases that are supposed to come out tuesday, they assumed skyrim was too. it pained me more than you know to pass up skyrim early, and i hated being "that guy" but i told them it doesn't come out till friday and the manager was really grateful.

/facepalm. This is one of the most depressing things I've read, what's wrong with you? You're like that annoying kid in class who reminds the teacher to collect homework that nobody did.

Same story for me! I work at gamemania in the Netherlands and my colleague was about to give away a copy until I said sorry, not until 11\11\11. The customer was pissed off and called me [censored].

I applaud you for doing that. Not many would have the restraint to do what is right. You have my respect.

Actually...I would have bought it despite the fact I've purchased a few copies (me and friend) already. Impatience can really pay off for Bethesda (in my case, anyways, lol).

I work at blockbuster and as soon as the rental copy comes in I'm aloud to rent it up until the day of release. Apparently it might be tomorrow so I'm going to drive my boss crazy by ringing her every hour saying. "Has it come in yet?" Don't worry though I'm not the kind of guy to spoil things for everyone, it's going to be an awesome experience and everyone should enjoy it without those idiots out there ruining it for them. I think we might be having one of those massive statues as well, asked my boss if I can get dibs on it and she said she'll think about it :D

I'm sure he would of purchased it from somewhere else so either way you lost a sale.

A bit off topic here, but the Blockbuster around my area recently closed down..now I'll be accompanied with an eternal nostalgia whenever I here mention of the name.

...P-Fft, I being a part of the younger generation honestly don't see a point of having a video store nowadays. Given all the pirating being done, and etc.

Well if the news about Netherlands are true then most stores are selling it, so yeah sue the whole country while you're at it.

Surely he wouldn't be able to play it till friday anyhow, or was it an Xbox copy and xbox live doesn't care?
