guess what i just saw at my local blockbuster

How does a chain store make that kinda mistake? Usually if you scan a shipment it says when the game is supposed to release.
Same way they make the mistake of checking in product that releases on let's say Nov 11, 2011 but don't put it out on the shelf for a couple weeks, or until one of two things happen...

1. Some irate customer comes into the store demanding to know where their copy of "insert title name here" is since they called and were told they had 15 copies in the store, OR
2. One of the stock boys is an avid fan of the game and notices it sitting on a shelf in the stock room.

yep skyrim. along with all the other releases that are supposed to come out tuesday, they assumed skyrim was too. it pained me more than you know to pass up skyrim early, and i hated being "that guy" but i told them it doesn't come out till friday and the manager was really grateful.
If true you took the moral high ground. I'm glad :tops:

Well done. I can fully understand not wanting to play before release day but you know what you should have done? You should have rented it and only created your character, then once you'd finished save, eject and return the game the same day. This way you could put however much time you wanted into char creation and when you get the game upon release you could just load and jump straight in.

I wonder why they're going out of business

Because of Netflix. Nothing to do with their professionalism/business practice.

Boggles me why you wouldn't buy it. What boggles me even more is people thanking you for "being that guy". I guess I like not being that guy. svcks for the people after you.

Might as well have just had it brosus, there would have been no repurcussions and no one would have lost out, win, win (unless you care that a masive corporation may or may not, most likely not get sued). All your moral highground has gained you is a slower road to skyrim. I know i would have had it, but then again, im a bit of a cynical bastard. B)

Why does everybody seem to care if somebody gets the game early?

Personally I'd like to wait just because the anticipation will add to the game to me, but I'm not going to get pissed if somebody else lucks up and finds it early... especially when we're 2 days and 6 hours away from launch.

This means that all (or most) stores already have their shipments, as one would expect.

Why are people praising the OP? Is it for showering us with his sense of righteousness? Is it for being the unpaid Bethesda contract police? Is Todd Howard going to personally stop by his house and congratulate him? Something else?

Seriously, all you're praising is an astonishing irrational decision.

I would have done the same thing. I just wouldn't have felt right exploiting the ignorance of an honest store to satisfy my impatience. Not hatin' or anything...

Maybe a little.
