Hardest enemy you have encountered so far?

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 4:58 am

Some named Dragon Priest near a word wall in the middle of nowhere.

Damn he was unbeatable, until I saved my game, TGMd and Fus Ro Dahd him off a cliff.
The shout from that wall is a bloody sweet reward though.
Spoiler
It's a "Voice Throwing" shout, it distracts your enemy to where you are aiming with an insult such as "Hey Skeever butt!"

After that Frost Trolls no doubt. Ran into 3 at the same time when scouting Labirinthian, jesus christ.

Trolls and Whispmother (don't know if that's a singular mob or if there are more of them). I don't think I could take more than one Whispmother at a time.

Also, at a Word Wall, the first I found, after managing to kill the Dragon,
Spoiler
I ran up and a dead guy named Knosis popped out and completely annihilated me. Took me about six tries to kill him, but gave a really sweet Light Helmet called Knosis. It's pretty rad for my character. Also dropped a nice fireball staff.

I'm glad you guys both had trouble with that Dragon Priest. It was the first Dragon Priest I had fought and I was like HOW AM I GOING TO COPE WITH THE HARDER ONES? Seriously, it was me and this thing battling down the slopes of the mountain, me running from side to side of a giant rock waiting for my magicka to regen. I died like 8 times and then I just decided to start again so I took a cavalry; me, Lydia, my horse and I kept summoning flame atronachs. But then the Priest kept turning it against me.

That was haaard though, dragon fights are a lot easier than Dragon Priests. Its a lot easier to dodge dragons than it is those priests.

I encountered the Draugr Deathlord and was like oh, a Draugr, I can take that. Next thing I know he uses a shout that disarms me and swings his giant ebony sword at me and bam! No more me. Was not expecting a shout from someone like that.

this guy for me aswell
Spoiler
not a DB qeust for me or anything though, just some random guy gave me a note saying I had to go to volunruud to unlock power or something
was at the beginning of the game so i figured it couldn't be that hard, boy was i wrong

also some thing at orphan's rock surrounded by witches
forgot the name and never actually saw the thing, it was just hurling crazy ass spells my way from really far away

Have you actually killed the Knevel chap yet? I got one of those notes telling me to go there now, and I've left him alive for the past 3 of my level ups haha, I fired fireballs, my enchanted Wabbajack, and my Frost battleaxe and took off a minute amount of his health. Then I died from his freaking shout, swore and wandered off.

you guys obviously haven't came across a giant yet,

Tip: DONT FIGHT GIANTS TILL A VERY HIGH LEVEL

i actually killed one right after exiting the first city (after the starting dungeon)
I had help from the companions though they seemed to be in a random fight with a small giant (haha small giant XD) so I jumped in and delivered the final blows
it wasn't that big though
second giant I pissed off send me skyward with a single blow killing me in the process

my hardest encounter yet would be that special dragon priest with the mask, or maybe that gang of thalmor, or maybe that dragon that nearly hit me off a cliff or .............................................................

this list could get very long :celebration:

srry for the double post but I can't seem to edit my own post for some reason (new here)

nope, not even close
I just wandered off to do something else as well and level up enough to beat him
no Idea when that will be though he was really tough
don't really feel like devising some "cheap" way to kill him either

As others, giants and frost trolls. Haven't beaten any of 'em yet at level 17 (haven't tried in a while) And a hagraven, those are incredibely hard from a distance, their magic is incredible, but are really easy take out in close combat.

I wandered into a grove at like level 3 or so, and was confronted by a Spriggan and a cave bear. Suffice to say, I didn't survive. I also later wandered into a cave and was confronted by 2 Falmer and 2 Chaurus, which promptly ended me. I also wandered into the Dwemer ruins underneath Markarth - I forget their name, something-Zar. I got the feeling I was pretty underlevelled seeing as I got absolutely swamped if more than one Falmer attacked me at once... Then when the Dwemer Spheres turned up, I had to run away!

Yeah, seems like wandering gets me into trouble quite often.

Some named dragonpriest took me almost 20 minutes to kill. Kept on freezing me, summoning atronachs and healing himself and i almost ran out of arrows.

Most Difficult enemy? Ugh the Snow Tigers.. They can kill me in 2-3 claw swipes. If I didn't have summons I would be screwed against them. Scratch that.

The Giants are the strongest enemy I've faced so far. I haven't even beaten one yet, and I'm not gonna even try until I get ALOT stronger.

Giants are tough, but they dont take a huge beating, plus their attacks are slow, you can run in, hit it and then run away from its attack, if you use a shield, you can bash it and score some extra hits.

by far the hardest enemy Ive fought would be the guy wielding the Staff of Magnus, he took forever to beat down, even though i found his damage output wasnt huge, the time it took me to cut him down made up for it.

A Giant smashed me killing me in one hit and sent me 500 feet (Literally, I could see most of Skyrim I was so high. Physics bug no doubt) into the air. Only reason I went anywhere near them was because the loading screen hints told me they're normally friendly... Thats friendly?

they do have certain locations they consider their own
found this giant campsite with a huge fire and a huge chest (expert difficulty :()
if you go there and they see you they will attack you
also seem really protective of those mammoths

The Frost troll on the stairs was very tough. I didn't know they are vulnerable to fire. He killed me several times, but on one reload I got lucky and was able to slide past him without a fight.

Hardest so far... the troll too. And I skipped him. I tried to shoot at him from a one of the cliffs too, but once I got 4-5 hits in, he started running away (with maybe 5% health missing). Doing hit and run didn't work either, as he always saw me the second I left my cover (bug?). And without any real magic to use (except the beginner fire stuff) simply no chance.

On a close second place I'd put the Chaurus (think that's the right name? Those water roach whatever thingy insects).

On the other hand, people talking about sabre cats? Somehow took one out with two barehanded power attacks at level 11 (Khajiit; so cat vs cat :P). Been at full health before I think.

Spoiler
For me it was Vulsong (or something similar-sounding).
It was a guardian of one of the shout spells (the forward dash).
I don't think i was supposed to fight him that early though as i could not kill him for the life of me (level 7 - adept).

If anyone hasn't fought him yet, i think it's well worth seeking him out as he drops a mask/hood type helmet that:
  • Looks epic
  • Allows you to breath under water
  • Provides a good armour bonus
  • Gives you 20% of all sales!

I can edit in the location if anyone's interested. ^^

Definately a frost troll. Took me a few tries to get past it. You have to play hit and run :D first I used my full magicka (100) with frostbite on him. Then I did the fire breath shout. And then just keep hitting him when he is dazed, "when he get's back to the world", just wait for him to smash and try to evade it by running away but with him in your view. And then you can rush in and hit him maybe once, maybe twice or more. Level 12 when I tried it with a steel sword (19 dmg) and an iron shield (24 block I think). It was a hard fight, had to do it multiple times till I found a hard way to kill it.

Not forget to mention, sometimes it does hit you, then I used my healing spell :)

Ok, so back to the frost troll..I found a book inside a house in Whiterun. "Troll slaying" it says, they are hard because they regen health pretty fast. So the only way to kill them easily is use fire. Fire spells or fire imbued sword. Because of the fire they can't heal themselves so fast and they are pretty vulnerable to fire. Not only the frost troll, any troll it said.

Note: it was only the 2nd book I fully read, the other was the house decoration guide

Don't understand the trouble people have with trolls.

For me, it was krosis, a unique dragon priest with one of them masks. He did about 50 damage with each fireball he shot at me, so I ran. but he followed,
I led hiom to an old fort filled with necromancers that kept him busy while I hammered him... With arrows from on top of a cliff.

But now I have his mask and look badass :celebration:

I think because most of the people aren't that far in the questline. Or just have so many other things to do than to kill, kill, kill.

On the surface, I'd say a mammoth. I charged into combat and died within a few seconds.

In dungeons, the hardest non-boss enemy I've found is the Restless Draugr. I went with them because of the sheer number of them - especially in rooms where Draugr pour out of their coffins.

The hardest dungeon boss, though, for me, would have to be that big Dwemer machine thing in one of their ruins.

I watched as a frost troll killed a dragon out in the wilderness. It still had like half health - so I went in for the kill. But it was quite amusing to watch and I still got the soul.

I use heavy armor, and I don't seem to have a problem with trolls with fire breath. But I am popping potions after every hit practically.

The hardest thing for me to kill have been dragon priests. Also, there was a ghost in one of the ruins - can't remember which - who was ridiculous to beat.
