I have ALWAYS hated most of the Armor in TES for GOOD reason

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:36 pm

My issue is simply with crafting it period. Daedric armor and weapons, are summoned from the Plane of Oblivion. At least that's the way it used to be, and explained the other-wordly look to it. It wasn't of this world

Now any shmuck who practices enough can simply craft it. lolwut?

Even if it comes from Oblivion it's still just an armour like steel, and you need daedric stuff to craft it anyway.

You just keep saying same things in impolite ways. Why can't you just answer depending on your own experience and knowledge of Morrowind why Dwemer ghosts weren't tall in the game? You say that they are tall in lore so if you know that's so just tell me then why they were so short in Morrowind? I want honest answer for that.

And please stop using those lol and rofl. They are not English which is only allowed language on the forums. They are just impolite and make you to sound like a moron. Thanks.
Give me picture proof of what you're implying. Give me an in-game shot of a bosmer standing near a dwemer ghost.

Also, since when are ghost scale representations of their lively beings? What proof in lore do you have for that?

PS: lol

As others have pointed out, Dwarven Armor isn't armor at all. It's machine parts from their robots not armor that they made for themselves. It's in one of the books of Skyrim.

Not necessarily many things seem to contradict each other in this series, as in real life. Others have also pointed out books mentioning dwarven armor as being made by blacksmithes as well as the fact that in skyrim you can create dwarven armor from metal scraps.

I just asked your opinion. I can give a link to a wiki's screenshot of Dwemer, but can't take my own because I can't take screenshots with my laptop because "fn"-button doesn't work when Morrowind is on. But can't you remember them on your own? If it's so why don't you just launch Morrowind once more and check it out?

The Dwemer armour you find in Skyrim looks the same as the Dwemer armour you forge; it is therefore logical that all the Dwemer armour you can wear has been forged by races other than the Dwemer, and is not specifically designed for a Dwemer to wear. However that is irrelevant as we know the Dwemer weren't on average a shorter race than any other.

Just used 3D Model Viewer to compare the two. The Dwemer Ghost in the Tribunal expansion is the same height of an Imperial, different depending on the hair I load.
So uh, yeah.

You can forge the Dwemer armor because, in game terms, when you pick up "Dwarven Smithing" perk, your character learns the plans and designs for all Dwarven armor pieces and weapons. Since you are Dovahkiin, the (gods help me) DOOM Marine of RPG characters, you become capable of forging a very passable imitation of original Dwarven gear.

Here is the simple, simple story, and bottom line you all: DWEMER - defined as normal height in TES lore, and NOT SHORT. Dwarves - defined in The English Dictionary as short people. Could somebody explain to me how Dwemer armor, Dwemer ruins, Dwemer artifacts, etc. Etc. Inherited the adjective of "Dwarven?" If Lore can answer this question by explaining that it is because Giants viewed Dwemer as short when compared to giants, Then my rebuttal is - how in Oblivion does it make sense for Bethesda to go ahead and NAME everything related to the Dwemer as Dwarven? Completely stupid! Giants were never even in Oblivion, so there is no way to even TRY to defend it in regards to Dwarven gear in Oblivion. In Skyrim, giants make up 5% of the population in the entire province. So what about every playable race? Why should we see Dwemer armor as "Dwarven?" Why? When dwarven armor is worn, it fits every race. From elves to Nords. Every playable race is nowhere near the heigh of a dwarf, save for Bosmer, but I don't understand a wood elf in a dwarf armor set anyway. That would be TES version of a transvestite. Every time my Nord equips a Dwarven armor piece, I want to spit on the screen!
Here is the simple, simple story, and bottom line you all: Who cares what the name is?

Dwarven armor isn't even worn by the dwarves in the first place - It's the husk of a Steam Centurion!. Have you seen how big THOSE are?
This.

You're a [censored] Elf-sympathizer if you use any of the following terms:
Altmer instead of High or [censored] Elf
Bosmer instead of Wood Elf
Dunmer instead of Dark Elf
Dwemer instead of Dwarf
Daedra instead of Demon (Yes, Demon is the non-Aldmeri word for Daedra)
Aedra instead of God
Auri-El instead of Akatosh
Trinimac instead of Malakath
Lorkhan instead of Shor or Shezzar

You pitiful human. :P

there low end armors are some of the best ive seen in any game. i even love the orcish armor. the high end armors were obviously designed by someone who worked at WoW. glass armor is supposed ot be light armor which is sneakier than heavy armor........yet its just as bulky as the heavy armors and it glowy greeny and looks about as stealthy as bank robbers using an ice cream truck as a get-away vehicle.

dwemer arent short.

i agree with the spikes all over the place just being stupid. how could you NOT get caught on branches all the time or knock stuff over in crypts when you have all that stuff just hanging out there to hit stuff with. not to mention how easy it would be for someone to hook their weapon on your "totally kickass" daedric armor and pull or push you down. do they have anyone with some knowledge of history working there.

Dwemer are called Dwarves because that's the name that stuck. It's the same reason humans call Altmer, Bosmer, and Dunmer "Elves", and the armor's called "Elven Armor" instead of "Aldmeri Armor."

If you don't like Elven or Glass armors, then wear Leather, Scale, and Dragonscale armors.

Daedric armor is the "best" because it's supernaturally powerful. However, my Steel armor competes well with Daedric in terms of protective value because I've forged it to Legendary strength.

Bit offtopic but doesn't daedra either mean ancestor (dunmeris) or not ancestor (aldmeris)..? I don't think it ever translate to demon.

The word is of Aldmeri origin, and it originally means "not our ancestors" as opposed to Aedra-"ancestors". Among humans in particular, these creatures are often mistakenly referred to as demons. Daedric Princes are, in fact, mostly not demonic in the conventional sense of the word.

Yup.

Daedric armour is ugly as all hell, I HATE the look of it... Dragonbone doesn't look too great, Dwarven looks horrible. Agree with the OP for good/bad looking armour but the reasons, nah.

Why such a rude attitude? You don't even know me and you have such thoughts about me. I have modded TES games since Morrowind. And I know where to find and how to work with models and other contents. But it seems that you haven't modded any of these fine games so I let you know that model's size is counted as 1 in the game. When you put anything using that model you can make it to have different size in game like 0.8 or 1.3 just for example. What I really think about you is that it seems you are only a kid who has ever played Morrowind and probably not even Oblivion. So you know absolutely nothing about these games and about their modding. You just feel yourself so negligible here on forums that you try to make yourself to seem bigger than you are.

Don't try - be just what you are. And you are not forced proof yourself by beating my opinion. You can just check the facts and make your own. Or we can have a good discussion about it without bad manors or attitude and without blank comments and controversy.

I was extremely happy about the knight of the nine equipment in oblivion since it was incredibly powerful cloth and steel apparel and weapons. It beat the childish powerful armours of glass and daedric

Just have to stick with steel, iron and fur in skyrim

I'm with the OP regarding the looks of armor. I have smithing, so it doesn't matter much.

If I had my way, weapons and armor would have values very similar to each other, with limitations in other ways. Perhaps Daedric is heavier, and can be enchanted more. Orcish has higher armor value, but reduces magic resist. Lots of possibilities to provide advancement without making old material obsolete.

By the way, Dwarves were short, generic fantasy dwarves until they were retconned. That's the reason for the flimsy explanation. The same goes for Orcs.

I think it would be cooler if armour was like that actually, instead of just finding/smithing better and better armour.

Elves - Mer
Dwemer - Dwarves
It's part of the streamlining/dumbing down to make "non TES'ers" understand what they're talking about. But I can wrap my head around it and it doesn't bother me at all.

Skyrim kinda condradicts itself. On the loading screen what do you see?

Norms in steel
Dark elves with daedric
Elves in elven armour
Orca with orcish equipment

Yet the game expects you to be wearing full Deadric/dragon bone by the end of your quest

They need a new system

Lol? The loading screen is just showing off character models, and you don't have to wear armour at all.

my oblivion game was heavily modded so that steel weapons were the average at everthing type weapon and ever other material was better and/ worse in different areas. speed, damage, weight, durability, enchantability etc. this meant i could use the steel weapons very effectively throughout the game. glass was slightly faster and more powerful but was very brittle and had to be repaired every couple of fights. (another reason i hate them removing weapon degradation) daedric and ebony were tough, more powerful but slower and very heavy. they also had the highest enchantablity along with glass. dwarven was very tough, same damage as steel and a bit heavier and thus slower. and so on. it was a great system because it made more sense than the comically assinine vanilla setttings. a 20 pound warhammer is going to do the same amount of damage to you no matter whether its made of steel or glass or ebony.

as for the dwemer issue the way they did it in skyrim is just stupid. i get a quest when i buy my first dwemer piece of armor from a very wealthy, probably well connected archeologist who says i found something rare. i was waiting for the dialogue option to tell him to go visit the smith because they usually have at least a couple of dwemer items on hand............[censored] this game make me want to pull my hair out sometimes.
