Hearthfire PS3 Release Date - Thread #2

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:08 pm

Ehm.. maybe I missed this, but I can't figure it out and I'm curious:
People seem to say that Bethesda promised DLC, which was a reason for buying the game..when/how did they do that?

All I can see is posts about Beth lying and blah, but no quotes or anything that would help me understand what the lie was.. and I'm curious.

I doubt people bought Skyrim FOR its DLC, but they likely bought it with the understanding that they would get DLC with it.

They did not lie to us, I don't think, they just ran into unexpected difficulty. If I tell my son I'll be at his baseball game, but I get in a car wreck on the way and spend five hours in the ER instead, am I a liar? You might see it that way, but I don't.

Well, some people voiced their opinion the way I mentioned, which is what made me curious.

I know that. For a lot of them, it's frustration talking. Many hardcoe gamers are, like me, people who don't take frustration well. And others are still young enough to believe that the world revolves around them. It's quite normal. And some maybe just post something without thinking how others will take it. That happened to me once. Every time I glance at my Warn Status indicator, I remember that it's best to think before you post.

Re. DLC 'promises': Somewhat debatable - in pre-release media interviews; Not so debatable - on the back of the flipping box

all ik is im lvl 43 on skyrim and i have no quest r houses 2 mess with and i want hearthfire bc well its awesome and i want dawnguard bc it give me more 2 do bc well who wldnt want 2 kill a crap load of vampires =P

as for the 3rd dlc remark about riding dragons and it being only for ps3 and how its not microsofts fault for us not getting the dlcs let me put a little more logic in it and this doesnt mean i like x-box more infact i hate it

ps3 gets alot of things 100% free like internet and with that x-box if anything payed to get it sooner over all idm if x-box gets it a month or a week before us due to that fact but the time its taking is a bit well unfair

as for the 3rd dlc ya it shld be only for ps3 1 for us waiting so ling but also bc x-box ussaly gets excusives all the time (halo) not that ps3 doesnt (jak and daxter sly cooper ratched and clank and etc) but its that fact that ppl like me who love ps3 who also cant afford 2 buy a $1000 laptop or another game system and the same games that we own get it just for ps3 trust me when i got my ps3 i thought about getting x-box but i didnt bc i cant afford to pay for all there cost and as for pc well i dont have $1000 to throw on a laptop

so i hope besthsoft thinks about the lower class americans like me who choose ps3 bc it is cheaper and easyer for some1 like me 2 get

Not sure what all you were saying there, Darkal, but I'll take my best guess.
* Even though I have a PC, I prefer my PS3 for gaming. Using a controller beats using a keyboard hands down.
* I see no reason to produce a PS3-only DLC. Just give all platforms the same, once it's developed. If Bethesda wants to give us something to apologize, how about a $2.50 HF or a $15 Dawnguard?

Bad Customer Service to not say exactly what is going on. Just to say we are working on it after this many months? :stare: They are paying customers not fair and I think if you want to keep this customer base I would give them Dawngauard and Healthfire at a substantial discount. Maybe even go as far to give them both for $10 or is that 1000 points? I am a PC user and I really feel bad for PS3 customers. Please resolve their issue soon and be fair.

The only reason why they give us "updates" at all is because the media (Playstation magazine, game sites, and blogs) are watching. Every single game they have released for the PS3 since Fallout 3 has been broken and any DLC they released for those games just made them worse to the point of unplayable. If their history is to be taken into account, one can see they really don't care about quality, bugs, glitches, or freezes. Right now I think they are scrambling. If it weren't for the spotlight on them, they would have released Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and would be soon on the way to releasing the third DLC for the PS3 not caring about the technical issues. They are scrambling because they know if they release the DLC in the same state they have released everything else they will get flamed into the stone age. It's all about damage control right now. They are working on how to tell everyone they are incompetent when it comes to the PS3, yet avoid lawsuits. They need to back peddle and spin what Pete Hines said before the release of Skyrim (new engine, special attention, level of parity, blah blah) into something they won't be buried by. Oh, yeah, and avoid lawsuits based on blatant fraudulent advertising and lies.

Did I mention avoid lawsuits? Oh, yeah, I did. Any lawyer worth their salt would have Bethesda dead bang guilty if the company came out and said they give up or they are not working on fixes. As time goes on, we will see more fluff pieces on Bethesda's blog, more about other games, and eventually nothing but posts about the release of the next Fallout title. I think right now they are beginning the "white wash" process in hopes that people forget about the whole Skyrim thing and line up to buy the next game. Oh, yeah, and forget so they don't bring the hammer down with lawsuits. Lawsuits that would be easily winnable in any court in the US. Class action no less. Those are expensive for a company to go through from what I've been told. Some companies have even gone out of business because of them. If Bethesda does not fix this or make serious reparations, I think my little bit of a vengeful side will enjoy watching them twist in the wind. Either way, I think PS3 users will get at least a little vindication.

Way I see it: it's not because of cash they're doing it, they just genuinely can't get it to work.

I'm not going to get mad at them for not being able to fix a challenge. I'd like to see people make a game like Skyrim.

But if there really is some insider fishy business going on...well...nothing new. These days this is the gaming industry in a nutshell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkcwnBBcADA

I made this forum account for the sole purpose of telling Bethesda how unhappy I am about their efforts. A full 1/3 of their customers feel ignored. New content continues to be given to PC and Xbox, with old issues being ignored on the PS3. Not to mention the poor performance at release!

This is showing some very poor project management issues at Bethesda. It's a good thing that they have such great creative teams. Although if management continues its poor performance, I'm sure the strong creative talent will look for more fertile ground.

all ik is that im not going 2 "just forget about it" ive been checking everyday for those updates sence i saw that they came out and making a game like skyrim acutally is preatty easy im taking a videogame design class in my school using programes like unity and maya and i cld make a 1 player game like skyrim easy idk about multiplayer tho i havent gotten that far in my class

ive even had a glitch were i fell threw the map and i cld see the underneath of it it looks just like the unity platform i use at my school but even my freind josh whos in his 3rd year cld do better then besthsoft in fact im pretty sure he cld even make his muiltplayer
P.S.skyrim is basicly a whole bunch of differnt platforms aka why u have to load to even enter a cave i can tell u this much i bet the main map is same size as all the other locations but the scaled it all down so far and made the character small enufe that it doesnt look any differnt over all even a newbie game designer can make this infact im making my own game in my class but i cant sell it due to a unity/maya contract unless i get promission from them 2 do so

Yes i am quite sad about the fact we may not get DLC. however don't think about what we didnt get from beth, think about what we did

SKYRIM :thanks: bethesda

Guess I'm going to be in the minority here, and be one of the few people to agree with you, sure I would love to have the dlc, but it's not as if they didn't give you enough content in the vanilla game. Anyone who thinks they are not getting enough content for the $60 price tag should check out the latest fps or fighting game.

but it's not as if they didn't give you enough content in the vanilla game.

The vanilla game for PS3 were bugged to a point of making it nearly unplayable and not able to be enjoyable.
Bethesda released a broken game for the PS3, you used money on something that were broken all along.
Sure, you might be able to live with all of this, that's going on at the moment.
I could care less for the DLC's, I just find it unfair as all of us brought a broken game. BUT, not only it being broken, it won't recive the downloadable content that the other consoles were offered.
Oblivion for the PS3 didn't recive the DLC content like horse armor and stuff, just like the Xbox did. There again is a offence against their costumers as the Xbox get a 30 days exclusive on the DLC, that we still don't have.
I'm not hating on the Xbox, I would just like to see the same favor come towards us PS3 users. Who not only bought a game we expected so much from, only to see these plot twists at the end.
I've given up hope on the Downloadable content, if it someday pops up, I probably won't buy it just to justify that this ain't the right way to treat costumers, just because they play your game on a different platform it shouldn't mean we're to lack what the rest have.
Meh, long rant, [censored] it.

I hope that they'll get it fixed, just so that all of you who still keep your hopes high for it. Actually, can have it and have a great time with it.
That's all, lol.

i dont think the 3rd dlc should be ps3 exclusive. the timed exclusives dont bother me so much, but if they release the game on every system the dlc should be available for every system.

Perhaps people have given up hope?
Of course they have. hearthfire or dawnguard will never come to ps3 or any others they may later release. its obvious they have given why havent the posts been so active for example? and i sent a message to gstaff asking about the progress on hearthfire i havent heard back in 4 weeks. Its obvious they have us ps3-ers to play ordinary skyrim while all your xbox and pc players can have all the DLCS they want. The only bethesda game im buying now is dishonored

I don't care how good Dishonored is, if Skyrim DLC doesn't reach the PS3, I do not intend to buy it new. That's how it's going to be.

Well, unfortunately, their games are too good NOT to buy. But if you wait and get it used, Bethesda doesn't get any money for it.

However, scuttlebutt from several sites suggests that the DLC will reach the PS3 soon. I do wonder why they haven't let us know yet, if that's the case. I would think that their usual policy of springing it on us would be counterproductive in this case.

I'm surprised that no one has posted yet, these threads had so much activity. What happened?

The only real purpose if these ps3 complaint threads is to "wear-out" the ps3 fanbase ad prevent us from filling up the forums with our complaints and honestly it's working many of those who posted in the beginning have given up posting, as the majority of people have realized our complaints mean nothing.

If we weren't given a designated place to vent our frustrations, some of us angry PS3 users would likely do it all over the place.

Given up hope and lost interest. Moving on to other games. I just come back here out of curiosity to see if these downloads ever come out. I won't be buying them anyway. I hope all of you who still want them get them sooner or later.
