Hearthfire - Thread #3

Yes, destruction magic needs to be improved and rebalanced. But I hope hearthfire won't be a mono-thematic DLC in the same way Dawnguard is.

The ideal expansion/DLC should be a well balanced mix of exploration, new themes and quests and new items/abilities.

Morrowind brought two well fleshed expansions. Oblivion one limited and forgettable DLC and one good expansion, Dawnguard was somehow larger than KotN but still very limited compared to Bloodmoon, Tribunal or Shivering Isles and too much centered around its main quest.

Mages need real staves. Use it like a bow staff in melee and when range it'll work like the staves we have.

I would love to see dragon mounts :D but not flying around sorta mounts , where if you mount a tame dragon they will not fly. So you using your crossbow can shoot down from dragon back and your dragon could stomp on enemies and breath fire, or swallow them . Would be very interesting to master shooting from a moving dragon ^_^

Acrobatics should come back but not as a skill... Like maybe as some sort of special perk system, or something? ... Acrobatics as a skill is just stupid, if you ask me.

Anyways... I was doing some thinking... Dawnguard brought two original (Arena) artifacts back in Skyrim, which I will not say here.. And I was thinking that what if the next DLC, or another, will bring back more of the original artifacts? Maybe in a pair, like what happened in Dawnguard? Well.. I looked into it and found out there is only 5 original artifacts not in Skyrim atm.. 3 are just rings, and prolly not that famous... The other 2 is Chrysamere and Lord's Mail, which these two can easily be paired up together.. So.. What if they become important, or added, in this DLC or the next one?

Thoughts?

Judging from the whole "Warrior, Thief, Mage" theme in Skyrim.
I'd imagine Bethesda will have 3 DLC's centered around each class.

Dawnguard being Warrior of course.

that is very simple minded just cause it was in oblivion doesn't mean it cant be good in skyrim your not the only person who plays skyrim. i for one hated crossbows in morrowind am i like no dont put crossbows in dawnguard if you want crossbows go play morrowind? No!!!

to me it makes no sense that my orc jumps just as high as my bosmer actually technically higher be cause hes taller.

oblivion would be the only numbered installment in the elder scrolls universe no to feature the two add on artifacts from dawnguard. considering the fan love for gold-brand and umbra i would expect them to be featured dual wielding them would be awesome but id like umbra to go back to two handed. also shadowrend would be great because it takes the form of what your proficiency is. although would be difficult to implement now that weapons are only separated by number of hands need to wield

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The devs themselves said that the Vampire Lord was a buff for mages. In the E3 presentations it sounded more like they were leaning toward Dawngaurd being mage-centered rather than warrior. It certainly doesn't feel that way but that was the strong impression I got from all the E3 footage.

Goldbrand has a chance of coming back but it isn't an original artifact. I kinda love the original artifacts the most.

Umbra will NEVER come back.. That sword is dead.

If it is in a book in the games then that isn't rly official.. That was written by some random dude in Tamriel... Heck, maybe he always lived in the desert or something then went to Cyrodiil and was all like "Wow.. This is a Jungle!" but truly, it wasn't.

Now.. The original topic was Umbra, correct? Umbra was destroyed in the Elder Scrolls Novels. You should rly read those books.

No, Acrobatics need to be back in Elder Scrolls some way or another. Too many user's want it back in.

That doesn't really mean crap. A lot of people wanted a Dinosaur Mode in Battlefield 3, but they didn't add it, because it made no sense, nor did it fit the game.

No, it doesn't count as official lore since it was in a book. It counted as possible lore. In-Game Books cannot count as official cause that would be like saying that books about Dinosaurs in real life is official when the truth is, we have no idea...

Just because a book in Tamriel says that doesn't truly mean it is official.. Like I said, the writer of that book could've been someone who never saw a forest/jungle before and called it what he wanted, which is highly possible.

Actually, it is like the "Argonian Account" books, if I'm correct. The books about an Imperial going into Black Marsh and he talks about how bad it is down and how he doesn't want to go down there... Yet if an Argonian wrote a book about Black Marsh, they would most likely say how wonderful it is for their people and go on about the hist, and such... Same thing here, a guy wrote a book about Cyrodiil, or w/e, and said it was a jungle.. And if someone else wrote it, they prolly would've said something different.

~Edit~

I think this the major problem with people... They read a book that is in the game and think it is official, instead of thinking of the possibility that it is incorrect... Seriously, Bethesda had set-up their books in Tamriel just like what they would be in real life... And I love that.. More life-like.

It originally occurred in the Pocket guide to the Empire volume one. later it was explained that it was changed from jungle to grassland by first emperor Tiber Septim, this was a way of showing the power he had gained by obtaining chim. this part of info was found in obscure text written by bethesda them self to explain how the regions of Colovia and Nibenay changed, saying that this lore is false is like saying the slave queen herself never existed, just because she only exist in written lore.

I never said anything was false.. I said it wasn't official.. I never said it isn't a possibility.
