So how many people had their PC versions run without a hitch

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 9:56 am

No hitches so far. A small bug in a quest which I figured out in 10 minutes. But other than that no crashes, no slowdowns, no unreponsive controls/UI or nothing, Pretty pleased so far!

The FPS could be better in cites for me, but that will come with later patches and driver updates.
I'm a very happy camper. (On that note, I can't wait for a "Set up Camp" mod)

Mine is running perfectly. Mouse speed is fine (after turning it up in the options). I just wish that the background sound would stop playing when you minimize, or that the windows border would disappear when you play in windowed mode (I know that sounds weird, but I have seen it in other games, and love it).

I am even starting to like the interface, enter=ok not included. It is very fast to simply use the keyboard instead of the mouse, and I kind of find it less disruptive that way.

No problem here. Runs like a charm and I like the interface. I don't understand why there was so many complaints about it. Probably [censored] kids

I had one CTD in 9hrs of gameplay. Hardly game-breaking.

Once I got used to the UI (in about 10 mins) it's been plain sailing. So much fun. :celebration:

EDIT: btw, thanks for this thread, all the complaining and whining threads make it sound like all PC gamers are unhappy.

About three random crashes so far, not counting the 44.1KHz, 16-bit sound crash.

I've had no problems at all with the PC version running at max everything. The controls aren't difficult at all.

My character came out more awesome than even I expected. :)

Less crashes than with Oblivion. I think I had my first CTD (without warning or even an "unexpected error" message. Just exit application -> straight to desktop) about 6 hours in.

It's good though, because oblivion trained me to save every 10 seconds or so (not even an exaggeration :P)

Played for about 4 hours so far, not one crash.

Oblivion didn't complain that much either until people started putting more than a few mods in it.

I'm doing fine on "High" with my X4 955 and a GTX 460 (which is what the game recommended). Quite smooth. I turned it up to Ultra and the quality difference was pretty small (and not worth the performance hit). I did have one crash trying to enter a store.

Hey,

Touch wood....nothing so far! I probably have a rig that could push it out to ultra but am just playing it on high. Works well and it's all good.

I particularly like a little snippet I saw on the web about issues with a hairy Mammoth floating a hundred feet in the air~!

I guess if Mammoths could fly this would be the game!

No problems, not even a CTD. I dislike the UI and some texture issues, but the game is fine apart from that.

I have this horrible feeling the game is waiting for me to start modding, then the glitches will arrive in droves.

You can always use E in place of Enter, thankfully.

Game's running great here and looks beautiful! I already got used to the very poor PC UI, other than that, I love Skyrim.

Just had my first crash after 8 hours of other wise flawless play.

I saved right before it happened,so hopefully I didn't lose anything.

Played for 10hrs straight yesterday, no slowdown, no crashes, only issue I came across was the menus being unusable when I was using eyefinity. While fps was slower at 5670 x 1080 res, it was more than playable on high. Sadly had to change to 1920 x 1080 to be able to use menus. Fingers crossed this oversight will be fixed very soon.

All in all a very good release and great fun.

Although one warning, I was 500 off getting my first house, so decided to sell some of my armour, weapons etc that I collected.

Problem was I was tired by then, turned out I was buying not selling the armour. Doohh

Sold it back straight away but at quite a loss, so I'm now 1500 short for my house. Allways check what button you're pressing before you do it. Can get expensive otherwise.

I've had a couple problems, nothing too serious though. A couple random crashes here and there, but booting the game back up right after the crashes and I could play for a few hours before it crashed again.

I've had no problems with the controls, everything works fine there.

I haven't had a single crash nor experienced any glitches, and I played Skyrim for most of the day yesterday. It also runs at a buttery-smooth 60 FPS on near-max settings on my rig (~75% view distance on all the sliders, 8x AA instead of 16x). I've had minimal problems with mouse lag, mouse sensitivity and UI issues; just a few adjustments and I'm not having any problems, aside from the wonky hotkeys and the somewhat awkward console-centric UI, but those are the same in everyone's game.

I'm blown away, most new Bethesda releases end up being an early public beta test.

Playing the game on a PC with minimum specs - it runs beautifully, my only issue is with the awful PC UI. Only once so far has the game simply closed instead of allowing me to alt+tab back - after I had been playing for hours and alt-tabbed out of the game and back several times.

I haven't had one single problem after several hours of play. And after tweaking the ini...it looks way better than just putting it on ultra settings.

I get my copy tomorrow...and to be honest after reading the onslaught of PC issue-related complaints...I'm absolutely terrified. This forum can really get one's morale down...

Thats because:

1. The majority of forum users are thoose that complain, thoose that have no problems rather play the game then talk about it
2. You're probably attracted to complaint and whine threads...ignore them...either your game runs or it doesn't...if not...buy a new system

Oh and btw. would you please mind to not undress in front of a internet camera and use the screen as a avatar. Let's you look hilarious and childish, though you're probably trying to look sixy and attract male people^^

Ontopic:

No crashes, No bugs, No glitches after 15 hours of gameplay. I even figured out recently that I can max out all the graphical settings except shadows in 1600x900 resolution. Since I'm on XP, Skyrim runs in DX9 for me, and thus I can enjoy the whole potential even with a old system like mine:

Athlon 64 XP2 dual core 6000+ (2x~3.09Ghz)
Nvidia 9600 GT 512 RAM
3 GIG RAM at 1.066 Mhz
Windows XP SP3
Line6 UX1 sound station
