Light Armor Perks

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 3:24 am

i just re-read the perks... Can any one confirm if you have to wear a helmet? I mean, HAVE to wear it for the perk to work. Or can it just not be heavy? (by the which i mean can you wear nothing in the slot)

it makes me wonder if the light armors just have clipping problems if you don't wear them in a matching set so they are trying to give players a reason to wear them that way.

Nothing that blows me away though a flat 10% to avoid melee damage isn't bad. At this point i don't even know if my stealth character will have enough park slots left to take armor perks much after Sneak, Security, Speech, and Alchemy perks.

yup. Another reason I am skipping it with my character. Seems like they ran out of ideas for Light Armor. I mean think about it guys... What do you think of when you think of armor? Defense.. So since you already have classifications of armor types (light, heavy) then what can they offer that makes them unique? More or less defense? That wouldn't work... they had to do something to make them different enough for different playstyles. I personally think maybe they just got stuck on Light Armor ideas and couldn't get "stamina" out of their mind.

Hmmm since these perks are apprently 2 less than heavy, if there were too more i hope they're something like:

10% faster travel speed
25% higher jumps.

I also think 20% dodge rate would be more balanced, or maybe even 15% 15 would mean a 1 in 7 chance of dodging instead of a very unreliable 1 in 10.

I would have liked to see a perk that allows you to become hidden faster after being discovered. So say you are sneaking and someone sees you, you run behind a rock or wall and sneak again and it takes less time to become actually hidden again.

It's 12 and 10.

I think one of the advantages of Light Armor is that you won't have to invest as many points in it to max the perk list out, leaving you points to invest in other trees.

There is a perk like that under the Sneak tree. "Crouching can make hostile enemies lose sight of you and search for new target".

Every character I have spun up in my mind for amusemant has plenty of perks except the stealth folks. The lack of an attack form in their section means I am focusing on 1-2 skills more than I am with other builds.

I haven't seen anything that says you have to wear a helmet... Just that you cab't wear a heavy armor in the head slot.

If you have boots, head and chest but no hands, it probably still works if they are all light.

This.

Also, depending how easily the armor cap can be reached, certain perks may turn out to be more important than others.

I think they look fine, honestly. Certainly better than the "everything in heavy and light armor end up almost identical, except that heavy armor gives more armor" that was Oblivion. Everyone keeps saying heavy has better perks. Well, in terms of a straight up combat character, of course it does. For me, however. A character that plans to use stealth but still engage in some straight up combat, whether it be intentional or not, these seems just fine. Light gets more armor boost perks, probably bringing it close to heavy's armor. It gets more stamina regen so that you can dodge (stealth roll), power attack and sprint (if necessary) more. It weighs you down some, but not nearly as much as heavy, (while lacking the weightless perk) so is better for sneaking. And assuming you don't want to go for all defensive enchants, gives you the ability to get "wailed on" occasionally and not be instantly killed because you decided to go for robes, instead.

Sure, they may not be perfect. But they're not excruciatingly horrible in comparison to every other list of perks in the game, like everyone seems to be suggesting.

No no, theyre certainly not "terrible" but its just... well, i gata say disapointing. I was hoping for this to be my way out of being slow and clumsy, and more to quick and agile like any good rogue should be. I may have overexadurated my opinion abit initially, but certainly not my feelings.

Well. Here's hoping they added some unique speed boost or some other cool types of unique enchantments for gear. Seeing as they removed attributes, it would seem like they'd have to add something in their place to make up for the lack of enchantments.

They're OK-ish. I especially like the stamina boost. But where did you get this info, KillerGymSox?

I really wish we had some sort of dodge move. We need some sort of defense for DW builds. The dodge in Oblivion svcked, but something similar would work.

Agile Defender and Unhindered are the only good perks I see there.

Deft Movement would be good if it didn't have the "Wear All Light Armor" restriction, and was just hindered by Heavy Armor.

The stamina perk would likewise be good if it merely restricted Heavy Armor use. Why is Light Armor less restrictive than No Armor?

So they decided to make Light Armor useless again. Why add it as a skill then in the first place?
Armor boosting perks make no sense for light armor whatsoever. If you want defense, you'd simply take heavy armor. Light armor should all be about better movement and dodging, but because you can make your heavy armor weigh nothing, there is no drawback to skip on light.
And the only hand to hand perk goes under heavy armor? Excuse me? You want fistfighting monks to use heavy armor? And the only perk that resembles acrobatics somewhat (half fall damage) is under heavy armor as well. This is beyond ridiculous.
They totally killed any kind of agile character in this game. No athletics, no acrobatics, no agility, no speed, no dodging, best perks for heavy armor. Apparently they want everyone to play as a warrior.

About time they open a mod forum ...

For light armor to work they need:
- "while wearing full suit" replaced with "while wearing no armor or light armor"
- first perk should increase movement speed by 5/10/15/20/25% instead of getting maximum armor
- new perk increases speed of h2h attacks while "no heavy armor"

Also heavy should weigh half instead of nothing..

Sounds good. Except I would make the last perk in the tree one for unarmored, which makes every light armor perk work without any armor, except those that increase defense ratings.

No I see its value. I don't see the point of putting that many perks into getting it.
