Light Armor Perks

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 11:04 am

So if I don't like to wear a stupid helmet I won't have a 25% bonus, I won't have a 10% probability of dodging attacks and my stamina won't regenerate faster? What kind of joke is this??? hello heavy armor.
Heavy armor has the same kind of perks. You get a bonus for being fully armored, especially with a matched set.

I thought matching set meant that the armor you wear is made with the same material, not that you had to be fully armored. Can you clarify please :turned:

It really looks like Enchanting is going to be the number 1 defensive skill again

"All in Heavy Armour" = full set of heavy armour of same or different types. I.e. Dwarven Helmet, Orcish Armour, Steel Boots, Iron Gauntlets.
Matching set = full set of the same armour type. I.e. Dwarven Helmet, Dwarven Armour, Dwarven Boots, Dwarven Gauntlets.

Thanks for the perks, OP. I for one think they look cool.

Thank you for getting these perks!

Both of these are very interesting:

"wind walker
stamina regenerates 50% faster in all light armor: head, chest, hands, feet.

deft movement
10% chance of avoiding all damage from a melee attack while wearing all light armor: head, chest, hands, feet."

Wind walker = more sprinting and a lot more weapon swings
Deft movement = 10% chance you resist normal weapons entirely

Both pretty powerful.

Oh well, one more item in the "to-mod" list. Anyone got lockpicking perks?

You could just save yourself some time and decide to mod those as well...

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Lockpicking Has the known perks listed, but so far there are only two.

What's there to mod, exactly? What the hell were you people expecting from armor perks, exactly? Eye lasers while wearing Glass armor? Wear Dwemer helmets to get a Cylon voice and recruit Dwemer centurions to your cause? Levitation?

They're skills that exist to improve the effectiveness of what you're wearing. The talent trees follow suit.

Now if I can just get the rest of the lockpicking perks.

I'd expect something higher than the "10%" for avoiding damage. The heavy armor perks still seem much superior, I want light armor to be on par with them. Basically you can run and sneak just as well with heavy armor with perks, and you also benefit from the better armor rating. This is Oblivion all over again.

The "all light armor" perks worry me. Does that mean I'm forced to wear a helm if I want those bonuses? I hate wearing helms...

Good perks, they don't sound as mandatory to take as I thought they'd be.

I am starting to wonder if my stealth mage should use mage robes and whatnot instead of light armor. Then I can forfeit the somewhat lame light armor perks and introduce a whole new skill to replace.

That makes absolutely no sense to me. You still can increase your light armor skill and not pick any perks, besides if you are a stealth/mage then why would you pick a lot of light armor perks instead of sneak and a specific magic skill?

agile defender 5 ranks
increase armor rating for Light armor by 20%

custom fit
25% armor bonus if wearing all light armor: head, chest, hands, feet

unhindered
light armor weighs nothing and doesn't slow you down when worn

wind walker
stamina regenerates 50% faster in all light armor: head, chest, hands, feet.

deft movement
10% chance of avoiding all damage from a melee attack while wearing all light armor: head, chest, hands, feet.

matching set
additional 25% armor bonus if wearing a matched set of light armor

How sure are you that this is the complete list? It seems odd that there would be 12 heavy armor perks and only 10 light armor perks.

Wow..these....

So..what do skill raises themselves do Jack squat? these would have been perfectly fine as things you gain over time with Skil raises, deft movement is like the only "Perk" there...

If i chose to wear light armour id have to waste many perks to reach normal movement and still only recover half of my normal regen rate. Plus levelling this skill will increase the rate of my overall level, which means neglecting a more useful skill.ace.
but if yoiu wear no armor you get crappy defence.

Do you have to wear all 4 pieces to get the bonuses?
I really hope this isn't the case. I don't like putting hoods or helmets on my characters.

Yes, you do. It may seem like an unhelpful response, but if you don't want to wear a helmet, then don't pick the perk. Armour will still be a perfectly viable form of defence without the perks, and you can't expect to get the same level of protection if you're not wearing a helmet anyway.

A yes or no would have done but thanks anyway. Actually your response was very helpful, it means I won't waste any perks when it comes to picking them for light armour unless I need to pick one of the perks I won't benefit from to get a perk that I will benefit from. I guess 1 or 2 wasted perks isn't too bad.

Guys at least tell me that there will be bandanas or something alike. I really want to wear light armor but I don't want to equip helmets but if I don't then I won't have half of the perks :dead: this is just cruel.

I am going to also throw my vote in here. It is lame that we need the helmet to activate the perk benefits. I don't wear helmets either.

bandanas are cloth. Anything cloth isn't considered armor.

I like the fact that it doesn't make Light armor as strong as Heavy armor. At the end of Oblivion both tiers just equalled out. Now there's a distinct advantage to either set: unhindered speed or raw defense.

Edit: yeah, scratch that, there's only like 2 things that are different between the armor trees. Heavy armor ending in being completely unhindered kinda breaks the balance, but that's probably a max skill perk.
