So many off topic posts have gone away as well as some flaming, some counter flaming and a bit of spam. What a mess. And just when I was starting to believe we have a lot of mature members in here.

Try to stay on topic and don't call folks names and if you haven't read our rules, please take some time to do so. We're a mean bunch really...

Hello Everybody !
I was watching Hearthfire since release ( Two days ? ).
I am really excited for it as I wanted domestic DLC the most.
Now the thing is , after I saw the trailer , one MAJOR question popped in my head.
Are there different architecture styles ?
( Can I build a house Dwemer themed for example )
The way it looks like , it won't be an option.
Now I've seen this Team Diary on Bethblog ( http://www.elderscrolls.com/community/skyrim-team-diary-6-hearthfire-0/ )
No word or even hint on that , can't say there is supposed to be a hint on that , but it looked like it , they are just showing off the Nordic theme , NOTHING else.
I don't play a Nord , I simply CAN'T and WON'T build a Nordic themed house , I need something that at least resembles my race ( Solitude , Breton ).
I can't even think of the Elven races.
Now if this is the case it's a great disappointment.
I'm still buying the DLC for the Adoption system.
Most probably if I ever make an Nord character again I'll give it a try.
What do you think on this matter ?
Well, I too love different styles of architecture and would love to have a little grass hut but after living in the far north for years I understand that folks in the far north don't build according to where they came from or their from memories of their homeland. They build in the far north in a way that makes sense regardless of where they are from. Much thought has to go into building a home where winter is long and frigid. Thicker walls, thus often northern folks build out of logs. Also getting those logs to a site on a mountain side often requires one use the trees nearby. Availability of building material is scarce in most places in the north and one must use the wood that best stands up to the weather. Hearty roofs so that the snow load won't collapse. Arctic entries so that there are opposing doors at the entrance so that the cold wind won't blow in when entering and exiting.
I suppose you could build a grass hut, or a 2/4 construction and spend time to use decorative features but one's time would be more wisely spent making sure it was sturdy and sound and warm lest you have to burn half the forest just to heat your home.
Guess that is why despite my having neighbors (IRL) who are all different nationalities from around the world in addition to natives to the area, most of our homes are built the same. It has nothing to do with our culture, our likes and dislikes or our style...it has to do with a common climate that is harsh and being practical about it.

That's my thought on it anyway.
