It's gonna be $5 for a reason... That's all i'm gonna say.

Don't get your hopes up.
That's a lot for so little. A few more of these and before you know it you spent $20 on things that had very little content. They should have added more stuff in. There need to be more weapons and armour. There are so few variations.

I would think that people would want something different, since we already have proudspire manor. If you want that, just move there. I personally would rather have something different than the usual. From the trailer, it seems we will, which I'm glad.
I sort of hope the houses are different. Having three identical houses, just in different locations isn't that great.

actually considering the price of other games content nowadays and the amount hearthfire's adding we seem to be getting alot of stuff. i'm surprised microsoft didnt make bethesda raise the price of it

Pelagiad, Ebonheart.

Exactly. Imperial settlements in Morrowind were built in Imperial/Breton/Noridc styles. Obviously there was an abundance of architects who knew that style in the Empire. So in addition to some othe styles already present in Skyrim, a half-timber "mock tudor" Breton house wouldn't be unrealistic. A Telvanni mushroom tower wouldn't be feasible because, one would need a Telvanni architect/mycologist to get it planted. Those lush houses iZsoul linked might not be either. Where are they? New England?

Also, north-eastern Hammerfell must have similar climates and landscapes to parts of Skyrim, especially Falkreath Hold, so a little Redguard architecture might be suitable too. Problem is we don't know what it looks like.

For 5 bucks it is. And from what I understand from the trailer, they're custom made, so they wont all be the same anyway. Identical as far as exterior design, maybe but you can make each one different if you wish I guess. That sounds like a worthy compromise. We'll see in two days.

Realistically, I could not see us getting any options beyond what is already available in the game. Textures, models, and other graphic resources have to be built in order to accommodate multiple build types. It would already take some time to extend upon the resources you already have at your disposal, let alone to make more. You very well might be able to build something close to what a home in Solitude looks like, but that would probably be about it. I'm not counting on you being able to build a Dwemer structure because most of them appear to be take advantage of the geography, meaning they are usually built into the side of a large geographical structure, such as a mountain. We won't know until Tuesday but I think you can for sure count out anything that didn't already exist in Skyrim seeing as how it only costs $5.

I mainly play Nord, but I kind of understand. It would be nice to build a Nordic house with say Breton elements... It does happen. But I don't want to build a Breton house in the middle of the pale... it would be weird and Nord are a supersitious folk....

Edit: I mean slight integration of different, building methods. Say a Japanese man makes a house in the States, he will build an American household but he will probably at least have a few elements from the houses built in Japan.

bethesda knows that, & seeing as this DLC is mainly for rp purposes, it wouldnt make much sense to just have nord architecture as it would be best to cater to everyone's playstyle. hopefully they'll include more

Have you seen any other types of houses in Skyrim other than Nord or ancient ruins? The Nords are likely only going to be selling you plans for Nord houses. Now if we could build castles and forts it would be nice, but we are building a family home, so a Nord house it will likely be. They give us a variety of styles based around the Solitude, Whiterun, and Whindhelm architecture I will be happy enough. Something with a thatch roof does not really appeal so I do not really want to build something like the houses in Morthal, Falkreath or Dawnstar.

mmm, I would love to be able to make a traditional Dunmer home, I'll just head back to Morrowind and get the mat.......oh wait.....yeah, never mind.

It's a nice idea, and it does have some possibilities considering the Orcs have their own settlements in the game, but having never actually ventured into Orsinium, I have no idea about what a proper Orc house or mansion would look like.

Again, nice idea, but not really going to happen.

I just want to be able to build a stone structure. I want to build a Dawnguard outpost. A tower would be great, if not, a house will do. I really hope we can name our dwellings.

Let us hope the different plots, and the way the holds come across i.e. Falkreath for a warrior, Hjaalmarch salt marsh for the sneaky type.. bring about different styles.
Like Oblivion's player housing, just not so restrictive in terms of set design.

Let us hope updates continuously bring this DLC more life in the coming months, maybe your prayer will be answered if it is not tomorrow.

Thats sounds like a Bioware excuse.
While Mass Effect is my favorite game franchise of all time, I would have to agree to some extent. They shouldn't stick to just nordic building types like stone solitude buildings and whiterun wood buildings and things like that, they should branch out a bit more and give a architectural style for each race. Like to represent the Dunmer you could build a house like those in Morrowind.

But its in the homeland of the nords. Why would they sell house plans from other cultures?

Its not house plans, its a deed to some land, so its your land and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. Im just saying they shouldn't restrict it to only nord type buildings but to still keep it viable within Elder Scrolls Lore.

In the trailer it showed a book with house plans in it, so....

Yeah, it looks like it is the same style of book as the Home Decoration Guides that you get when buying a house in one of the 5 main holds. I imagine it is the same concept, except instead of speaking to a housecarl to buy furniture, you craft it at the new crafting table.
