Mass Effect Thread #58

Spoiler
That was right after the attack, who knows how much time it took between the attack and the Crucible firing. Also disengaging from battle isn't as easy as turning around and hitting the accelerator, those ships could've been unable to retreat. But like i said in the post on the top of the third page, i'm looking at the big picture, so i don't really care about the exact details

Spoiler
I don't see why it matters how long it took, the attacking force was written off as dead meaning no one was coming to pick them up, and the space battle was still going on when the Crucible fired. Joker was the only one shown leaving the battle, and your final squad somehow teleported onto the Normandy in perfect condition despite everyone else being dead or near death, this is what happens. These things are not explained, and they don't really make any sense given the characters and the situation, thus they're plot holes.

Again, I would have been perfectly fine with the ending if not for this incredible, and pointless, leap in logic at the very end. It was just forced melodrama.

In terms of readiness score, am I meant to be looking at my 'total military strength' or 'effective military strength'. Just about halfway through my priority missions and trying to figure out how many more assets I need to get for the 'best' ending.

The multiplayer in ME3 is excellent, but I really wish they'd get some of the bugs sorted. I just lost control of my character and randomly started flying away for the third time. That bug was in the demo. There's no excuse for it.

Effective is the one that counts.

Overall besides the whole EDI thing and the sixing up of some characters, I like where its going.

Also plenty of non squad mate characters to talk to while on ship as well.

Is it just me, or are the squad members incredibly dull in ME3? There's very little dialogue, not much interaction between them, and they all have generally 'meh' personalities.

I've been taking EDI and Javik on missions to compliment my soldier Shepard, but they don't really do much. This, in combination with the 'Zaeed dialogue' make the interactions with the squad impersonal. Maybe I've just made poor choices in regard to who to bring along with me?

The ending is utterly terrible, possibly the single worst ending to a game I have ever seen. The rest is brilliant and stunning, which makes it all the more of a shame.

How are you guys enjoying the multiplayer?
How was the campaign? In terms of gameplay and story and such of course.

I think I'll buy this game later, when it costs like $30.

Once you get off ofthe Citidel in ME1 it becomes an amazing game (though I still think whoever designed the worlds you drive around on Should be shot). My biggest peeve about ME2 is the damn inrto, it makes replaying/starting over a pain in the ass.

This. I personally want to punch the person who thought how the ending played out was a good idea.

I'm about 8 hours in with Mass Effect 2 and I'm on Horizon which is my least favorite mission in ME2. Hopefully I'll have the game beaten in around 20 hours although that would mean I'd have to skip dialoge and not Recruit Legion or Grunt (Roleplaying reasons for Grunt not being in the party). Avenger is easily the worst gun in the history of Mass Effect, made the game a pain in the ass until I got the Vindicator. That's including both Mass Effect 2 and 3 as I didn't notice any difference with the Avenger in ME2 and 3.

I'm hearing that a lot of people who are importing a ME2 character who was originally created in ME1 are having issues with ME3 not properly importing the custom face.

I hope that won't happen to me, my character is also from ME1.

I heard about that problem as well and I'm not happy about it because I really like the face that I created for my Female Shepard. I got it about 90-95% accurate from what it was in ME1 in ME2, although I still would've liked to have kept that face.

I have one question, what the hell were they thinking making the Graal Spike Thrower? It regularly outperforms most sniper rifles. It's got super high damage, perfect accuracy, half decent spare ammo pool, not a slow reload for something this powerful, and fires fairly fast for something this big. It even has a charge up function for extra carnage. If I wasn't an Adept I would use this as my main gun with pretty much any class ever. I love this gun! It and the Paladin are a team of instant giblets fun.

I've been doing a lot of side quests lately. I'll do a mission for the main quest then do a few side quests. That way it'll take longer for the MQ to end. :)

Spoiler
You're beat it in a lot less than 20 hours.

The official gameplay time is anything between 5 and 20 hours for the main mission, and up to 40 if you do all of the side missions and conversations.

You're on Horizon in 8 hours?

Have you done any side missions at all? I'm 36 hours in and just got done with Horizon.

I got to Horizon fairly early, too. It's usually when of the first things I do before I focus on side missions.

He's talking about ME2. I'm putting this in spoiler tags because the fact that there's a mission on Horizon in ME3 probably counts as a spoiler.

LOLOLOLOLLLLLLL - Yes you can.

In Mass Effect 1 - (X Biotic) Specialist achievement allowed you to use that ability on a new character.

In Mass Effect 2 - (Advance Training) For characters who's loyalty you've gained you can gain their "loyal ability". Miranda is slam for example.
ME1 yeah I made the mistake and forgot, havent played in awhile. But ME2 you gain Slam for Miranda. But if you are a Soldier only, you personally do not gain it for you character, only if you are a biotic class. I have played through ME2 a few times and never once gained it as a soldier and I always do the loyalty missions.

Um, no. You can get it as any class by spending 5000 eezo at the upgrade station.
