Underrated: Betrayal At Krondor. It won Game of the Year back in 1993, was the first 3D open world game (I believe), and was my favorite game for about 10 years, yet when I see lists of the best RPGs of all time most people don't even mention it.

Overrated: Any first person shooter that puts out a new version every year.

I can't think of an overrated game, I think all the popular games that I played actually deserved their popularity. I don't play so many, though.
Age of Conan is a game I think it's very underrated and underplayed for what it offers, they pushed it too soon in the market but now most of the initial problems are solved but the damage is done, people were scared away.

Most overrated game for me would be Modern Warfare 3. All my friends say it's awesome; I can't play it for more than 10 minutes at a time. Most underrated would be Suikoden II. That game never got the attention it deserved.

Overrated: Skyrim, oblivion, mass effect, borderlands, CoD and Assassins creed.

Underrated: Alpha protocol. Seriously one crappy reviewer (angry joe) showed he had no idea how to play the game, and gave it a 4/10. He seemed to expect it to play like gears or mass effect. Its CC is amazing. Its gameplay reminds me of mass effect 1, only decisions matter.

Metro 2003. My favorite fps, ever.

NOX is severely underrated, and I feel that both Arcanum and Planescape are vastly overrated.

Overrated: The entire Call of Duty series

Underrated: Morrowind, I know there are a lot of fans for it, I mean A LOT, but when Oblivion and Skyrim released it seemed as more TES fans came in, the number of Morrowind fans started to be in a bad ratio with the new fans...

Which works in Bethesda's favor. Sure, the Morrowind people had more voice back in the summer, but that's because Oblivion/Morrowind had a fairly dedicated fanbase. Since Skyrim tries too hard to not walk off the main road, it attracts much more people and original people are drowned out. It's like the Forsworn of the Reach. Even though Beth dropped the ball on almost...well, everything, nobody really knows that since most people playing are first timers. If you have played Oblivion or Mowworwing, it's kind of disappointing.

Over: Pretty much every modern Bioware game, GTA 4, and 90% of first person shooters.

Under: Gothic series, Mount and Blade, Arx Fatalis, Deus Ex, GTA:SA, too many old RPG's to even put them down here, Thief Series, Risen others I can't think of atm

In your opinion...I find Skyrim better than all the previous entries of the series

I'll say Morrowind is overrated in these forums. Other than that I find both Uncharted and LBP very overrated, I get why people like the series and I admit they're good games but I just don't have any fun when playing them.

As for underrated RDR to an extent, I know a lot of people love it but I've also met people that say it's very boring, which I agreed until I gave the game a second chance and I'm glad I did.

EDIT: GTA SA is also a good overrated example. I mean yeah it's a good game but meh, I find IV personally a lot better and unlike a lot of fans of the series appreciate the slightly more realistic approach.

Underrated: Fallout NV. It was everything Fallout 3 should have been mechanics-wise, but the media gave it flak for being a Fallout 3 clone. Even though I enjoyed Fallout 3 more as a sandbox game, I felt people were unfair to NV.

Mercenaries on PS2: great fun in a massive destructible free roaming warzone, but it seems like I was the only one who played it.

Overrated: Dragon Age Origins. It just bored me. kill, move kill, repeat ad infinitum.

under rated, prototype, i actually felt like an edrith (i know thats not how you spell it) abomination in this game, i can't think of one game that made me feel like some dark monster able to wreak havok (insert evil laugh)

Call of Duty IS majorly overrated, but I still like it (besides Black Ops' plot and all the overpowered killstreaks)

I kind of like FarCry 2, but it gets a lot of hate

Overrated: Dragon Age: Origins

I enjoyed it, and played through it, but there was nothing really original about the game. It was mostly fun, but not exceptional.

Underrated: Jade Empire

I loved Jade Empire; loved the setting, the storyline, the fighting styles... disappointing it didn't get enough love to warrant a sequel.

I thought people just hated the bugs ? NV was underrated then, it was superior to fallout 3 in almost every way. More impressive becuase it had less time, and had to use bethesdas horrible engine.

I liked DAO. Not sure why, but yes it gets too much praie. I like it, but nits hardly the greatest thing in modern gaming, that some mke it out to be.

Explain FNV for me. Until all dlcs let me be lvl 50 I wasnt a god like fallout 3, the world was less stupid "oh lets scavenge, even after 200 years, screw farming", gameplay was worse, the only thing it did better was the open world.

Brink was a broken game. Poor AI, short SP and serious issues with online.

disappointing it didn't get enough love to warrant a sequel.
Oh no its not. Bioware has a habiy of taking what people liked in the first game, removing it, then making it more actiony, then letting david silverman try and convince you its a good game.
