New Vegas and Replayability

Not really, a majority in a minor fraction could just be a minority in the majority combined with all the other fractions pieced together.

Power of the atom, replicated man, trouble on the home front,Those, gotta shoot them in the head. full of point lookout ,ending of project purity etc.Tbh if you had played what 800 hours like you said you have (so have i) you would remember they quest ohh yeah tranquility lane. And pacifist is very vague what not killing npc's or good npc's or anything.

Power of atom:
1. Blow Megaton.
2a. Defuse bomb.
2b. Turn in Mr Burke.

Replicated Man
(Once you've aquired the info from lots of annoying sources.)
1. Turn in Harkness.
2. Tell Zimmerman his android is dead and reveal the truth to Harkness.

Those
1. Choose between killing the guy behind it and killing the queen.
2. Or just kill the queens guardians.
1/2b. Help the whiny brat get a home.

Shoot Them In The Head
1. Shoot them.
2. Steal the keys.
3. Talk them out of it.

Superhuman Gambit.
1. Kill.
2. Talk.

It's 2AM in Sweden so for now I stand corrected, will review some of the quests for NV and FO3 tomorrow when I have time/energy for it.

1 you can actually kill mr zimmer with a gun that harkness gives you a3-21 plasma rifle 2 I'm not sure but i think theres more options need to check 3 Use they keys to you're advantage and don't turn them in. 4 Kill talk you could say that for every quest.

i found the replayability to be really bad in new vegas, each playthrough kinda seemed the same, what could of helped give a lot more replayability? :ninja: :nerd:

I honestly think it depends on the person. Some people love FONV and the wordy quests and that, I guess, it makes more sense to them. there is not so much fighting and it's more role-playee. Some people like FO3 and all the cool places to explore, the giant robot, the AntAgonizer, the Behemoth Mutants, finding Bobbleheads and keeping them, finding schematics, going into town and having a big old shoot out with a bunch of Raiders or ghouls or mutants, the atmospheric craziness of it all.

You can guess which one is my favorite. I do like both games though. :)

There are 'philosophical' facts and there are scientific/objective facts. These are not the same. Don't confuse them. :P
It may be an emotional fact for me, but that does not make it a scientific fact. In other words, tossing the word 'fact' around when one is talking about one's single, personal opinion or "all my friends/chat buddies think so" type of statement (which is neither scientific nor a general abstraction that may apply to a known majority) is confusing & not very accurate and thus internet forum arguments are born.

...and I've had lots of replay value from NV, but it doesn't have a whole lot to do with quests, number of quests, the main quest, exploration or lack thereof, invisible walls or lack thereof, different ways to do quests or anything of that sort. Not that I don't like/appreciate those things, I do...and I do like that I still occasionally stumble across something I hadn't noticed before (because I haven't done every single chr/quest option in every single possible way etc), but I'm mostly about combat mods, difficulty mods, companions & various odd silliness. eg, I'm sure without mods or high attachment to certain characters (Boone, Arcade), I would not have found quite as much replayability.

Oh, I was just reading the last couple pages or so where ppl were arguing about what is a fact vs opinion and all of that. It's kinda funny (to me) how over my lifetime, that word seems to have become a fairly malleable thing, depending on who you talk to.

Hmm, let's see... we have two contradicting opinions:
opinion A = [F3>FNV]
opinion B = [FNV>F3]
A =/= B
with the premise that opinion = true fact (TF), which would lead to:
[F3>FNV] = A = TF
[FNV>F3] = B = TF
A = B
And the universe implodes.

Why do people even want to have those arguments? They're unwinnable, precisely because opinions are NOT facts, which is kind of obvious since they're contradicting. Jeebus.

Right now I'm just hoping this thread dies of overload, but then again, others will come. Are most people on these boards twelve or something?

So, what was this topic about again?

You actually seem to care.

Yes, and no. I care to the point where I have a fun game. Both are fun, but in different ways. I have said before, and I repeat, I would love to see a FO3 and FONV mashup. Bethesda build great worlds.

I don't like Fallout 3. It violates my canon. There, can I get a video of you slamming those bits? :goodjob:

The only canon that matters is the content owners. Dr Who canon has been tortured over the years, yet I still enjoy it.

To all those who cry about "lore" and "canon"... it's a game. Treat each one on it's merits, and take it less seriously.

This I can get along with. Obsidian can do the writing, quests, and companions, and Bethesda can do the rest (including exploration and combat).

Having said that though, Bethesda really picked a GREAT location. Washington? After the bombs have hit? Very, very damned smart, and much kudos to them for that.

Also (not directed at you but in general), to bring up game mechanics in this discussion tends to be a bit silly. It's an evolution of a pre-existing engine. To NOT expect some game mechanic improvement is just silly.

Dude.

(fact) I have not grown bored with New Vegas. (fact) many others have not grown bored with New Vegas, (fact) I would've been much happier with Fallout 3 with a few simple changes to the base game.

The POINT of the entire discussion is that a number of posters, OP included, say 'I have grown bored with NV therefore everyone else also did or should because NV is boring and F3 is so much better and btw that is totally a fact of science and the ultimate truth!!!1!!!!!'
Furthermore, they say it repeatedly on forums dedicated to FNV, stating over and over that F3 is superior, which is just bad etiquette, if not outright trolling. I wish they would stop and everyone could just go on with their buisness, enjoying the games they are enjoying.

Fortunately Gamebryo is done with. Pretty sure that we've seen the last of it.

BTW: Beth did pick a great location, Obsidian on the other hand (IMO) did not pick the best location, which took a little something away from what would otherwise be a great game.

This thread is an epistemological minefield.

Anyway, there are lots of sticks one might beat NV with but replayability's surely not one of them. Between the many different quest outcomes and the many different character builds you can play I really don't see the complaint here.

Because replaying the same plot an having to explore to enjoy a game obviously leads to Replayability being greater. Obviously.

Hell no. Fallout NY would be like an entire game made based off of the worst parts of FO3 (the city and subways).

I personally think that NV has more replayability, it has more quest and sidequest to do, along with the companion quest and different endings to see.

Also, for the "fact" thing, there is only one fact, opinions are not fact, not matter how many people agree with the same thing, believe it or not, some people enjoyed the desert of New Vegas than the Subways and the cities of Washington D.C, but thats a opinion

Never!
But really, it's not "just a game" for me, it's the one franchise I deeply love, which is the reason I get so fired up about it.
I love Dragon Age Origins for example and while I don't like the changes in Dragon Age 2 the first game was still "just a game" for me.
So while I get mildly irritated at the design decision it's not something I act like an elitist about.
So there's a difference between "just a game" and a franchise one loves and has loved for a decade.

This I can get along with. Obsidian can do the writing, quests, and companions, and Bethesda can do the rest (including exploration and combat).

Bethesda's gonna do combat? D:
Bleh, hopefully they'll balance it, both Bethesda and Obsidian failed at that in FO3 and NV respectively.

Having said that though, Bethesda really picked a GREAT location. Washington? After the bombs have hit? Very, very damned smart, and much kudos to them for that.

Maybe it's cause I'm not american or because I'm not very interested in the capital but Fallout could really take place in any city/town/state and I wouldn't care much about it as long as it followed lore and had great writing.
DC was beautiful, it really was, but other than that I don't see the big fuzz about it. :P

I've been playing FNV since release and after 6 games, I'm thinking up a new character so I can play again. There are so many choices and ways to go that it holds my interest and remains lots of fun. It's important to manage gameplay, and I do so I don't get tired of games. That's just me and thank you, Obsidian for a great game with so many different ways to play. :)

That was IMHO, of course. :D

For some of us is more than just a "game" its a game with great lore and inmersion, we love that, its not something that you just play and its over at the other day, we like to discuss they pro and cons, we like to talk about the characters, their personalities, suggest something for the game to improve it, and alot more
