Patch 1.4 for Xbox Discussion [merged similar topics]

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 1:33 am

The new patch is currently available as a "beta" for PC. It's in final testing, so it can still be submitted to ms/sony in the next couple of days and be released on consoles before the month is out.

We can only hope bro. I myself, am very much looking forward to it.

Tested last night with Lydia- it works! Great find, Woody79! Did you come to this deductively or by some other logic, or were you just messing with the Wabbajack? Just curious.

Yes, everything stays in their inventory. They'll go back to their default gear but if you either walk into/out of an area or open her inventory and take an item she will reequip what you had her set up with.
One thing I noticed was that after un-chickening and getting her to reequip, Lydia switched to sword and shield, even though she used to do two-handed. I had her holding a 45 dmg waraxe for me. which she NEVER equipped before, and suddenly she equipped that and a default steel shield I never gave her.
I think because her skills leveled she went for the new gear because it was better than the ebony sword she had before but wouldn't equip because she couldn't use it as well. Just guessing on that one, but it's pretty nice to not have to handhold her anymore.

Now if only we can figure out a workaround to marry her....
Ohh lord i cant imagine if im currently in love with lidia ...after i wabbajacked her i will be totally broke for her ....damn !!!!! yes i really want to marry her ....

Closing in on 300 hours, more than half of which have been played with a permanently looping audio bug. Please 1.4, please remove the constant sound of hissing poison/fire from my character.

At first, changing to beast form would clear it up, but reload a save and bam ... hiss, crackle, hiss ... loop and repeat. Then I got the permanent werewolf bug, so no more fix. If anyone knows how to "rewrite" their character ... let me know. Maybe the Wabbajack ... maybe if I wabbajack myself. lol

Other than that, thanks for an enjoyable experience Beth.

Sounds like you need a complex fix. The links below may help you, if you have a pc and the tools to alter your Skyrim save file, or you know someone with Skyrim for PC that would be willing to help. (I'm sure you can find someone on the PC side of this forum.

Edit: What needs to happen is on Xbox turn beast, then save. Go to PC, and enter console command to change back to human, save, then put back on Xbox.

I agree, that is a pretty good sign. I've been reading the PC side of the Forums and the overall concensus is pretty damn positive. But like Llamaskull said above, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed until it's done downloading and installing from Xbox Live... once it goes live that is.

Thank you. Well, I have no business messing around with .dat files.

The bug is not a game-killer, especially outside in the wind or rain. Deep in a quiet dungeon, however, the constant hiss is impossible to ignore.

On the positive side, my game has had relatively few quest bugs. Almost none actually. Maybe the audio loop is granting +60 magicka to the quest script engine. lol

Thank You Bethesda,
For the continued support & updates to your amazing game. (except when you fix the glitches I like) :)
Also for taking time to read and respond to comments and complaints posted by your fans.
Keep up the good work!

This may seem a bit silly of a question, but do the patches automatically download, or do I have to get them from the Xbox live marketplace?

I don't know if this is common but my character is level 44, and whenever I go into the items menu, it constantly freezes when clicking on different items, whenever I select a different piece of armour or weapon it freezes everytime for minutes, svcks :/ and with the markarth bounty, where you get framed, the guard stops me, and i select 'I submit take me to jail' but nothing happens!!! Anyone have any similar problems or suggestions??? Would be much appreciated :)

when you play the game and you are connected to live it will prompt a download for an update

The menu freeze problem.. can be caused (mostly) by two issues.. 1)Your controller (if wireless), Test it with a wired controller, or reload/change the battery.
2) Autosave is on.. Disable it... or let it only autosave on fasttravel or waiting.

As for the Markarth issue.. I would advise: Wait for 1.4 or in the meantime read either these two wiki-articles.

I don't remember, how big was 1.2 and 1.3? Is 190 unheard of or is that what it should be?

Yes, everything stays in their inventory. They'll go back to their default gear but if you either walk into/out of an area or open her inventory and take an item she will reequip what you had her set up with.

Just a warning on this, some items are disappearing on me when doing this. I haven't nailed down what the exact cause is, but for example a pair of upgraded Ancient Shrouded Boots disappeared from Kharjo, J'zargo, and Jordis every single time, yet they still had Daedric artifacts, upgraded enchanted weapons, and normal items in their inventory. J'zargo also poofed upgraded enchanted Stormcloak Officers chest but held onto upgraded enchanted Elven armor. So, it is confusing but you might want to double check after wabbajacking to make sure everything is there.

Its just how MS manages its patches, its small to fit in the cache, any larger would have to be a major update that needs to be downloaded off the market place and stored on your hard drive.

A lot of people have had this problem at this location, myself included.
By any chance, did you notice a frostbite spider in a tent when you came up out of the first part of the dungeon to the big clearing with the 2 briarhearts and all the other foresworn?
Some have said that they got the lag in that area until they killed the spider. That wasn't the case for me- it just seemed like the game was having trouble just working through loading up the area and all the enemies, and it seemed to decrease gradually as I started whittling down the number of enemies. I only found the spider after I had taken down everyone else.

But yeah, I don't think it's a long- term stability issue, just an issue specific to that location. I'm pushing 300 hours and keeping my saves down and clearing cache every so often and my game's still holding up pretty well.

YEESS I saw the spider ....and in my case she was the last i killed actually but im glad to know this is an area related issue and not a long term condition ...thanks a lot for the reply..honestly i have no idea what that frostbite spider was doing there in the middle of more than 10 foresworn in the first place she seemed to be kind of stuck on the tent as a matter of fact....but great thanks for the reply ..appreciate..the funny thing is that i had visited that location before (i wonder around a lot) and i dont remember the damn spider there ....

Those crazy foresworn- trapping spiders in tents......
Yes, I blame them for putting the spider in there.

Seriously, I don't know why the devs put a frostbite spider in the tent, or maybe she's a glitch.

Sorry if this has been asked before; (I have trailed the previous posts, but couldn't find what I was looking for! :$) for the 360, will the upcoming 1.4 update overwrite/include the fixes from the previous patches, and will I have to start a new game for those fixes to be implemented? I ask because I haven't used any patches before, since *touch wood* my game's been fine... *so far*. I figured I might as well download 1.4 since it'll allegedly do a lot for my game.

Thanks

The new patch supersedes all previous updates. It will include the 1.3 fixes as well as adding the new ones. If you're worried about 1.2 and the problems it caused, they were eliminated (for the most part) by 1.3. So 1.4 should be a further improvement. The PC guys are already using it and their reaction seems positive for the most part, so we have reason to anticipate 1.4 happily.

Thank you for the quick reply! How did the 1.3 patch fare, out of interest? I think that's the one XBox Live keeps nagging me to install currently.
