The Wabbajack is a daedric artifact given to you by Sheogorath when you complete the "Mind of Madness" quest. You can activate this quest by talking to a man called Dervenin in Solitude, near the Bards College.

Then you use this "weapon" against your follower. That's it.

In the same quest you learn how to use it.

Alright thank you very much. Now I can get Llydia up to my level as im just about to level up to 25, been waiting to figure out to do this before i lvl up so she will be my level.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear. I'm referring to the Follower Carry Limit bug:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim_talk:Followers#Follower_Carry_Weight

In a nutshell (if that "talk point" is tldr):
"The problem is that there is a bug that adds the default weapons to the followers every time they get re-employeed by you. In other words, when you re-employee Lydia, she will get another bow in her default, hidden-away inventory. You cannot see this when you trade with her, but showinventory will show you the additional bow. (This also explains why some Aela has multiple default bows.)"

Thus it's not a bug likely to be noticed unless you dismiss/reemploy the same follower numerous times, but if you have, the followers worth as a mule eventually becomes nil. Obviously being able to level-up the follower will increase the top-end of their carry limit (due to Stamina increase), but I was just curious if it also did a hard reset of their hidden inventory too.

If you weren't aware of the bug then presumably you can't answer whether the Wabbajacky trick influences it. No biggie. I'm just glad to find that someone found a work-around for the follower leveling problem. Kudos!

Sorry for the stupid question, but after the patch 1.4, i will have to start a new character or I'll be able to play with my current campaign that's stuck with 3 bugs on three different quests normally, with the bugs solved?

It shouldn't require that you restart but it's possible some quest fixes won't work retroactively.

Yes Ryan, I read that informations, thanks, but after that, I'll no longer stay stuck with my current character? I mean, will solve the problems for campaign already started?

Yes? =) No? =(

Please read carefully the Bethesda blog. The patch had not been released so far. As soon as it's the case, you can read it in the Sticky thread above. ;-)

interesting...im not sure.

i have Wabbajacked Lydia about 15 times now...and just for giggle...I just killed her and looted her corpse...on her corpse all that was listed besides the gear i gave her was her Steel Armor, boots, Gauntlets, her bow (I couldn't see these items in her inventory before i killed her) So im not sure if this proves anything either way.

However, Since Wabbajacking your follower causes your follower to be "re-spawn" It may be safe to assume since your follower is a "new version" of that follower...the amount of times you employ them gets reset also.

Because the Wabbajack causes the game to flat out re-create/respawn your follower upon transformation and reverting back...thats why all their gear is unequiped...its almost like getting a new version of that follower.

so in "theory" mind you...the Wabbajack should also allow you to get around the carry limit bug as well....try it and post back results :)

its an interesting thought,.

Just so I have it straight (sorry to beat a dead horse) you must...

1: Dismiss (tell them you no longer require their services) your companion

2: Hit with Wabbajack

3: Wait until they revert to normal and they should have leveled up

My question however, since I have not tried this yet is, once dismissed, do you need to follow them back to their castle (or your house) and wabbajack them there? Or do you get some time where you are standing to hit them? Also, does everything they turn into attack you? If so, is the re-vert time short so you aren't forced to kill them before they kill you? And if you do "attack" them in a town or the like once they are dismissed, will you take any form of penalty or fine for it? And my final question (again, so sorry, just want to be clear as i'll be passing this info on to fellow friend Skyrim players) You dismiss and hit and they revert, EVERYTHING you have ever given them and they are currently holding will still be there, correct?

Hmmm, I wonder if using Wabbajack on a Dead Thrall would also level it up appropriately?

To be fair... a mod is "basically" a normal user with.... ehhhh .....hhrrmm... mod tasks... and powers.. He/She is not a developer or employed by Bethesda..
In other words while it is likely that there will be retroactive fixing, we will have to wait... and see... what 1.4 will really do for quest fixing..

Awesome guys!

I stumbled upon this one day about a month ago messing around with the Wabbajack. I asked a few of my friends to try it, and it worked for them too. I later found it was posted on the UESP so it seemed like i wasn't the only one messing around with the Wabbajack LOL

Anyways using this Wabbajack will level your followers properly and give them the HP and skill increases they should get, thus making them viable followers...it seems housecarls are the best from like Level 50.....and if you play the game up to the 80's level...Jzargo is best then.

I just wabbajacked Benor...he is now level 30...in a few levels...i'll have to trade him out for Mjoll on this playthorough as she will be viable till around level 45(since Mjoll levels up to level 40), after that...i'll have to wabbajack a Housecarl
Quick question and thanks for the webbajack tips ill try today...for sure appreciate ..now when they are back to normal and they have their original gear ..i hope all the gear u gave them is still in their inventory right????? anybody can confirm?

You are correct. Just figured I'd link for relevancy. The best thing to do is, as you've said, wait and see.

no I am not trolling.

There is bug with followers, Their level increases BUT they DO NOT get ANY increase in HP, or any of their skills...thats why your Thall Spell works or don't work.

http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Followers (Read under folllower stats)

to test this, its simple.

1. Save your game. then dismiss Khjaro
2. Cast a lighting boltl spell on Kharjo and watch his HP meter and how much it goes down.
3. now save and Wabbajack Khjaro until he turns into a mudcrab, a rabbit, or a chicken.
4. if he reverts to his default gear it worked/
5. now cast the same lightening bolt on him....tou will see he has more HP and his meter doesn't decrease as much.

If you got lydia early in the game, she would be the best to try this on....it does work....i have tested here on 5 different followers and it does work.

As i said, their level goes up, but they gain no extra HP and their skills don't go up unless you Wabbajack them. housecarls can reach a max level of 50...most favor followers can get a max level of 30...MJoll gets level 40 and Jzargo is the only follower that can reach level 81...
Tested last night with Lydia- it works! Great find, Woody79! Did you come to this deductively or by some other logic, or were you just messing with the Wabbajack? Just curious.
Quick question and thanks for the webbajack tips ill try today...for sure appreciate ..now when they are back to normal and they have their original gear ..i hope all the gear u gave them is still in their inventory right????? anybody can confirm?
Yes, everything stays in their inventory. They'll go back to their default gear but if you either walk into/out of an area or open her inventory and take an item she will reequip what you had her set up with.
One thing I noticed was that after un-chickening and getting her to reequip, Lydia switched to sword and shield, even though she used to do two-handed. I had her holding a 45 dmg waraxe for me. which she NEVER equipped before, and suddenly she equipped that and a default steel shield I never gave her.
I think because her skills leveled she went for the new gear because it was better than the ebony sword she had before but wouldn't equip because she couldn't use it as well. Just guessing on that one, but it's pretty nice to not have to handhold her anymore.

Now if only we can figure out a workaround to marry her....

Yes Ryan, I read that informations, thanks, but after that, I'll no longer stay stuck with my current character? I mean, will solve the problems for campaign already started?

Yes? =) No? =(

What he means is that your current character should no longer be stuck in whatever quest lines that they may be stuck in. However, as the Mod that Ryan quoted states, the patch may not work retroactively which would mean that your character might just remain stuck and that particular save file is screwed.

It's really kind of a 50/50 shot on whether or not it will fix it on previously saved games or not.

Just wait until 1.4 goes live, and then we'll all find out.

;)

The new patch is currently available as a "beta" for PC. It's in final testing, so it can still be submitted to ms/sony in the next couple of days and be released on consoles before the month is out.
