Patch 1.4 for Xbox Discussion [merged similar topics]

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 7:33 pm

Just read the details about patch 1.4. Big list, I have to say. Patience seems to be pay off. First, thanks to Bethesda for all the effort to optimize the game!

Now my question:
It has been stated several times that broken quests will remaining broken even after patch 1.4 has been released. Is that confirmed? Do I have to begin with a new character to be on the safe side?

If it does then I'm not going to be playing mine anymore, I'm at the end of the glitched civil war quests, main quest has bugged out on me near the end, as well as several other side quests and I'm 170+ hours in on my first play through. Tried ALL possible workarounds that 'could' work on 360 and they haven't. I'm not putting more time into it if it is the case because I paid day one price for something and I couldn't even do what is advertised as the main selling point for the game.

Achh... I was hoping for a Markarth guard fix too...

Also, why no fix for mannequins in 360? It only lists PS3.

And most importantly...Why has the issue of quest items being stuck in your inventory even after finishing quests still there?? That should have been a priority-and simple-fix.

Sigh..

I have deleted a number of posts, in the main this has remained a reasonable and civil discussion but attacking and flaming other members for their opinions, findings, or whatever else will not be tolerated.

Keep on topic guys and stay cool please.

Many people have not been able to complete thieves guild, and it's not addressed.

They did fix ash piles though. Rofl!

[censored] to this patch!
Ash piles are a serious issue that can cause your game to lag and crash not to mention save game bloat. It's one of ny most irritating bugs and I am glad it was addressed.

I cannot continue any companions quests since my quest is complete yet not complete, and I cannot get work from the other members. I really hope they add a fix to this with the upcoming update

Why didn't they fix "The Cornered Rats" problem ? It's one of the first in the "official" list

Main Questline

A Cornered Rat - #7/#131

Quest: A Cornered Rat
Type: Main Quest
Description: After completing "Diplomatic Immunity" Delphine does not give me the next quest "A Cornered Rat"
...

Maybe it's not "fixable", it would be nice to have some news about this one... Please ? Someone ?

This sounds like a good patch, but they really forgot one important thing here.

Fixing followers!

Followers DO NOT level up, they are stuck at the level you were when you enter the town they live in...not when you recruit them....this is why Lydia is so weak....

Followers need to be fixed so they level properly.

also to anyone who wants to level up their followers on the console like Xbox or PS3...Dismiss your follower, use the Wabbajack on your follower and keep using it until they turn into a rabbit or a mudcrab, then wait till it wears offf....this will cause your follower to Level up like they are supposed to....otherwise your stuck with followers that are weak all game. You will know it worked if your follower reverts back to their default gear after the transformation.

MJoll can now take away almost 90% health tanking an Ancient Dragon by herself on Master whereas before she was getting pasted in 2 hits....please fix followers Bethesda...i hate wasting charges of such a fun toy like Wabbajack on my followers because they won't level up correctly unless I use Wabbajack on them...

you won't believe how good your followers are when you use Wabbajack to level them up like they were intended....MJoll, Vilkas, Farkas, etc...become the tanks they were supposed to be....Mjoll can punk a Drauger Deathlord at level 45+ by herself now which is quite nice for this robe wearing Mage....

also the Elemental potency perk needs fixed to...it doesn't make Atronachs 50% more powerful...the Storm Atronach goes from level 30 to level 35...that is not 50%...its not even close...it makes Atronachs useless at higher levels...so im stuck summon Dremoras or using Master Vampire Thralls....i really would like to use Atronachs...but their not worth summon at that point...because Elemental Potency doesn't work right....

Lol
Followers not levelling up, items marked in red... Very annoyng, indeed, but not as ennoying as a main quest bugged not allowing you to finish the game !!!!
May I have some help ? Please ? About the "Cornered Rats" bug...

Or is it a game I should have played doing 100 saves/minutes, walking slowly, watching for anything able to kill my game ? Killing what I've paid (a lot !) for ?

You can still go back. Turn the music off. I have been playing for the last 20 hours without music and it is amazing. Don't get me wrong, the score is phenomenal, but with the music off, you will be immersed like never before, trust me.

Your post inspired me to do some testing and I am not seeing these results at all. I just killed Lydia and casted Dead Thrall on her. She was too powerful to be thralled and I entered Whiterun at level 3, and became the Thane with her in Breezehome by level 15. So there is more to the leveling than this.

This sounded awesome I went ahead and gave it a shot. Kharjo has been a weak follower of mine for quite some time. I did everything you said, got him to turn into a mudcrab, let it wear off, then had him follow me. I tried loading a new area, I tried waiting for him to go back to his original location, and everything else you suggested. He still dies and I can cast the expert reanimate on him the same as before. Doesn't even need Dead Thrall.

Were you trolling here?

no I am not trolling.

There is bug with followers, Their level increases BUT they DO NOT get ANY increase in HP, or any of their skills...thats why your Thall Spell works or don't work.

http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Followers (Read under folllower stats)

to test this, its simple.

1. Save your game. then dismiss Khjaro
2. Cast a lighting boltl spell on Kharjo and watch his HP meter and how much it goes down.
3. now save and Wabbajack Khjaro until he turns into a mudcrab, a rabbit, or a chicken.
4. if he reverts to his default gear it worked/
5. now cast the same lightening bolt on him....tou will see he has more HP and his meter doesn't decrease as much.

If you got lydia early in the game, she would be the best to try this on....it does work....i have tested here on 5 different followers and it does work.

As i said, their level goes up, but they gain no extra HP and their skills don't go up unless you Wabbajack them. housecarls can reach a max level of 50...most favor followers can get a max level of 30...MJoll gets level 40 and Jzargo is the only follower that can reach level 81...

no problem bud, it sometimes takes a few tries, but it does work. you will usually know it worked when they switch from the gear you gave them to their default gear they had when you found them once they revert back to normal from being transformed.

Then go out and battle some guys are you will notice...lydia for example if your level 30 or 40 se will start straight up tanking and punking guys on her own that she couldn't before...like im talking she will be able to flat out punk a level 40 badit cheif on her own if your level 40 as well...it means you can actually rely on your follower to watch your back rather then babysitting them.

Also depending on the follower, they do have max levels. This hady spreadseet lays them out.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aly8njaU3H1adGJYTlJaUnRxRUN2RnM5MkxPaU1mQkE

Khjaro has a level max of 30...even if Wabbajacked, he can only get a max of those states.

All housecarls seem to be able to go up to 50.

Jenessa, Mjoll, and a few others can reach max level 40. JZargo is the onkly one who can reach 80 or 81. Please post back your results on the HP...you should notice a different before and after casting the lighting spell for 25 damage that after the transformation their HP bar will not go down near as much as it did before...meaning they have more HP, the Wabbajack made them level properly.

Your summary is absolutely correct. Lydia died to a few casts of Ice Spike. Reloaded the save, wabbajacked, she switched armor, and now the spell barely moves it. Great info. Silly that you have to do it this way but at least you've got a fix, here. Hopefully, they'll add follower stat increase issue to the list of bugs to fix as you've suggested. I think calling it a leveling problem can be misleading, but your post has explained the problem better and should give them exactly what to look at.

I just did this with Brelyna, one hit of the wabbajack would almost kill her for the explosive effects, after turning her into a chicken, and she switched back to her self and default gear, hit her again with the explosive effects, and it took off like 1/8th of her health, so her health def. increased afterwards.

[edit in] i am level 56, so i'd have to guess what her level is equal to, sense I dont know of any way to tell on the console.

I have a question that I can't find the answer to anywhere. I am experiencing 2 glitches. One being the Bloods Honor glitch, I've talked to Vilkas and he tells me all about what we are going to do and then he goes nowhere. It says that this will be fixed with 1.4. Will I have to back up to a previously saved game? If that's the case then I'll start over, because that would mean going back almost to the beginning of my game. Just curious so if anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.

There Is one that a lot of people need fixing. They sold their thieves guild armor and can't get the achievement , maybe throw some armor in the guilds chests ? Just like the Brotherhood . Also Ebern from the Night blades quests aren't working after you kill a dragon from exploring. These quest aren't locatable either : Locate the Quill of Gemination under Lake Honrich , Bring some Frost Salts to Dravyne , Clear Red Belly Mind of Spiders , Bring one Amulet of Arkay to Torbjorn .

Quest that are not working for me : Kill the dragon in lost Tongue Overlook, bring a scale and dragon bone to ESBERN , collect bounty from Brina Merilis,Vist college of Winterhold,Arniels Endeavor. Repairing the Phial.

Oh and a question after you beat the main quest are there still supposed to be dragons everywhere ?

Everyone needs to remember that the relaeased patch notes for 1.4 are not final as of yet and there could still be additions.

Good point, I'm hoping that Diplomatic Immunity is fixed so i can get back to the Main Quest ( I could care less about the unusual gem in the Thalmor Embassy, I need to turn this mission in to Delphine and move on with my life)

Awesome guys!

I stumbled upon this one day about a month ago messing around with the Wabbajack. I asked a few of my friends to try it, and it worked for them too. I later found it was posted on the UESP so it seemed like i wasn't the only one messing around with the Wabbajack LOL :)

Anyways using this Wabbajack will level your followers properly and give them the HP and skill increases they should get, thus making them viable followers...it seems housecarls are the best from like Level 50.....and if you play the game up to the 80's level...Jzargo is best then.

I just wabbajacked Benor...he is now level 30...in a few levels...i'll have to trade him out for Mjoll on this playthorough as she will be viable till around level 45(since Mjoll levels up to level 40), after that...i'll have to wabbajack a Housecarl :)
