PATCH IS OUT !

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:03 am

Btw even b4 the patch there were times when textures wouldn't load properly but you would come back and they would be fine, this has nothing to do with the patch!

Good to know. Thanks.

And I wasn't getting panicky, it was just that I encountered an issue twice in the first 30 mins after installing a patch – an issue I had never seen in 100+ hours of pre-patch play – so I just assumed... However, assumptions are of course always a bad idea, so my apologies for mentioning it.

And in that light, the patched version seems to be working well for me so far. Can't see any reason for not downloading it, although I've only played about an hour so far.

Ah great I spoke to soon. After 30 minutes of play and a trip to windhelm the game lags just as much as before the patch and the blood on the ice quest still won't trigger and the jarls assistant still says the house had some un pleasantries and it ain't available to purchase. History repeats itself yet again.
Had a feeling this was gunna happen...Bethesda released a patch for FO 3 right before GoTY edition was released....we all knw how that went.

Well...still waiting in eastern U.S. will know for sure soon enough.

I haven't patched yet, but I have encountered the texture problem a handful of times throughout my 100+ hours of playtime. One time I got the texture problem on a loading screen and the game totally froze. Other than that the few other times have been non issues.

Wow it seems like the patch is all over the place and works or malfunctions in very weird ways.
I envy everyone since I have yet to play this game but from the sounds of it I might just be best to wait until a year or two down the road when I can get it at a much cheaper price and then discard it without much of a hit to my wallet.

Just a question. has everyone suffering from lag issues attempt to turn autosave off?

one...just one guy said something about the textures and he actually contradicted himself (he said the textures look like xbox360 version now, which were sharper than the ps3 version to beggin with...) and now everyone is taking it for granted...

teh internets....

The funny thing is what i called the whiny-i-dont-know-how-a-calculator-works-but-i-know-why-the-game-is-broken horde. When i changed the texture resolution of oblivion, i downloaded GBs of data... not 92 MB. These are obviously most engine changes.

I have...
It picks up the initial lag that every game has when entering a new area or waiting...but the core issue is still there.

I did it pre-patch. It actually helped a lot. But, too risky as I forget to manually save.

I hope they release the USA version soon.

They are probably using Europe as crash test dummies :)

Patch does nothing for performance, still 15 minutes of play or 3 fast travels before its 1fps.

The reason why this is happening is due to lazy coders.
So this was about damn time...

Anyways, it's very ironic that the PS3 version lags and not the Xbox version as the PS3's CPU is better if taken full advantage of. The Xbox CPU is bad, though the GPU is slightly better than the PS3's

It's understandable if it's GPU-related. Though the PS3's CBE-CPU is capable of taking some of the workload of the GPU, like vertex calculations. Only some extra code needed in the engine. Though Bethesda is to lazy to do that.

Bethesda is about 6 hours away from having a full blown catastrophe on their hands.

I second this

Over the last few hours my mood has peaked with delight and then gradually subsided back into resignation.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the lag problem is just like before (for me anyway). Admittedly it let me play for longer before becoming apparent but after a couple of hours continuous play it's back to the lag fest.

And yes autosaves are off.

Okay guys, I'm over an hour playing and my game has only jittered (as I like to call lag) a couple of minor times. Pre-patch the game would be getting pretty bad by now, so it seems they have at the very least helped the problem, I will continue to keep you guys updated though :) (and hope for the best)

It hasn't been fixed for me. There may be a slight improvement but on the whole it still grinds to a halt when you do something. File size is 13MB (down from 14 before the patch).

Damn, this is unbelievable. What is this? A sabotage to boycott PS3 owners?

I will just buy Dark Souls and avoid developers that are married to Micro$oft.

For me it's totally playable but i'm aware different people have different views on what is and isn't playable. Before the patch my lag was awful and totally unplayable unless you wanted to play for 5 mins at a time.

Now it is a million times better but there are still some instances of slight lag (and I would like to emphasize the word slight). My only worry is that when I add another couple of mb to my save file it will get really bad again. Time will tell.

I will repeat what i said in another thread (i'm not referring to you).
"I will be brief. Save file size is not an issue, it wasn't that the problem also before. The problem was probably how the engine accessed to disk and how much data the game cached in RAM. Bigger save file = bigger changes in the world = in long session play too mach data cached so people noticed lag (that wasn't so bad as it was depicted by the horde). This patch, in theory, has improved how much data are cached and disk access. It's NORMAL that you filesize increase. Don't follow the whiny-i-dont-know-how-a-calculator-works-but-i-know-why-the-game-is-broken horde."

So don't worry, if they fixed the cache problem, you can have a 40MB file.

Game stuck while doing autosave after 5 Min!!! (I changed setting) When entering a dungeon for a short but noticeable time it seemed to freeze again. Hope that's just my subjectiv view. Please check Bethesda!!!

greez (Game's fantastic! Luv it)

ps:: forgot to say that it seems to be a patch related problem. Because for 80 Hours before installing today there wasn't any compulsory breaks.
