PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 11

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:07 am

Reminder: Do not buy Dawnguard when it comes out for PC/PS3.

Ditto for the next DLC.

Buying the ones after that is acceptable, but for now Beth should pay for their participation in Microsoft's bribery.

I sympathize with everyone who doesn't have access to the DLC (especially PS3 users) but if you aren't going to buy the Dawnguard DLC, I would abstain from it for an entirely different reason. The DLC has some nasty bugs. NASTY. BUGS. I haven't ran into all of them, but enough of them to know that if they aren't fixed hastily, I won't be buying further DLC just to be sure I don't wreck my game.

It has already been stated that the bugs probably won't be fixed for the PS3 and PC release (PC users obviously less worried about this fact) but am I out of line for suggesting that it may be part of the reason they are delaying information? Maybe they really are going to implement fixes before throwing it out to the PS3 and PC crowd?

QuakeCon starts next Thursday, I would imagine there might be some sort of announcement there (provided no one goes into labor again).

All this talk of "bribery." You guys hear about 38 Studios? Curt Schilling's video game studio that fell apart when they ran out money? 400 people lost their jobs. The video game industry is cutthroat and volatile. Hundreds of people losing their jobs at once is a common occurrence. If Bethesda takes money from Microsoft or Sony, its not a bribe, it is responsible business decision to reduce the cost and the risk of their investment.

If there was no exclusive, releasing it on PC first would make sense. You probably have the mod community compile a list of unofficial fixes in one or two days. Then all the homework is already done for Beth.

Read this, its SO True:

Bethesda is the thalmor, they are the most powerful people right now.
Microsoft is the empire signing the whitegold-concordat (exclusive dawnguard).
Ps3 are the stormcloaks being treated bad and want? freedom.
PC are the forsworn having their series stolen from them (skyrim and oblivion) which was rightfully theirs (morrowind).

I agree though i think the roles of Beth and Microsoft are backwards

Anyhow i dont care anymore Started playing AOC 2 days ago so now im going to have something to do. So i will get it when its out but thats all. From now on no more anticipation for games..... IDC if they or any other company Guarrentee's it from now on any future game im just gonna expect it to be delayed for another year even after Exclusives like what bethesda has done with dawnguard....

Switch places with Bethesda and Microsoft. Microsoft is obviously pulling the strings here.

Its sad Microsoft needs to result to bribery to keep Xbox alive.Strange it did not occured to them that they maybe need to create new platform.I realy feel sorry for them, they all look patetic to me now.

It doesn't have to. The "bribery" as you call it ends up making them more money than not. Therefore, Microsoft is incredibly smart by offering Bethesda money because it benefits both parties.

Doesn't change the fact that MS are a bunch of disgusting corporate [censored]s. I predict a "That's how the way it works" response. To which i reply to; Again, just because it works that way doesn't make it okay.

My last post here, since the big points are made.

It's different. Amalur got mediocre reviews, had little hype, and got bad sales partly because of its release timing and partly because of the other two. If they took money from MS they probably would've pulled even less revenue from missing platforms.

Skyrim was slated for success from its announcement. Anything with that amount of hype is going to sell hotcakes on day one for all platforms unless one is known to be an absolutely terrible port well before release along with insulting statements from the publisher (MW2 PC, Dragon Age 2 PC, Crysis 2 PC). Ditto for any Call of Duty game on the consoles. There's a big difference between "securing an investment" and "making more money! (maybe)". In fact, dealing with the devil (console companies) can actually ruin your game AND ruin your bottom line. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/07/microsoft-comes-under-fire-for-five-figure-xbox-360-patch-fee/ So really a deal with the devil is a massive gamble because it not only leaves you at their mercy but might also make you less money.

People should blame Beth not Microsoft. Microsoft are trying to make money by have more on their system then the PS3. Beth on the other hand have betrayed their PC fan base and sold the game, basically to MS.

The silver lining is the DLC is bugged to death and is about vampires, so not getting it was the only option. Yet on principle and the fact some people might want to get it and take advantage of it they should still bring it to PC.
I am surprised steam have not had a public word on this as Skyrim and the steam workshop have made them loads of money. They might have wanted more with some DLC, as that is probably the only way to get it if they release it.

On top of which running a MMORPG incurs a bigger overhead cost on servers. And there was a reason why they could not secure (much of) a loan in the private market, and had to resort to the (Rhode Island) government.

I don't think Bethesda really cares about whether or not they make money off of the community for this DLC on PS3 and PC. If you noticed in Steam, everyday since its release, Skyrim has been on the 'Top 10 Sold Games' list (Interesting enough, it is not on the Top 10 at the moment. I wounder if it is related?). As long as they have Microsoft happy, they couldn't give a s**t...

I have lost so much respect for Bethesda, I wasn't super excited for this DLC to begin with (part of the fact that I would get it a month later), the main thing is that they are treating us like 2nd rate customers. Bad business practice.
As people are saying, "I will find other games to occupy me", same here, I will never buy this DLC, there are other games...

1) I don't see Bethesda getting poor any soon. See the Morrowind (a game that still makes money for them), Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout sales numbers.

2) If 38 Studios went to bankrupcy despite releasing (or better said, only having released) Kingdoms of Amalur, something really bad must have been done.

And anyways, it's just no excuse not to have ready the DLC just after the exclusivity period. There just isn't any.

Have to agree with other people here, I couldn't care less about when DG is released, what I want is to be spoken to and treated as if I spent the same amount of money that any Xbox owner did for their copy of skyrim. As it stands, intentional or not, it seems like they don't care about their PS3 or PC fanbase.

i think they will release it some time this quarter. Quarter three is July to September. But anyone will not know exactly a release date but sure it will be sometime soon after the release of patch 1.7.

The funny thing is, Dark Souls prepare to die edition is coming out on PC at the end of August, better move fast Bethesda....

Dawnguard gives you about 10 hours of play time for 20 dollars, Dark Souls PTD, more than 100 hours for 40 dollars, which one do you think I will be buying?

Well in a months time Guild Wars 2 is out, as well as other games mentioned above, and if they do not want support the PC then PC players will buy other games.

It is no loss that Dawnguard is not coming to PC, it is that they lied/mislead us and try to cover it up. Why don't they come clean and say it is very buggy and we want to wait until it is fixed and patched?

ArenaNet treat costumers better then Beth, so in a month ill be play Guild Wars 2 instead of the abandoned PC version of Skyrim.
