PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 16

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:47 am

Your right, PC players should be left out on all the official content from now on, i mean, they can make their own stuff and all..... seriously, i hate that argument, some people actually enjoys a high quality bethesda made DLC over a "five new armors mod"
Hm. I don't recall saying PC gamers should be left out. I said they should complain a bit less because they have loads more content through mods than 360 gamers have even with Dawnguard...

Bethesda in my opinion you should have never agreed to the XBOX exclusivity contract. Really could turn out to be very bad for you!

i highly doubt it, it would be bad business to make people wait so long and they could lose customers but even if they decided not to release DG for any other platforms it wouldnt turn out bad for them. no one knows how much microsoft payed them, but they did exactly the same with rockstar and GTA 4, they payed them $50 million just for the first 2 DLC's being 30 day exclusive to xbox. if thats anything to go by, then microsoft must have payed them alot

i don't think anyone have any reason to complain less, but thats my opinion, i'll try not to argue too much, rough will just lock the thread again

PS3 players have nothing to keep them self busy if they finishes skyrim like a million times alrdy what can they do, finish it another million times? Then the game DOES get boring, i so now and then just collect stuf make wicked sets with good enchantments and such, and so now and then [censored] a few draugr or bandits or dragons... Or i go play fifa until DG releases

Keep in mind; PS3 players do get a very good amount of exclusives to play around with.

We're even, in that regard.

I hope everyone can be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, you have to express them in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts :nono:

Then maybe Bethesda should start by giving the example and stop treating the customers like idiots. I'd like to see your boss acting like that during a shareholders meeting and see how well it goes.

I'd just like to point out:
Xbox = Dawnguard
PC = Thousands of mods worth about 50 Dawnguards

I really don't see why PC gamers complain when they have tonnes of FREE content.
PS3 gamers have every right to whine though.

Well, by your logic, PC has unofficial patches, so official patches are not needed for PC; and PC users have no right to complain about game bugs...

what does bethesda treating the customers badly have to do with following the forum rules?

That is absolutely ridiculous, whether or not pc users have access to other content is irrelevant to the company. Pc users are paying customers just like console users, and treating one set of customers differently than another is just bad buisness, yes that bad buisness can defrayed by the exclusivity contract but in the end bethesda is here to make money, and ignoring one source of income for another is just not going to happen.

In my opinion the 30 day period is fine, but bethesda really needs to make some sort of statement about dawnguard, not just a we have no news yet, even a simple yes we are releasing it eventually, we are working on "blah" would be great, it would appease customers enough to stop potential sales losses.

It wouldn't suprise me if bethesda was in talks to try and extend the exclusivity period for more money from microsoft, which would get them to keep silent about any other release plans til the talks have finished, this is america greed and profit at all costs are the true american way.

Er, I hope that first paragraph was agreeing with the guy you quoted? If not, you may want to re-read it a little more carefully :D

Thousands of mods worth 50 Dawnguards each? Lolwut? As far as the eye can see it's nothing but retextures, armor mash ups, and player house mods either so overwhelming and well stocked you might as well never leave them, or so muted and pointless you may as well not bother. The only quest mods that do show up at this point tend to be done entirely by notes and have about as much depth as "You found a letter asking you to kill a bro" followed by "grats on killin' a bro, bro, here's your castle."

Oh, don't forget the "Play as a latex covered fetish Barbie doll!" mods and the "sixy as hell, overpowered as superhell hot chick companion mod", that one is popular too. Or just good ol' fashioned gratuitous nudity.

WHERE do people keep getting this idea that the Workshop is crawling with huge, sprawling quest mods? Unless "Hey look, easy loot" encapsulates Dawnguard entirely, then sure.

I'd give mods back in a heartbeat if it meant not hearing this argument anymore. The only non-bugfix ones I have to my name is one that adds a small 10 shelf library to Breezehome.

Most of the cool quest mods for Bethesda games past Morrowind didn't come out until long, long after every DLC and patch were released, and official support for the game was over. The only game I can think of that got the "star treatment" that Morrowind once had was New Vegas.

They should release it soon because im beginning to lose intrest in dawnguard or better sad im losing intrest with skyrim completely.
i started a new character a week after the release and im now almost level 81 and done almost evry side mission and its starting to get boring.
wait another week with the PS3 release and i wont be one of the people to buy it because i will have lost all intrest in skyrim and anything that has something to do with it.
there is then stil a little chance i will buy it when its for free in the PS+ section of the PSstore in a year or so when i start playing skyrim again for like a week.

i also will let BETHESDA know this will be the last game i buyed from you. because this things i dont need from a game.
games are for fun and this kind of, well lets call it discrimination, i do not enjoy and it ruining my fun.
that you let yourselfs be bribed by microsoft is up to you but PUT IT ON THE BOX next time so i know dont want to buy the game.

As I am a PC Gamer, that is the point of view I wish to give. That being said, the way Bethesda is treating their fans is horrible. I mean this company obviously doesn't care one iota for the PC gaming community. If they did, the would do things like at the very least give a modding kit to the PC community... oh wait, they did that. Well... uh.... they should giveout free DLC to their loyal PC fans. I mean they've never done that before and likely never will.... oh yeah, they gave us a free DLC for Oblivion and if I'm not misataken, there were a couple on Morrowind as well. Well then surely they should stop nickel and diming us to death when they release things like more kill cams and mounted combat... oh wait, those were free.

Now while I can't speak for the PS3 users and find what they are going through to be more than unpleasant(I'm sure that's a bit of an understatement), hey PC gamers, maybe you should stop nitpicking the crap out of Bethesda over a release date for a piece of DLC. Okay, I get it, you're impatient, but really, this is going to far. I'm sure a lot of what Beth has to be seeing is how ungrateful you're all being over something as inane as this. The Elder Scrolls games, and Bethesda themselves have treated the PC gaming community better than most of the companies out there. But it seems that as gamers, you aren't happy unless you're complaining about something and threatenting to boycott a company uinless you get your own way. But hey, don't stop doing this on my account. Maybe they will listen to all of you, and seeing how ungreatful you are for the things they have done, decide to start treating us all the way companies like Activison, EA and Capcom do.

So why not exercise a little patience. It's just a video game for god's sake and not the end of the world. Stop flinging poo like a bunch of rabid howler monkeys because you have to wait a little longer because you have some inflated sense of entitlement.

And before this gets deleted or I get banned for my remarks, I just want to say that I am hoping some of the members here will see my point of view and relaize that Bethesda does not deserve the scorn you seem to be so eager to dish out.

Rarity's List of things she wishes people would stop saying in no particular order:
  • "Be patient! It's just a video game!"
  • "Go outside and do something more productive!"
  • "More/Better games are coming out. Buy them".
  • "Quit complaining, it doesn't help anyone"
  • "You should've bought an Xbox if you wanted to play."
  • "They are ironing out bugs. They'll release it when they do."
  • "X Said Y, So I know what's really going on."
  • "PS3 users really got screwed over more than anyone."
  • "Dawnguard is not that good anyway."
  • "It's only 10 hours long!!111111111111111111111111111111∞"
  • "I've played it and I can attest that it is a buggy mess not worth playing anyway."
  • "Blah blah, here's stuff I don't want to hear people say anymore."

Speaking of which, if Bethesda doesn't make an official port of Dawnguard to PC, somebody will eventually find a way to make an unofficial port of Dawnguard instead. And if that person decides to make it free, then Bethesda's going to run into a lot of trouble if they decide to port it themselves.

Hey, there are some fairly decent atmospheric mods out too (e.g. Sounds of Skyrim, though it currently is suffering from a nasty bug) but agreed, no quest mods yet. That stuff always takes years, and usually takes longer each time the game improves graphically (building a room in Morrowind can be done so much faster than in Skyrim, for example.)

:ermm: I can promise you Bethesda saying "We release it eventually" will only lead to people demanding and exact date then getting angry when Bethesda does not give leading to more threads like this one.

Nexus is just as bad, and usually has cross-posted with the Workshop. Nexus frequently gets me in trouble, too, because of how often the hot files ends up looking like a scrolling fetish porm site.

Hot Files of the moment - Three armor mash ups, one hot chick companion pack, one menu image replacer, one alternate ambiance pack.

Saint's alive, someone fan me, I'm having a case of the vapors over how much better than Dawnguard these are!

People will always find a reason to get angry and self righteous, my point is that with a promise that it will indeed be released, those of us that that are considering quitting the series entirely to save ourselves the frustration would be much more likely to hang around if we knew we weren't going to be treated so poorly.

How do we even know that the DLC it mentions is Dawnguard? It could be Horse Armor 2.0 for all we know.

Compared to Final Fantasy fans we are getting treated quite well, FF fans have been waiting 6 years for FFversus13 and still do not have a release date for it.....
