PCPS3 Release Date Thread part 19

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 8:37 am

I really don't understand why only one person seems to have reacted to this post I made about 1 1/2 hours ago. I thought it was what this topic was all about, but nobody seems interested.

they want to wallow in their misery for not having soon enough :)

According to gamehos.com, a grey market game site, Dawnguard will be released on the 17th of August. They have it listed at $27 but I don't think it'll be that high. I don't have permission to post links but I mentioned the site and you can easily find the info on your own.

They are probably about as reliable as any other retailers guess about a game with no official release date.

Hey guys! Well, the info just keeps pouring in: I might have just heard a rumor from a possibly credible source that dawnguard may or may not becoming out on PC and PS3 at an unknown future date!

Can you believe it?!

Discuss this immediately! And tell everyone you know!

 How many times do I need to say this? It would not make sense for the DLC NOT to come out for the other platforms because it makes the 30 day exclusivity that the Xbox got pointless, therefore Bethesda screwed Microsoft! That is not the case.

I am confident that it WILL come out for PC. There is multiple pieces of solid evidence implying it will, and none saying it wont.

Well then. Its not that easy to perceive sarcasm over text.

No it is just irritating that not just you, but several people believe this, when it makes no sense at all.

Well, I certainly agree that dawnguard will almost surely come out on PC and PS3. I was merely attempting to make light of this 19-part thread, which has progressed at a comically fervent pace, given our complete lack of information...

Oh, and also many of the posters are really, really angry (again...comical).

Indeed it is comical, but annoying that people can think such an asinine thing. And your avatar is making me thirsty.

Speculation on release is what I want to hear, we all know according to PH we should get info later this week. That info is very doutfully going to just be a announcement, it should be a announcement... W/ a release date. This is my last bit of faith in Bethesda/Zenimax on this one, I don't want to hear the following,

"We are planning a Dawnguard release on PC/PS3, we appreacite everyones patients, patch 1.7 will arrive on PS3 in blah blah blah" with no DG release date for PC.

^ That is a very probable not too far off statement

What we want to hear is this,

"We are announcing Dawnguard for the PC/PS3 following patch 1.7 for PS3, Dawnguard will release on day X or will follow patch 1.7 with a release around week X"

^ That is what we want to hear

i think the patch are for beth to get it ready for the port in for dawnguard that seems logical and for it to be actually playable. i say this because remember when DG came for 360 it was very laggy hence y im thinking thats the reason why its taking so long to come out their prob trying to make it playable for a same day release for both pc and ps3

What everyone is saying on this long forum is very sound opinion on most of you but... lets look at it on their perspective. They are trying their best to solve the situation on patching it to the ps3 and pc. Yes yes it might be a little easier because of the fact they patch it to 360 so pc should have had it by now i get that. But what if their was a problem with the patching codes for pc and ps3 and they don't know how long it will take. Maybe thats why were getting the sorry for inconvience but will have it out soon as possible remarks. Its understandable the consumers are thinking well we have the right to know because were buying this dlc from you. On that note i agree (BUT) Maybe just maybe their tired of the monkeys jumping on their backs about having it out by now and if they where to let it known that something is also wrong they will never hear the end of it. Sorry to pull out the monkey word its just for you to feel their understanding. im not choosing sides or anything just that their are probably doing their best and a little support wouldn't help right???

Its amazing how ignorant some people are with computers and programming in general. I get sick and tired of hearing a few people saying that Dawnguard needs to be ported over to the PC, and this is absolute rubbish.

Seriously what do you think they made dawnguard with? A PC or an Xbox? Or has Microsoft somehow developed a developers console that companies can program games with.... No..

They made the game with a PC, and from this they port the working copy they have on the PC over to x-box or Playstation.

So Bethesda already has a working copy of Dawnguard for the pc.

The delay for the release of Dawnguard doesnt have anything to do with porting over to the PC, nor based on Bethesda's track record I doubt that it has to deal with fixing bugs.

More than likely it has to deal with legal crap and planning distribution and marketing etc...

The 360 and PC versions are identical with the exception of the .dds files being .ddx files on the 360 and the .nifs being slightly different. Manually converting the .ddx to .dds would take ages for the public since there are so many, but bethesda obviously has the software to convert in batches since they created the file format. You can already take the 360 DLC file and load it up on the PC, but it'll crash when it tries to access the .ddx files.
All Skyrim's content was created on PC first, THEN ported over to console, so the conversion process is a mood point as they need only return to their original files.

The game wouldnt crash if you tried to load it up on PC, as the PC version doesnt even understand what a ddx file is, so it wouldn't, not couldnt even load the file to begin with.

I can do that.

1. Prep-work: In order to release a DLC you have to do prep-work, you have to line up server space allocations, talk with your distributors and create advertising. This work may have not been legally possible under the terms of the exclusivity contract with Microsoft, so may only have just begun.

2. 1.7: While Dawnguard may seem good to go because it "seems fine on the Xbox", it very probably isn't, there is most definitely numerous undocumented Dawnguard related fixes in 1.7. We also have to remember that without 1.7 Dawnguard WILL NOT work on PS3, and if Bethesda has their hearts set on a PC + PS3 co-release (would save them some money) then that will be an issue too.

3. Certification: Also expect Sony to want to certify both Dawnguard and 1.7, this will cause delays too (unless the underlined of 2 isn't true, then it is just 1 that is important).

We are only in the first real week, and we've been told that information is coming this week.

Here's a tip: "sarcasm" doesn't translate well on the internet, and frequently sounds more clever in your head than it is. If you have nothing really to add but snarky off-topic remarks to this thread, toddle off to another thread instead.

back to your regularly scheduled speculation.

i have stayed clear of the forums for a while, its mostly moaning and i dont care for that.

when the game went from beta to live on 360 alot of the things beta testers reported were not fixed, in fact i dont think a single thing changed, my asumption?

-DG was launched on 360 with no fixes.

-Patch 1.7 will fix alot of the problems with DG, and is still being worked on.

-PC and PS3 version of DG will launch with patch 1.7, so less bugs then 360 had.

so i think once the patch is done it will be released. I also think that for once the idea of "they get the bugs so ours will be smoother" is actaully true.

be patient, stop yelling, calm down. -Law
