Possible Werewolf patch (for the near future)

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:21 pm

Yeah I figured out the feeding thing after awhile and it ended up being kind of a hassle lol, I wasn't a fan of having to kill and feed on 30 people just to have a decent amount of time as a werewolf, which is something I don't understand because npc's can be a werewolf for as long as they want which leads me to believe they massacred and fed on the entire population of cyrodil. When compared to bloodmoon and your entire night of being a werewolf the experience kinda pales in comparison :sadvaultboy: I just think it could have been handled better, same goes for vampirism.

Well that's why I'm trying to get this patch idea to Bethesda ^_^ so we can get an improved Werewolf, but still keeping it balanced and keeping it fair so it's not Overpowered though right now it can be considered under powered

Well the only NPC we really see last as a Werewolf for a long time is Sinding, other than that Farkas is only it for a moment and Aela is it only a bit. What Im guessing about the 2 and a half minutes thing is because of the fact the transformation is at will and can be done when ever we want, mix that with the ring of hircine you've technically got unlimited time as werewolf, but our main problem with it, other than strength and durability (and FPS sight) is the fact we can only feed on playable races if we could feed on anything that had flesh so falmer and wild life, being a Werewolf I'm sure would feel better.

The ultimate expansion in my opinion would be a visit to the Hunting Grounds, adding the ability to become a werebear. And also, Beth needs to add first person perspective to a lot of features incl. beast form.

Im wanting them to do what the patch was built for, to patch our beloved Werewolf and make it a real beast

Mods will fix this.

Wow, I'm impressed. It only took you four words to invalidate your opinion.

Im really getting annoyed of people saying that you know, I stated in my first comment, that I used a PS3 and that I'm speaking generally to the Console audience, not that PC gamers cannot help, I mean any support so this thread will be seen by Moderators or bethesda staff or anyone who can put in a word, then more the merrier really, I know for PC gamers having a problem like the Werewolf one we have they can just make it go away with a simple mod, hell they can alter the entire world of the game with a mod, but obviously we Console players are left to Bethesda's mercy, Im sorry for venting on you, but you seem to understand... sorry again

I do understand. I'm not addressing all PC gamers here, but a lot of them have been waltzing around this board nonchalantly casting off the glitch complaints with "Mods will fix this." I have both the Xbox 360 version and the PC version, so I think I have room to talk. I think PC gamers should be more compassionate towards our console brethren.

I do have the PC version, but when I play it I usually end up playing it with an Xbox 360 controller, so I just end up playing the Xbox version and talking to friends. But the console audience makes up over 60% of all the Skyrim sales, we can't be ignored. I'm objective here, owning the game on multiple systems, but I think the PC users need to step off the high horse.

Honestly, it's come to a point in our society that I'd be afraid to tell people I'm playing it on the PC...

EDIT: I just hit Disciple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

warewolf is powerful enough, the vampire is the underpowered one, it is just a hassle

This. Being a vampire is worthless for anything other than roleplaying purposes, and even at that, you have to roleplay what is essentially an albino, sense the vampire perks are worthless.

Thank you for understanding, I wouldn't say anything negative to anyone about their playing preference, to each their own as far as I'm concerned. It's just what upsets me, is that, comming back to this Werewolf patch I'm hoping for, I have to hope and pray that Bethesda see this and actually do it, while if someone who felt the same had the PC version they could just do what ever needed doing and have it fixed to how some people on this thread would want it, and they'd be merrily on their way.

It just feels like more heartache for me, I know, I know I shouldn't take this to heart but I'm passionate about it, maybe too much.

And Congratulations on hitting Disciple, I'd give you a cigar but not possible heh ^_^

Maybe we should take it to heart. If we get enough console Skyrimmers to complain about the sickening underpoweredness of werewolves, maybe they will do something about it. That's even assuming that Beth reads this board.

That's why I set up this thread, so those who feel what I do have a place to come to and express their thought and let out their opinions about how it could change, I mean if you read through the thread there have been great ideas some ideas I hadnt thought of, all I wanted was the Werewolf to be connected to the level and be powerful and durable even at higher levels so my sword would be weaker than my claws, but these people, Lunar Transformations, 1st person view, like in Morrowind, more choices of feeding, one guy even suggested a Werewolf perk tree. Brilliant ideas which I believe have merit to them.

I just hope someone more powerful than us mere players notice us, and actually think it's worth doing. I just hope they do

I'm on PS3 too, as for the roar when fought enemies in Werewolf form with my previous character (who was at about 58) the roar didn't effect many enemies anymore, and would eventually be killed by the numbers and the damage they dealt. While in Nord form I could take fare of them without much fuss

The werewolf was a fun novelty that was really meant to be part of faction content rather than a class-changer imo. It was an I-Win button at lower levels, then the power and novelty wore out after a while. Great fun while it lasted, and part of a fun storyline. I wouldn't want it to go beyond that, but that's just me.

Vampires do seem to need more content/purpose associated with them, and a better hassle:fun ratio.

That's understandable and I respect that, but if it was just that, maybe they should have made us get rid of it, otherwise is we can keep it I'd have wanted it to improve with me, and I do want it too improve. If you have it, it might aswell be effective.

I do have a question what is with people doing a "This." ? that's my only question.

And as for your comment, I do agree what what i've heard the Vampire and the Werewolf crowd seem to be split some think they're useful if done right, but I believe it's not a case of them being "done right" they should be fun and useless no matter HOW you play them. So I agree The Vampire may also need patching to make it feel tougher and more powerful with magics or what not, while as this thread was designed for, to make the Werewolf more powerful and to patch a few things about it.

Am I right in thinking that Werewolf improvements are governed by Light Armour and One Handed skills?

Right now yes, but only the skill level not actually any of the perks, from what I've read, but in truth the increase in skill doesn't make too much difference sadly. And is pointless if some a Mage who has lycanthropy.

Which is why I'm asking for this patch to not only remove it's link to those 2 perks and set it at our individual levels, but to also make it more powerful and allow it to level up better with us, so even if we're at level 80 or whatever the Werewolf still feel like a power beast who does more damage than our sword and can still take alot of damage without being killed. So it's fun for everyone and all class types.

Didn't read every post in this thread but my 2 cents on werewolves... I was surprised to find them so weak as well, but let me tell you that their howl of terror is the key here... It's spammable, so it's very easy to keep opponents off you. The radius is surprisingly large too, and if any ranged opponents happen to be too far away you can easily sprint power attack them to their doom... After a little playing around with werewolves I've found them very viable, even in this vanilla state

The thing I find frustrating about playing as a Werewolf is that you don't get energy back from inaction, and can only gain it through feasting on humanoid flesh. In wolf form I kicked the [censored] out of an Elder Dragon the other day. I only had the thinnest notch of energy left at the end, but I killed it.

No humans around though. So three minutes later got taken down, from the side, by a sodding Bear after my follower engaged it.

Humilliating...

Some kind of heavily readuced and very gradual regeneration for Werewoves would come in damn handy.

It may perhaps be something for modders in the future, to add perk trees to both werewolves and vampires. I know I would use it for sure. :)
