Ps3 Lag

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:10 am

That might be it then, the newer consoles won't lag as much. For all the 360 people imagine a older 360 trying to run newer games I guess... Not enough hardware to play it properly. He probably also has alot of games installed on the thing so I think we are all good. If you have an older PS3 then you might experience some lag, if you do then try cleaning it up some.
Wtf, all consoles have same hardware (duh!) and it does not matter what version of PS 3 u got...

Well, for PS3 owners still worried this video might make you feel better. It's not in relation to FPS, but still nice.
On that note, I'd love to give my congratulations and praise to Bethesda's PS3 development team. It looks like they did a nice job of utilizing its capabilities. However, the decisions of those on the PR team which led to absolutely no official promotion or revealing of the PS3 version throughout the entire marketing campaign, on the other hand...

just waiting for mine to come to my house :P

a question to people have it though, and are using an sd tv (yes we still exist :P).

how's the font size? is it readable? fallout 3 was fine but other games like DC Online which i tried due to it being free now are a pain to try and read whatever is on the screen, it's plain unreadable. i hope the font size is more or less the same as Bethesda's previous games.

Yeah Nightcobra, I know that feel.

But luckily we have a HD tv downstairs I use whenever my dad isn't here, and he won't be here on Saturday :D

But I actually preferred playing Fallout New Vegas on the SD tv.

I've been playing DCUO since it came out and i also know where your coming from since i just bought my first HDTV last year. If you go into the option settings in DCUO you can change the font size. Give that a try then see how you like the game.

it only changed the chat font, the rest stayed the same. funnily enough without even reading anything i can still carry a party through a dungeon no problem XD

anyway, i really hope they're the same size as fallout 3's.

Yeah, i still want to see other guys opinions :).
Well here is my opinion, you are intentionally starting a bunch of [censored] to get a rise out of people. Every video I have seen concerning the ps3 has not only run smooth as silk, but has looked better then the xbox footage we have seen. Not to mention most of the first hand account I have heard about the ps3 version have said they did not experience slowdown. Also if that wasn't enough your video is sub hd looked like it was laggy as hell, and is the only bad footage I have seen of the ps3.

Edit

Some non crap footage

My 160 gig slim runs the game fine, framerate is fine, graphics are awesome. Don't panic, this game kicks ass and the ps3 (well mine anyway) can handle this game with no probs.

Given recent experience with recent Bethesda produced/published games I think PS3 owners are right to be a bit wary of how the PS3 version will hold up. But the only way to be "safe" is to just hold off on buying the game for a few weeks. Let the game get out in the wild for a while and see what the reported problems are and then make an informed decision on whether you want to buy the game or not.

There's just too few copies out there right now to properly gauge how widespread any given problem may be. Take a deep breath and relax. Don't worry, the game will still be available in a month.

The new generation can't come soon enough.

Depends on backward compatibility ... still have not gotten over the frustration that my PS2 games did not work on PS3 ...

Backwards compatibility didn't do the ps3 any favor with it's price tag as evidence by this video.

I wouldn't call 5 year old hardware a "beast". I've watched my bro play plenty of games on his ps3 before and it's always those big openworld games that just lag like hell. He was playing borderlands and I remember when those rolling ant monsters started poping out of the ground (and they do it very often) the frame rate would drop below 15 and stay there for a solid 30 seconds or until he killed them.

The ps3 is just difficult to program for and optimize unless that's the only system you are designing a game for.

And it's pretty obvious in a game like Skyirm where most of the game isn't scripted you might end up with way more NPCs and monsters around you than intended which = bad performance.

I actually upgraded my phat 60 this summer to a 500gb drive just so i could download Boarderlands. I had no lag with that game what so ever.. that was a dam good game....

Also there was a post from a Sten The Ugly who got the game yesterday and played it all day. he never mentioned having issues with lag. I pm him asking if he had a slim or a phat and he said he had an original. he did not say what size hard drive he had.

If your having trouble with lag try installing the optional 3.73 firmware update.
It would be intresting to know what version of the FW the patch was compiled on.

Played for about 6 hours straight last night. For the first 4, the game ran beautifully. I don't know what happened after that. Major cities, battles (especially dragon), and horse rides started stuttering all over the place. Im playing on a 320GGB model (slim) bought earlier this year. I've never had any other problems with any of my other games. It felt pretty warm (not hot) but I think that's pretty normal.
