PS3 Release for Dawnguard, DLC etc... #35

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:45 pm

At this late (and getting later) stage of the game (pardon the pun) I'm inclined to wait for the GOTY anyway - if DG and DB DLC is £16 a pop plus £5 for HF then that's £37 - GOTY is only likely to be £40 new out the box.

Colour me cynical but I expect we'll only see all PS3 add-ons available with the GOTY anyway, if at all - I've played this game with Bethesda before

Vamp I told you I won't call you that...

Regardless of the content itself, I say thank you for the communication.

That's the bigger issue than the actual content.

Perhaps for you, but as others have stated, Bethesda has really only now told us that "something" is coming. Thats about it. Why they are intentionally remaining vague, is known only by them. Perhpas they saw the pressure mounting within the PS3 "powderkeg" (consumers) and opened a check valve a tiny bit to relieve the pressure. I'm surprised some people are already rushing to thank them, when NOTHING has been delivered yet. Thank them when you receive something that is satisfactory. Bethesda is manipulating us...

I'm much more interested in content that makes my game run well. I want to be able to actually have a character that can do most of the quests and explore the whole game world, then move into DLC without issue. The FRAME LAG issue has to be truly repaired, I'm done with strobo-vision, and certainly won't enjoy new content if that isn't fixed. I'm guessing a few of you guys just want something new though, and could care less if its a slag fest, with glitch syrup on top and fresh bugs for the garnish.

It sounds like great news but this statement has me a bit worried.

"We're not getting into the specifics of what content is being released right now, but we are working on bringing content to PS3 and PC. It'll be content that's not already on those platforms."

This could mean a lot of things.
1. It could mean that PS3 gets Dawnguard and nothing else yet, and PC gets Dragonborn.
2. Could also mean that both will get Dragonborn but PS3 still won't get Dawnguard and Hearthfire.
3. Could also mean that both get Dragonborn and PS3 get both Dawnguard and Hearthfire too.
4. Could also be a whole new small dlc that Xbox doesn't have.

I am not overly enthusiastic about it yet but at least it is a step in the right direction. Though "being close" is still a bit vague, in fact it is much like the "coming soon" statement that the gaming industry likes so much and that I have had span from as little as a month to around half a year if not more.

Guess we will see what happens but at least I am getting a little more positive about the whole thing.

Exactly what I was thinking. I want it all. Call me selfish, but I shouldn't have to sacrifice as a customer, because they can't do it. I want every expansion.

Obviously, they aren't going to tell people this is exactly what you're getting until it's vetted. That was their problem from the start, creating expectations for the PS3 and then delivering a buggy game. Being cautious but open about it for now is exactly what I would expect. It doesn't look like they are simply trying to throw horse armor out there, which they could, and you would have your DLC.

Good detective work there VampRageous. That is very damning and is also likely worthy of its own thread.

Its good their being cautious if even people don't like it or feel their getting cheated again. I hope Bethesda is really trying to fix their mistakes but only time will tell.

I rember somewhere that some bethesda official said once that hourse armor was extremly popular and often bought.
What I am saying I woudn't throw away idea that this new content is space core... of course with a proper pricetag for porting it to ps3
Also I didn't play portal 2 so I don't know any memes ... whithout this post feels naked

There's also this - from the same manual version:

http://twitter.com/DawnguardPS3/status/266587065171443715/photo/1

Under "Please Note" - "The information in this manual was correct as of the time of printing. However, changes may have occurred late in the product's development."

Can anyone confirm whether this is in the "standard" (DLC in menu) manuals?

If it's not, that's a strong indicator that DLC was to be more than just a "timed" exclusive (PC manuals do not mention DLC, either).

@ Azrim - can you do us a HUGE favor and check to see if your XBox manual lists the DLC menu item? It would be interesting to see if the XBox was the only platform with this initially listed.

Thank you!

It is not in that version, looking at mine right now. It is numbered page 2 in my manual and there is no 'Please Note' sub-section. In fact there is no 'Setting Up' area at all under 'Getting Started'.

This just gets stranger and stranger.

HOPEFULLY it all gets resolved when this mysterious "new" "add on" "non-title update" gets released for PS3... but I'm not holding my breath.

Again, I'll try to play the medium voice in this.

Bethesda did just communicate something. That is pretty big in itself since they've communicated nothing for the past 3 months (just repeated their message once, maybe twice). That is a good sign, however they are being vague but they aren't just been vague with PS3 content, they're doing it to PC as well. You can take that a multitude of ways and I won't get into that. The point is that this stuff is guaranteed to be coming soon, while 1.8 isn't at all yet for the platforms. With these 2 things in mind, we can only assume that they are independant of each other so it might be possible to get another patch for DLC before 1.8 even comes out. So either PC and PS3 are going to get something that won't immediately be available to XBox or they're putting another patch out there to get the DG and HF content out to PS3 while fixing the others.

Or they're just talking about Dragonborn and we still have to play the waiting game.

I'm mildly optimisic about it and that won't increase until more details are given. So I've extended that deadline of 11/11/12 for myself for content, to now 11/11/12 for those details.

If they release Dragonborn for PS3 and not Dawnguard or Hearthfire, I won't buy it. If they release Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, I'll consider buying them.

This, but I won't buy Dawnguard or Hearhfire if they still ask full price. I'll pay full price for Dragonborn (if we get it) since it'd be brand new, but after all the BS we've gone through over the first 2, I won't pay full.

They are still full priced on the other platforms. To ask for a discount when they don't get one is not fair to them. Now if they experience a pricedrop and PSN has full price listed, I wouldn't pay for it then. Whatever the price is on one platform should be the price for all.
