PS3 Release for Dawnguard, DLC etc... #35

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 12:52 pm

I would hardly say that the games are totally unplayble as I've played Skyrim, Oblivion, FallOut 3 and New Vegas several times on all the platforms they are aviable on. They do have bugs that would fustrate many and I'm sure that DG, HF, and DB will be buggy too. But they will be playable if and when they come out for PS3...

Don't forget that this content may not actually be Dawnguard, Hearthfire or Dragonborn. It's unspecified "add-on content" and could be anything. The only thing we know for sure is that it's "new" for the PS3 and PC and for it to be new to those platforms does not mean that it must already be available on the Xbox.

I've said before though that just because they lump PS3 and PC into the same sentence doesn't mean PS3 and PC will recieve the same thing. Personally I'm expecting some sort of PS3 consolation prize not full DLC.

That's what gets me when they say "ADD-ON CONTENT", I expect a get-out clause to pop it's head up at a later date...

If they mean proper DLC I wish they'd just come out and say so!

Yet some are optimistic and others pessimistic each for their own reasons and each free to express that as long as they are within the rules of the forum. One thing is for sure, one may irritate us with their optimistic outlook when we are not in the mood, but many optimistic see the pessimistic ones as kill joys. Thus we must learn to be tolerate and kind and just let each other roll the way they roll.

Let each other be.

I absolutely know where you're coming from. I have not been a bethesda gamer since Oblivion...and that was in June 2011! I understand you guys have been screwed over and over....but i also think change is coming. And i look forward to seeing you all getting what you deserve (myself included)

I've been playing their games since Oblivion, but have been into them since Morrowind but was sad it wasn't available on Playstation.

Just hoping we get something more than the vague update by the birthday. The 13th I'm going to give in and buy a nefarious product from Activision...from what I heard, their last one was pretty good.

First Elder scroll I played was morrowind, didn't get into lore and stuff untill I played oblivion on my friends 360.

I'm picking up my sisters copy on the 13th. since she only 15 and I preordered it for her XD

Agree.

I know some will be happy with making arrows and Dragonbone Weps but for me personally it's either full DLC or nothing. Sadly when people who are picked to do beta test they can't say publicy that they are doing one, as it might have told us what to expect. So we'll just have to wait for Beth to release a statement.

I really hope you're wrong. I can definitely understand everyones skepticism, but I find it hard to believe even Bethesda would intentionally tease and drum up interest with GStaff's comments and the @BGS_devs tweets about this content and fail to deliver something worthwhile.

I think if it was a 'consolation' prize it would definitely be lower key and probably not teased about. I could be wrong, but the BGS_devs tweet makes me the most optimistic.

At this point if it does turn out to be just some horse armor, dragon weapons and a barber you should grab some cold beers, good mustard and some nice bratwurst; for the flames spilling from the internet will be the stuff of legend.

Totally with you, and besides, if that was all they give us, it'd go against Hines' original statement of "All or nothing". Have they finally decided to change their stance, but far too late to be any good?

Not sure who said it, but patch 1.8 is the first step. Once that is release, we can all start talking about when, and what, will be released. I agree with Nelomet that a change in "all or nothing" approach would be taken in a negative light. However, I also understand that Bethesda is trying to release something. If it is simply the ability to create some items (Weapons/Arrows/Armor) that were released in the DLC's, I would hope that they do the smart thing and just give it to PS3 users as a free token of appreciation.

You lucked out.

There are people with DLC on new vegas that literally dropped frame rate to .0005 frames a second.

Skyrim for me when on PS3 crashed roughly every 15 - 30 minutes. I don't know the current condition of the game now, seeing how I sold it, but I know people are having difficulties with

bad lag and crashing, which seem to primarily be caused by the size of the save for whatever reason.

I traded I think a month ago, and I think it got me 25 bucks, but there was a promotion on trade ins at the time.

Maybe it was 2 months ago though, so yeah who knows now

Should be alright at medium settings and even on medium it will be a hell of a better than the 360/PS3 versions.. short term fix to improve your gameplay would be to increase your ram to 3 or even better 4GB. Either way, enjoy it.

I hate to say it, but probably not. You're a little short on RAM, and your graphics card might run into trouble on anything above "low" settings. You have a very similar set up to what I did before I built up a new rig.

It will play, but it won't look or play any better than the PS3, and will likely do worse.

I am NOT trying to sound like one of those "PC Master Race" gamers, but if you have the $$ to invest, a few hundred dollars will get you where you need to be. If not, I'd hold off on purchasing Skyrim on PC.

If you do decide to upgrade, make sure your PSU is sufficient. You could probably get by with upgrading just the graphics card and PSU. 2.5 GB RAM might get you by. I have a GeoForce 660Ti card and a 750W Corsair PSU. Together they ran about $400. That's a decent chunk of change, and again, I'm not one of those "wake up and get a PC" people. Playing my PS3 right now. But if you happen to have the $$, go for it. I'm glad I did. Not sure how familiar you are with PCs, but I was 100% new player, and I managed to do it myself just fine.

Just my thought. Hope it helps.

EDIT: If anyone with PC experience disagrees, please point it out. I'm only going on what I went through a while back when I built up my computer.

Best place to see if you can run it is here:

On topic... i can't believe we still sit here. I can't believe that we're at the third dlc and it's looking like maybe it's only coming out for Xbox again (at first). What is this about something coming for PS3 and PC?? I love my TES.. I love my Bethesda.. I loved my Bethesda.. I'm really starting to doubt their methods and drive. Say what you will, a business needs to keep all their customers happy (or at least should). A good restaurant can't give good food to just some customers. But this is the way Bethesda seems to run their business now. This is madness.

I have a PS3.. I have an Xbox ... and I have a PC. I have purchased Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim for Xbox but I now play Skyrim on PC. I don't have any desire to play on Xbox anymore. I shouldn't have to just to get these dlc's. I don't have any intention of buying any more TES games (or FO games) for anything but PC.

Here we sit at thread #35 and the last update is laughable. It goes something like this:

[Posted in August] It's been a few weeks since the last update and wanted to keep you informed blah blah yackety shmackety..

Ummm.. it's November, they know this.. right?

Really disappointed in Bethesda. I suppose it's understandable.. as I type this I look down and at the bottom of this page is the Xbox360 logo, Xbox live logo and then the Bethesda logo afterwards. I guess even they come second to Xbox.

This right here is why I'm not a PC gamer. I really don't have the extra cash, nor the desire to bow to the requirements of spending a few hundred dollars every year or even every other year just so I can play the new game. Yes, I know they look far and away better, not to mention the modding community, but I don't want to have to ask; "Gee, this new game looks awesome! Can my computer run it, or do I need to spend more money to upgrade it before I buy the game?" If I buy a console, I know every game I buy for that console will be able to run....Well, except of course for Bethesda titles...

Only upgrade your PC to play on if you intend to play a lot of other games on it too - if i remember correctly 2gb RAM was the minimum specs given for playing the game, bear in mind background apps will be using some of that before the game even gets a look in.

I had the game in both PS3 and PC format, I have great specs for playing on PC (quad core, 8gb RAM, 2gb Nvidia dedicated graphics etc.) and skyrim looked awesome - the graphics blow the ps3 version out the water even on vanilla, well worth it IF you can afford to upgrade your PC. My issue with it was that you can't use a gamepad only a wired Xbox controller (surprised?) even with motionjoy my controller wouldn't work and I hate the xbox controllers, I find them counter intuitive and the anologue controller positions give me cramp.
