PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #7

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 2:06 am

People need to just keep their cool. The best thing we can do is just wait and see what happens without jumping to conclusions. I'm optimistic that Bethesda will learn from this for Hearthfire or whatever it'll be.
people are only jumping to conclusion because of the lack of information. if they gave us adequate information people are more likely to keep their cool

I'm most likely gonna get the PC version anyway, will extend my playtime and keep me playing due to mods-creation kit, etc
I have the PS3 version currently. PC version sounds way better due to Mods!

Does anyone know of a release date of 1.7 to countries outside of (North America? or is it just the Usa?) Cause logic has it, if you need 1.7 to play DG. And only a certain part of the world has 1.7. DG won't be released till 1.7 gets out to the rest of the ps3 community.

Edit: We should ask Pete when 1.7 comes to the rest of the world >: )

Where does it say you need 1.7 for Dawnguard?

I am still running 1.6 with Dawnguard, no issues. Also, avoids issues implemented by 1.7

You need 1.6 to run Dawnguard, but the PS3 never got 1.6 standalone. Instead, it was rolled into 1.7. That's why the PS3 people need 1.7 to play Dawnguard. Otherwise, you're only up to 1.5 or lower.

Do you use PC? 1.6 is for PS3 players is 1.7. They rolled 1.6 into 1.7 for PS3

Oh I see..

Why didn't PS3 get 1.6 then? Do Sony charge the developers/publishers to release updates?

Something went wrong with the coding, they didn't want to pay for 2 patches. I really don't know what happened. Maybe that's why its taking so long. We are the only ones where 1.7 is 1.6. Maybe that's why it's taking so long.

Hmm, maybe it would have been wiser for Beth to release patch 2.0 with DG, then all the 2.x patches apply to both DG and Skyrim, then bump up to 3.x for hearthfire or whatever is next.

Well, that's how I would have done it to keep things simple and the same across the board regarding platform variations.

Whatever happens though, PS3 is still the worst camp in the Skyrim world. I feel for you guys, you paid the same and got not even close to the same product.

As for the not wanting to pay for 2 patches, if a company screws up to the detriment of its customers, surely they should aim to over-satisfy them to secure their trust for the future. Well, this is Beth.

Not sure really. We just went through 2 months or so of everyone else having the patch, trying to find out what was going on and listening to Gstaff saying "I know you guys want information, but I'm not going to tell you anything today. Bye," whenever he decided to drop by our "What is going on with patch 1.6?" threads, which we had a lot of.

Kinda exactly like what's happening right now.

Sony Europe decides than not Bethesda. Bethesda already released it to Europe expecting it to have been issued out the last week but it seems that it wasn't.

Some people had a perfect game after 1.7 but again, it seems to have broken some people's games further.

I'm assuming Sony Europe wanted to evade the broken games again, probably because of fear of more harm than good.

I didn't follow it at the time, but wasn't Fallout 3's DLC delayed til one year after the actual release for the PS3? I think people would view Bethesda in a more positive light if they admitted the technical issues they've had with the PS3: didn't Todd Howard say at his DICE keynote that you should always admit your mistakes?

Yea a moderator told me that sony europe are more strict with patches. Hate the fact that sony are split into groups so annoying wish it was like 360 all in 1. Despite wanting this 1.7 (europe) i would find it funny if sony europe declined the patch even though sony N.America said yes... its a real weird situation sony has going on lol. I know they are more strict but i wonder whats taking them so long.

At the start i was patient... then i was like ok hurry up patch 1.6.. then DG was coming i was patient... then i heard about 1.6 rolled into 1.7... still patient.. Then everyone barring ps3 got these patches and Dlc... then i was getting ticked off + with the silence topped it off.

Then i looked back at beths track record with ps3... broken/very buggy games.. broken Dlc.... No Dlc.. and now im laughing about if we dont get 1.7 or dlc despite still wanting them..its crazy how this has made me think an act lol

Whats annoying is beth has the potential to be the best their games are amazing but you have to have the right machine /console to enjoy them but i dont want to convert to a 360 just for bethseda despite loving their games or not.

It would be nice 1 day if they stopped the exclusives... stopped the favouritism to 1 console.. treat all fairly.
Give the ps3 a bit more tlc...Give your Ps3 customers/Fans a working game...Give them an on time as everyone else Dlc.

Ive heard the Ps3 is problem-matic hard to code for bla bla...Ok if its more trouble then its worth (hate to say this) stop making for the Ps3. After all this time an you guys still cant get it right then drop it. I feel the ps3 users are getting fed up with half a game... late patches..broken/no dlc. its not really on is it?

Despite my little comment and rant i still love ya games (well potential ) Beth  Get in gear guys

That is exactly why PS3 people are upset and pissed at this point, and impatient.

It's the track record mixed with silence.

It's that hidden fear of a years wait or cancellation

Also befoe anyone says theres other games out there... i know this.. But Beth seems like the only company that actually brings a full new game to the table despite if it is a series of the same game theres always something new and entertaining and they are big games with lastability. I stopped investing in rip off companies like EA... THQ...ACTIVISION/Infinity ward/Teryarch all they do is make the same games every year and just add a date or number next to it... Oh it has new weapons... oh it has new colours bla bla lol.

Alot of gamers who enjoy playing games rely alot on companies like beth because they deliver.. well half deliver on ps3 (sorry). So its pretty annoying lol.

Sorry to go off topic there... i still have faith in you Beth and i look forward to getting DG if/when it comes :)

I like Bethesda for giving legit open world rpg's that you do whatever whenever with bodies able to be looted down to the underwear.

It's not just an RPG but an open world adventure with the worlds own backstory, history, religions, and societies

IMO The best part about their games is the lore. It's absolutely mind-boggling how much interesting history there is in the Elder Scrolls universe that is not even significant to the main story-lines. Beth games are also very easy to be immersed and is a true role playing game. It's really too bad that they are such d-bags to the ps3 players. I would buy their games on PC, but I only really have my laptop and no money to make a huge upgrade anytime soon :(

I transferred to PC, can you run it said my computer was below minimum requirments which I didn't understand because all of the attributes of my graphics card were up to par with minimum, it was just the graphics card brand it didn't like?

With my completely crappy graphics card my computer runs it just fine with just a little exaggeration of the shadows at random times.

You better hope they do not learn from this, since the only way they could avoid taking longer to make the PS3 version of any DLC, is to simply not bother making it! Late is better than not at all.
