PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #7

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:54 pm

Not gonna happen sadly. I am coming to believe that zero work went into Dawnguard for PC until after the 360 30 day period ended, and that a PS3 version wasn't even thought about until the PC version was out. And as Microsoft has 30 day exclusivity for the second Skyrim DLC as well, i see this cycle being played out at least once more.
We need not be so pessimistic. I don't quite see what Microsoft thinks they'll achieve with this exclusive thing; just how gullible does Microsoft think people are?

Not pessimism, Microsoft has already optioned the first 2 DLCs for Skyrim to be Xbox 360 30 day exclusives. This was like the second thing i learned in this whole drawn-out affair when i heard about the first 360 only 30 day period. So its a sad fact-i'm just hoping Bethesda has learned enough to say upfront if/when their will be additional delays.

I'll be honest I don't care about it being delayed or having to pay full price for one reason. If it's being delayed for performance issues it damn well better run good I mean hardly any lag. I don't mind a few quest bugs here and there but the lag needs to be absent.

I personally think they should drop DG (for now) and make sure the next DLC is fully polished, smooth running on the PS3 and released on time. That way, everybody will be much happier and they can release DG at a later date. If they do decide to release DG for the PS3 any time soon (>_>), then I want one of two things. 1) a discount or 2) absolutely no-lag smooth running DLC. Waiting this long for a buggy DLC would be absolutely ridiculous and I think that would warrant a discount (waiting like 2 months and it being full of bugs). If we don't get a discount, it better be polished and I should have no problems with it.

Of course, if Beth hadn't sold out and started favouring one platform over the other, we might not be discussing this right now.

I understand no2 to run smooth thats fair enough but really they dont owe anyone a discount on a delayed dlc... just because microsoft paid for theirs and the pc was ready n up to par and we (ps3) never paid or ours isn't ready or runnig right yet means we should have a discount?

Im as fed up as the next Ps user but asking/demanding/expecting a discount on a dlc that never had a release date i dont believe is right.

Is because of those people that Bethesda's DLC even come to PS3 in the first place, Besides i bet Dawnguard if is even released will be buggy and unplayable like Operation Anchorage

I only want a discount if the thing is going to be riddled with bugs. If it works fine, I'll happily pay full price.

Although I'm not affected as a PC user, I do think Bethesda should offer more clarity when it comes to these things. The wait might have been more durable if they'd said "we're not satisfied with performance on the PS3" before the 30 days were up. Part of the problem might be that Hines wasn't exactly communicating very well with the players, just saying "no update" rather than something like "Sorry guys, no news yet. I promise I'll tell you when I can".

When possible, we'll do what we can to better communicate these things in the future. The 30 day exclusivity announcement was never meant to imply a release date for other platforms -- it was only the exclusivity window.

I know you guys want to have more information to go by, but the post we put up during QuakeCon still pertains now.

Is the latest update still from Aug 2, or has there been new info?

Gstaff - "When possible, we'll do what we can to better communicate these things in the future"

Thanks for the recognition that communication needs to improve! That's at least a step in the right direction!
Although the get out clause "when possible" is also noted

OK i have a theory the Xbox version was announced during e3 and the PC version was announced during QuakeCon so the next big video game convention thing is probably when we are going to have an release/announcement of dawnguard for PS3.

I do hope so Gstaff, Bethesda is better then this. people can say what they well, out of all the gaming companys out there you guys treat the fans the best in my opinion. Thq doesn't even comment or reply to fans on there forums. wwe12 was the first patch thq has ever released for the svr series & it made things worst not better. you guys are working hard to get Dawnguard. weither i agree with some of these business moves or not is another story for another time. but anyway. i hope dawnguard is release soon. i respect you guys for working hard to get dawnguard out to us ps3 users.

You guys have to relize the longer it's delayed, the more and more PS3 players are likely to pass on it, and question if this going to happen with the next dlc when it's annouced.

I am curious by what you said " The 30 day exclusivity announcement was never meant to imply a release date for other platforms -- it was only the exclusivity window."

Does this mean you guys had no intention on releasing it for other platforms when it came out??

I thought he was pretty clear there.

End of exclusivity period =/= Release date on other platforms.

I just hope the current situation clears itself up in a way other than what i envision and the rest of Bethesda takes Gstaff's cue and actually speaks to us.

I don't care what some of you people think about the pricing. I don't pay full price for old content. If it's not offered at a discount if/when it's released, I'm waiting until the price comes down. If that means I never get Dawnguard, so be it. I'm also not getting any other DLCs until I've gotten Dawnguard.

With the way this has gone so far, I feel that Skyrim should never have been released on the PS3 to begin with. Then Bethesda would have a very good excuse for not catering to it.

Alright let's map things out.

PS3 has always had more bugs. They tried to take advantage of the 30 day exclusive to get it ready for the other systems rather than having it ready prior to the 30 days like a smart business company.

They've released a bugged DLC to 360 and PC based off the complaints I've heard, although now that I've dropped PS3 and gone PC I have all these mods and console commands to work around game breaking glitches.

They refuse to say anything but it's not good enough, and people are saying it'll be released without bugs and they prefer that. Now it's been 9 months and some people finally have PS3 running fine with 1.7, others had to delete the patch cause it broke their game further. By the sound of it Europe has yet to receive 1.7 probably because Europe decided its hurting more than its helping.

After 9months they dont have the game bug free.

I had to fix bugs with mods...
This is done so often that people claim Bethesda relies on the modding community and leaves consoles almost out to dry.

It will probably be a few months till dawnguard is released IF its released. People have been talking about DLC's released many months later at full price, so no discounts I'm sure. And with other games PS3 did not get all the DLC. So we may not see hearthfire or whatever on PS3 so that DLC may only be 360 and pc.

And when dawnguard does come out assuming it does, guess what? BUGS!!!!

There's plenty of people complaining now that dawnguard is over priced. Not out of content, because of bugs!!!

Threads about people needing to delete it, about people needing to wipe their saves not just start a new character but wipe their saves to make it work. People needin to reinstall both dawnguard and skyrim, broken quests, and even breaking quests of the base game.

IT WILL STILL HAVE BUGS AT RELEASE

If its yet to even be announced, it's unplayable, a piece of crap that probably takes 2 footsteps to crash. Why? Cause the bug fests that some of these people got (hit and miss not everyone gets them or not as bad as others. I worked around on PC with mods and console commands) were all considered good enough for selling.

You have people complaining now just about the story line and how some of the choices made just made no sense. Like how you end up choosing between the dawnguard and the volkihar clan.

9 months and skyrim is still 60 dollars. So after a year it'll still be im sure.

Dawnguard won't drop for a long long time.

People need to just keep their cool. The best thing we can do is just wait and see what happens without jumping to conclusions. I'm optimistic that Bethesda will learn from this for Hearthfire or whatever it'll be.

Well what I said was more so a statistic.

There was an article about how this is the third worst game delay of the year purely because of silence. A bunch of articles in general about the silence.

But what do I care? I transferred to PC. I'm still complaining for the PS3 users backing their argument because to me they are in the right I have disappointment towards silence and bad business moves. How do we know it's a bad business move? We have this thread and many negative articles.

It's nice to see a few people from other systems backing PS3 up though. A few words would almost make a lot of complaints silent. So many people just want a few words.
