PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #10

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:07 am

These guys have been following this whole Dawnguard thing from the beginning. Its somewhat comforting that there are some people outside of all of this that get it.

The only reason to keep posting here is to hopefully convince others to give Bethesda the BIG MIDDLE FINGER because that is what they give us, The BIG [censored] YOU. They don't give a skeevers ass about our money or our loyalty.

The fact that dawnguard hasn't been released on PS3 yet has also started to attract media attention, i went onto one of our largest newspapersites and it was clearly visible on the frontpage.

I hate xbox, always have, and this doesnt help. Im not really mad but im completely dissapointed in Beth. They remind me of a bad friend who always breaks plans, lies, and boinks your girlfriend in the same room while you're passed out. Seriously, bad buisness and everything else aside, what they're doing now is just rude and inconsiderate. It just svcks that they're such a big company now (because of their fans) and that if someone threatens to not buy their stuff anymore and even goes through with it, it doesnt affect them one bit. Its like someone saying they'll never shop at Walmart. Walmart's like, "uh, ok, see ya?". I said this before but I really think all ps3 users should stop posting here and supporting them. Think of it this way, if Bethesda was a girl (or guy) you were interested in and this is how they treated you, would you stick around? NO. Of course not. There are plenty of other fish in the sea, in this case games in the sea, and I cant think of another company that has treated me like this before. So, sorry Bethesda, I know you dont care but, it's over. I wont lie and say i never loved you and Ill always remember the good times we had. But its over.

Have to disagree with not posting here in protest.

Even if Bethesda higher-ups don't read these posts(and i have no illusions here, i don't think ANYONE other than Gstaff and the other mods read these posts), the sheer number of them sends a message that can't be completely written off. They are a record of the crap-storm that Beth. has brought on itself during this situation. No matter how they choose to rectify all of this, they are aware there is talk, and there is ALOT of it.

Good, bad or indifferent; every post on this situation on these is ultimately to the good.

Yeah I understand. I am going to say what I said in the Hearthfire thread, I hope this makes some of you feel better, if you look at this the way I do.

I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way. Hearthfire is a good thing. This means Bethesda to some degree does like their other players besides the Xbox users because Microsoft made the deal with Bethesda so that the Xbox gets the first two DLC's first. Well, rather than make two decent DLCs that the Xbox gets first Bethesda made Dawnguard, and now Hearthfire, which is such a small DLC it is hardly a DLC. In my mind Bethesda essentially just gave Microsoft the finger by making the second DLC, Hearthfire, a really small DLC that way they can get the deal out of the way, and now they can make the next expansions so they all come out at the same time.

I still have hope for Bethesda because of what they just did with Hearthfire, and them screwing Microsoft out of money.

Yeah, xobx will have two content DLC's likely before one DLC is even announced for the PS3. I bet Microsoft and xbox players are furious.

On a serious note, what makes you so sure that Bethesda will be releasing future DLC on all platforms at the same time? You may hope and believe that they will, but they've already proven through their actions that DLC on the PS3 isn't a high priority for them.

Sony just paid Ubisoft for exclusive content in Assassin's Creed 3. It sounds like Sony customers need to be complaining to Sony, not Bethesda. Exclusivity isn't going anywhere, so no one is going to make it stop. The best thing you can do is complain to your platform company and tell them to spend more money on exclusives so you don't feel left out.

I see 99% of the people here, so enraged, that theyre near boycott stage...But in the very next sentence, or next post they make, state that they will just wait and still buy it in goty ed.. Why continue to support a company that uses these practices at all?" We've al;ll seen EVERYTHING DG has to offer via the 360/pc posts/vids...The company, DOES, NOT, CARE....Why offer them up your hard-earned cash(or your parents in most cases)?!?

The moment i heard that an offer was accepted from Micrsoft, i lost all respect for Bethesda..Put them right to the top of my Corporate garbage companies, along with EA, and Activision...More and more of the game developers are practicing with theswe exact same shady, half-assed, unproffessional ways everyday..It will continue until you 'WE' stop allowing it to happen...For all your raging here on the forums, youve said nothing to them..As in your own words, your still going to buy, not only Dawnguard, but Goty, or whole entire other platforms just to play the dam thing...

There are FAR too many games that release every week, to invest THIS much into companies who are not deserving of your loyalty...Take the money you were going to use for Beth. dlc, and put it towards a game from another developer... i here Darksiders 2 is decent....Dragons Dogma is supposed to be pretty good...I wouldnt know, as i refuse to purchase new releases anymore..9/10 times i buy a new game, its half complete, unpayable, bugged to the point im forced to constantly reload old saves,etc...Skyrim being one of many examples when ive given in, and gone against my better judgement, and gotten screwed for it...Many of you early ps3 players know what im talkin about..

Exclusivity, while i don't agree with it personally, is good business if you can pull it off.

What's going on with the PS3 release of Dawnguard is a different issue. IMO it has zero to do with Microsoft and 100% how Bethesda is doing business, badly.

Speaking only for myself, i've made it a point to stay away from detailed walkthrough info as much as i can. While i'm not gnawing at the bit to do the Dawnguard questlines, when/if i do get to experience them, i'd like to be as surprised as possible. I know the name of one major NPC and aside from info given out when the dlc was announced, i know nothing about DG as i've limited myself to this thread in its many incarnations.

And i do plan on getting all the dlc's for Skyrim if they are ever released on PS3, but that is for the simple reason that i'm already invested in the SKyrim 'thing' and i'd like to finish it out. As for future Bethesda products, that's another matter all together. I've been a TES fan since i was in college and it makes me sad, but unless i see a marked improvement in the way Beth. runs itself, Skyrim will will be my last foray into Tamriel.

Let not and say we did. There are no 'enemies' in all of this mess, especially not other gamers.

Just poor decisions on Bethesda's part.
well put.

They bothered spending extra time trying to get the PS3 version at least as good as the PC and Xbox 360 versions, but of course I would not blame Bethesda if after all the complaints about this, they just decided the PS3 was not worth making DLC for. Bethesda seems to be one of the developers that is interested in pleasing the fans, yet what thanks do they get for it. By the most optimistic expectations, PS3 players have not even waited an extra month for the DLC yet, the exclusive period was 30 days after ALL Xbox 360 versions were released. So yes give them the big finger, prove it is not worth the trouble, then they can save money and just not bother with the PS3 version for the next game, certainly then you would have nothing to complain about, since you would have nothing to play.

Ok.... First off, 90% of the angry posts could be avoided by some plain and simple communication. I for one can say that is my case. And for second.... Their thanks comes by way of sales. At work does your boss thank you for every task completed? (if they do you have an awesome boss) But for the rest of us our thanks come through our paycheck. Also, I have bought every single Elder Scrolls game. I started the series with Arena and fell in love. This lack of communication is, personally, heart breaking because I have been so loyal. I even bought Morrowind 3 separate times. (1- scratched, 2-devoriced and left it for my step son, 3- moved and lost it.) PS3 is my platform of choice. If its PC and XJUNK exclusive I can handle that. But don't blow a bunch smoke in my face. Just tell me the truth for the love of Talos!

Whose expectations? Yours?

And your understanding of the exclusivity is wrong. Its 30 from release of each dlc, not both-how do you explain the Dawnguard dlc release on PC?

While the guy who you quoted is imo opinion out of line(there is no reason to resort to swearing, expressing disdain is just as easy w/o that), your post is just as misguided only in the other direction.

Exactly! I started with Daggerfall and no divorce(though i too bought multiple copies of Morrowind), but the rest is spot on from my experience as well.

Just tell me the truth for the love of Talos!

Or to quote someone whom every player of skyrim knows: "For the love of Talos! Shut up at let's get this over with!" and we haven't got all morning either... Even though it is night here atm lol

It is exactly the lack of communication that I can't take, and of course the fact that they slap our faces by saying that they aim for a joined release on all platforms, and then they go out and release another one before everyone can get the first one.
Bad business Bethesda. Bad business indeed!
