PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #10

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 4:13 am

Just be patient, folks. We all want Dawnguard, but complaining about the delay isn't going to do much of anything. We'd be up in arms if Dawnguard was released and full of bugs - I think waiting a while longer is preferable to that

You want them to release a buggy product that could potentially destroy your game?

I don't agree with rage swearing style posts, but i do think that people should be expressing their disappointment on this current development.

That said, have you even been following what's been going on with the DG dlc for PS3? If you have, could you explain how you can honestly believe that bugs are what is really holding up the PS3 release?

At this point, Beth. should just either kick out what the have done on Dawnguard to the PS3 ASAP and work on patching that or admit that they fail at coding and that an add-on whoop'd them up and cancel the whole endeavor.

Erm, I own...
A gaming PC
A 360
A PS3

I bought Skyrim for PC.

I bought Skyrim for PS3.

I decided to bet on the PC and have not opened the shrink-wrapped copy for PS3. Still haven't. I've finished Dawnguard and now sweating on Hearthfire.

I suppose given Bethesda's support or lack of for the PS3, a good move would be to put all that stuff in the cupboard and forget about all things Playstation. Really disappointing.

I can't believe you gave them their money twice.....

Bugthesda only cares about Xbox , they should look at Devs like EA , Ubisoft etc etc who release games on multi format , they keep customers alot happy , personaly i cant wait for assassins creed 3 , fifa 13 and armoured kill for battlefield 3 .

Dawnguard well what a disaster that has turned out , PR at Bugthesda is just like cowboys they are just useless and they should be fired , Dawnguard wow factor is really gone there is plenty better RPGS than Bugged Skyrim out there and as Bugthesda saying Skyrim is game of the year what a joke , im never going to buy Bugthesdas crappy products again , there is alot of better games out there and coming with less bugs and guess what they play on the PS3 so i dont know what those guys at Bugthesda trying to code for the PS3 what a load of bullcrap

Yeah Bethesda not cool, I was waiting paitently for dawnguard happy enough just to get it, but then you release a trailer for hearthfire a 2nd dlc, and complete silence about DG for the ps3. I'm sure like alot of other ps3 users I'm feeling seriously angry and betrayed.(btw really hard to type this without swearing or threats of boycotting)
I mean how long have you had to turn this out, and if there hasn't been any serious progress in a month then I must ask why are the people working on it still employed by Bethesda.

DO you ever get the feeling that they... just can't get it working on PS3? Like, it just doesn't work...

I'm preparing for the worst... that there's going to be an announcement that it won't be coming for PS3. Been discussing it with my lady today, she reminded me I have a 360 that I never ever use, and that it may be easier to just pick up Skyrim second hand (yeah, take that Bethesda) and play it through again, picking up the DLC as it comes out.

But... the 360 controller is horrible, so I'm reluctant to have to adjust to it.

LOL. Beth are concerned over the performance of Dawnguard. Really?? Why not show the same concern over the 1.7 patch?

Everything being spewed out by this excuse of a game developer is horse poop, their code, their attitude and their game code are all sub par.

If Dawnguard is performing badly now, how do Beth think it will react when overlayed on patch 1.7, which is a complete anti-patch and an utter disaster? I suppose the usual answer of reducing LOD, Draw Distance and resorting to sub HD textures with be the 'FIX'.

I seriously urge people to speak with their wallets and not buy Dawnguard. I won't be. However, this is actually a win for Beth because they can cite poor sales on PS3 when they decide not to release DLC in future.

I bet Xcrap get the new DLC before we get dawnguard. Bethesda, if you come down from your mountain and ever listen to us little people, hear me now. If Xjunk gets the new DLC before we get Dawngiard I WILL NEVER spend another penny on your software again. I have been following Elder Scrolls since Arena. It is a shame how you run your company now. Back in the day you acted like you needed customers. Now I guess your too big to need us anymore.

Sincerely,
A paying customer.

At this point I don't care if Bethesda ever releases DG for PS3.....Skyrim was glitchy enough as it is.....and now they're getting ready to release more content? Ya,it's a slap in the face...

I'm a PS3 gamer, and at this point Beth can get bent.

Hello Madden 13, GTA V, and Black Ops 2...goodbye Skyrim.

I've always loved Bethesda games, but after taking this crap for so long I'm done. They simply don't have the resources to produce and support decent games (or dlc at the least) on my chosen platform.

Never again Bethesda, never again.

True!
You know what I think I am done with all of Bethesda. I am going to take my money and write a check and donate it to ROCKSTAR to help with GTA 5 development. Even if it just buys one of their Developers a few cups of Starbucks, it will be money better spent. Screw you Bethesda.

Ok let's start at the beginning (I have a lot I need off my chest). First ps3 owners are not given the patches that pc and xbox have had for quite some time. Then Dawnguard is released for xbox (fair enough if Micosoft wants to fork over money for 30 days exclusive) and then no word about the dlc for the other consoles. Then pc gets Dawnguard, and still no word on ps3... Then we get word that they are not happy with its performance or some such. Then total silence for a while and then they release 1.6/1.7 in the US... No word on EU patch. Then came the patch for EU and then every ps3 owner gets a slap in the face with the release of a trailer for Hearthfire and a release date for xbox (still a little fair if Microsoft pays to get 30 days exclusive).
What is not fair though is that they keep saying that they aim to release the content on all consoles around the same time... Then it is seriously a bad move to make a new dlc before even making the first one available to everyone.
Not even a statement telling people how far they have come with Dawnguard *and the nerve of wanting to release something this stupid compaired to completing Dawnguard*... You people at Bethesda seriously need to go back to school and learn how to run a business.

I have written some general advice for you:

1. Make a list of all the problems with the Dawnguard dlc, shouldn't be too hard because you probably already have one. Then publish it on the forums and mark the ones that you are done with and add new problems as they surface. That way people can see how close it is to completion and they will not ask you about being kept in the loop all the time. Besides I know a couple of companies who does this already, so it's not a new idea, AND it works a lot of times.

2. Hurry up and complete Hearthfire for ALL consoles if you are planning to release it for the others as well.

3. At least try to live up to what you say that your aiming for and not slapping people in the face by possibly releasing a second dlc before you are completely done with the first one. It's just not a cool thing to do.

4. A good advice would be that you complete AND release both Dawnguard and Hearthfire no later than the end of the 30 days exclusive and possibly even making Hearthfire free as a small way of saying sorry it took so long and for not communicating properly.

I am willing to wait out the 30 day exclusive of the next dlc but if neither Dawnguard nor Hearthfire is released or at the very least have a release date by then I will have lost every bit of faith in Bethesda as a company and I will be very hesitant to buy any game made for any console by Bethesda again.

That is all I have to say at the moment... Thank you.

*Edit: almost forgot about the content of the new dlc.*

But see, your missing the point. They don't care about you or anybody else that is on PS3. They know what they are doing. They just don't need or want our money. My advice, spend it elsewhere. Or take the money and literally set it on fire. It would be better spent.

I play on PS3 and I am not that pissed, I am not quite sure why you guys all are. I know this is definitely bad business, and I think at this point Bethesda might as well make Dawnguard free for PS3 users since I feel a lot people will not be buying it. I still think everyone is overreacting, they are probably working as best as they can to get Dawnguard fixed, why it is taking so long is beyond me, but clearly there is something really messed up with it.

You pretty much answered your own question. People are mad because they bought a $60 game expecting, in good faith, that they would receive similar content and treatment to the other Skyrim customers and that hasn't happened. The lack of content, lack of communication, and the general 'maybe PS3 will get it and maybe it wont' vibe that Bethesda is putting out isn't good business.

I will agree that some people are taking this too seriously and there isn't any point in getting overly upset from not being given the opportunity to buy an average piece of DLC, but It's perfectly understandable for PS3 players to be put off by Bethesda's treatment.

Yeah I understand. I am going to say what I said in the Hearthfire thread, I hope this makes some of you feel better, if you look at this the way I do.

I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way. Hearthfire is a good thing. This means Bethesda to some degree does like their other players besides the Xbox users because Microsoft made the deal with Bethesda so that the Xbox gets the first two DLC's first. Well, rather than make two decent DLCs that the Xbox gets first Bethesda made Dawnguard, and now Hearthfire, which is such a small DLC it is hardly a DLC. In my mind Bethesda essentially just gave Microsoft the finger by making the second DLC, Hearthfire, a really small DLC that way they can get the deal out of the way, and now they can make the next expansions so they all come out at the same time.

I still have hope for Bethesda because of what they just did with Hearthfire, and them screwing Microsoft out of money.

good points but mean while, nothing has been said on Dawnguard not even saying anything about us when they annouced heartfire, so middle finger or not. xbox still has two dlcs & nothing for us, so far. & whos to say they don't renew the contract & give us the dlc all at once on a game of the year verison. its all guesses at this point.

So you are saying that instead of getting two full products exclusively, Microsoft essentially is getting one and a 'gift with purchase'? And that since the 'gift'(Hearthfire) is crap, Bethesda is somehow making out like a bandit? And that this whole supposed interplay is somehow a good thing for myself and other PS3 players? Sorry guy, uh-uh.

I do not care about Microsoft. I do not care that they threw money at Bethesda and that Bethesda rightly took it(that's business). I do not care about even care about delays all that much, i've been playing videogames all my life and delays are inevitable.

What i DO care about is when is Bethesda going to finally give some info on the status of Dawnguard? Real info, not the tripe they have been pushing for months. Has the dlc been cancelled? Has work on Dawnguard been put on hold until after the holiday push? Has work on Dawnguard been redirected from a standalone dlc to a GotY component?

You know, real info. Not crap from the internet verbal diarrhea machine AKA Twitter.

EDIT: Yes i do hate Twitter.

I hate xbox, always have, and this doesnt help. Im not really mad but im completely dissapointed in Beth. They remind me of a bad friend who always breaks plans, lies, and boinks your girlfriend in the same room while you're passed out. Seriously, bad buisness and everything else aside, what they're doing now is just rude and inconsiderate. It just svcks that they're such a big company now (because of their fans) and that if someone threatens to not buy their stuff anymore and even goes through with it, it doesnt affect them one bit. Its like someone saying they'll never shop at Walmart. Walmart's like, "uh, ok, see ya?".

I said this before but I really think all ps3 users should stop posting here and supporting them. Think of it this way, if Bethesda was a girl (or guy) you were interested in and this is how they treated you, would you stick around? NO. Of course not. There are plenty of other fish in the sea, in this case games in the sea, and I cant think of another company that has treated me like this before. So, sorry Bethesda, I know you dont care but, it's over. I wont lie and say i never loved you and Ill always remember the good times we had. But its over.

I lost a lot of my interest in Dawnguard over the 30 day exclusivity period, I still got it in the end even though I wasn't nearly as excited for it as I was when it was announced. I can't imagine how much PS3 users have lost interest in Dawnguard.

Saw a falling star last night, so I did the proper thing and wished for world peace

As a side note, I asked for DG to be released to us PS3 users this coming Tuesday along with Hearthfire for Xbox. Now, I know I'm jinxing the whole thing by telling my wish.. However, I doubt we'll see sudden world peace this Tuesday so by default I don't think my add-on wish will be granted either

Oh well, wishful thinking.

Edit: As a side note, I just watched Great Battle for Dawnguard. Awesome!
