PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #11

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 4:28 am

If they told us that they won't be releasing Dawnguard for PS3, Dishonored would take a massive hit in sales from the PS3 players. So, what I propose, is that the moment Dishonored comes out, they will be like, "Oh yeah, sorry, no DG for PS3"... Yup.

I just want them to tell us now. I've been avoiding all Dawnguard videos on Youtube (and there have been a LOT) just so I can avoid spoilers... But if we won't be getting the DLC, I want to know so I can watch them!

They also said that there was just a few people working on Hearthfire. Since the beginning of August we have not heard anything about DG on the PS3, but I'd assume they still want the PS3 community's money, so we'll EVENTUALLY see it, I just don't know when.

If it was just a few people working on hearthfire then how did they get it done so fast, they probably haven't even been working on dawnguard..........too difficult......

I know there's a lot of rage going on about the announcement of Hearthfire and no sight of Dawnguard. Meh. Ok. So Xbox gets another timed exclusive and can build a house. To be honest it isn't all that appealing to me. Much like mounted combat it's merely "eh". I will most likely get it simply to expand the Skyrim experience, but it isn't a must-have.

What I rather dislike, however, is the spin media has put on the whole fiasco. Most news sights end with something along the lines of "at least PS3 users can now enjoy mounted combat!". Wonderful. I can enjoy mounted combat when I have seldom even considered using a horse thanks to fast travel.

I've been lucky; my copy of Skyrim has run smooth since release and through all the patches. Very few minor bugs and maybe a freeze once in a blue moon. I really am interested in what is so game breaking about DG that it needs months of attention to fix?

My two cents, again

This has also annoying the living crap out of me. All of the articles I read, "Hearthfire announced for Xbox 360! No sign of DG for PS3, but hey, at least they can enjoy mounted combat!"

1) We get to enjoy a patch that came out several months earlier for Xbox. Yeah, awesome!
2) Mounted combat is a tiny little add-on. It's hardly going to keep someone entertained for more than 15 minutes.

Also, to the people that are saying, "Who cares about Hearthfire anyway", I care. It's not the DLC that matters, it's the principal. They have announced another DLC whilst PS3 don't have the first. THAT'S why we are annoyed, don't use the argument "Hearthfire svcks anyway".

On one hand I can understand the annoyance about the new DLC announcement while we await DG. However, I also understand that an entire game studio doesn't have every single person working on one project. We know very little about the work being done with DG for PS3. Perhaps investing more man-power into it could hasten the release, but we can't know for sure.

And.. this leads to the other thing people are annoyed about: we simply know nothing because nothing has really been said about the matter. I certainly would love to have DG right now, but waiting is all we can do and no amount of raging will fix the situation. Hopefully this will not repeat with HF. If it does.. wow.

I agree with this. I feel like we will get Hearthfire right after the 30 day exclusive. It has nothing to do with Dawnguard, and for God's sake, how can house-building not run on the PS3?!?!? Anyway, my fear is that any major DLC like Dawnguard is going to have problems and delays. If that's the case, there is something really wrong with their programming (Nothing like stating the obvious). If they are having this much trouble with Dawnguard, it seems likely we won't see any other major DLCs. That's just my thought right now. STILL I would rather it be delayed or even cancelled than get something game breaking.

The majority of the bugs I've encountered are rather my own doing. "Power-leveling" a skill using a specific way before checking online for possible bugs; these kinds of things. I have lots of patients, especially considering my line of work. It is rather disheartening that Bethesda choose to stay very quiet about our plight. I have been a long time fan, and will continue to be. For me it is silly to think "boycott" or "ban" when the game studio has given me so much play time above and beyond anything I've ever played.

When I see each day that DG is still not out I don't get mad. When HF was announced for next week, I still did not get upset. The way I look at it is this: They've given me hundreds (perhaps bordering on even a thousand? I can't tell!) of gaming hours. There's no way I'm going to rage over having to wait for 20 more hours. Business theories aside, it's all a waiting game.

And that's just it: it is a game

Bethesda could read this and basically think: "Oh, see, they don't care if we give them DG or not, they will still give us their money whenever we ask for it."

Then again, they could see the rage posts about the boycotting and still think the same. For every one person that says they won't buy it, at least ten will still buy it. Mostly because the wait makes it all the more pleasing when one does get it.

Not my point. My point is more philosophical.

I've already invested time and money into the company. To ban them forever because I have to wait for another 20 hours of DLC? Downright silly in the grand scheme.

The reason I've invested this time and money is because they provide a service and I enjoy that service. This is not to say I am not anxious for DG to be released, but when I read folks frothing at the mouth and threatening boycotts it makes me snicker a bit. All this over 20 hours of content. I understand immediate gratification, but threatening to "burn down their building" is not only ridiculous, it is immature and tactless.

While I agree to an extent, the problem is to me the lack of communication. To be honest I have no clue whether Bethesda will even continue to support the ps3 with any future DLC. If Dawnguard is causing that many issues, the potential larger expansion pack similar to a Shivering Isles seems pretty bleak.

I agree with this. I will buy DG. I will buy Hearthfire. I will buy every piece of DLC that they put out for Skyrim, just because I love it so much. But I will NOT pay full price for any of them. The ONLY reason I am doing this, is because of the Dawnguard debacle and Beth's history with their programming blunders on the PS3.

This is true. But I, for one, already have over 300 hours into this game. To me, I have already gotten my $60.00 worth. If we don't get the DLCs, I will trade it in and move on.

Hello everyone I'm new and this is my first post on this forum and I joined out of sheer indignation! I apologize in advance if my English is not perfect but I am Italian and therefore not native English speakers ...
i'm really disgusted by the fact that they have paid 69 euros for a ps3 game that at first had equal rights with those of different consoles and then turned out to be unfairly discriminated against by bethesda, I paid good money to play and pretend like many others who Dawnguard is also released for ps3 console, the fact that bethesda does not issue statements because DG delays so long to get there, in my humble opinion, is a commercially motivated turn increase customer xbox 360 (I have nothing against the Xbox 360) and in a bad light sony ps3 (obviously that's just my guess I do not intend to attack anyone) but maybe i'm raving like a madman XD it's just that having paid good money I am entitled to receive an explanation as to why the x box is seen with 2 DLC as well the ps3 is found after one month and even more with the only update 1.7 and no DLC
sorry for the vent ...

Wouldnt that freeze you too?
No it wouldnt freeze you. Everything else in a certain range from you would be frozen in time. While your character moves like normal.

Here are my favorite examples of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT57L9MMnac That would be a wicked power to have on a game....make it last like 30 seconds or something

While i am ranting about powers......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EplY_DNBVw0

You know what power I'd like? I'd like the Vampire Lord power. And the power to use a crossbow, and smith Dragonbone weapons. But we're not allowed such things, obviously.

If a member of Bethesda is reading this, please hear me out. Dawnguard would be nice, yes, but really what I want are three things:
  • Crossbows
  • Dragonbone Weapons/Arrow Smithing
  • New dragons
Who else agrees? These are the best things about the DLC! Surely, if DG is causing you so much trouble, you could at least give us these upgrades as a free patch? PLEASE?

Talos? Ugh.. you stormcloaks and your false god.

Anyway, surprisingly they've done relatively well with the 1.7 Europe patch, so far.... It's a start. Mayhaps a little more tweaks and Dawnguard will be all set for the PS3!! If Hearthfire releases for xbox and pc before we get Dawnguard, by the Eight I'll... I'll....

They could at least patch in Dragonbone weapons and Crossbows whilst we're waiting. Honestly, that would take absolutely no work for them and it would keep us happy for a while.
