PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #14

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 2:09 am

Everyone needs to be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, there is a way to express yourself in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts or personal insults against other forum members.

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.
Also we now have the news that the https://twitter.com/elderscrolls/status/239177833199583235 so hopefully Dawnguard for the PS3 is closer. (**Now released**)

in all honesty i love bethesda and everything they're doing unfortunately me being a ps3 user means i will have to wait to get dawnguard or not get it at all. Either way im still happy with skyrim and i know bethesda would make it up to us in some way such as discounts on future DLC or something like that possibly a head start on some other new one still again upsetting that we don't have dawnguard yet but we will.

Reopening now

Folks, if you play on something other than a PS3, don't come in here and brag about how wonderful it is to play on your choice of system. It's like having an ice cream cone and eating it in front of a starving child while making yum noises and licking your lips. Rude, very rude and here we call it flamebait.

And please remember that we don't allow anyone to call another member a troll even if they think they are. It's written right in our rules. If you think someone is trolling...report them and let a moderator sort it out. I'd have to give about 8 people warnings if I gave the first from the posts I just deleted. Further such posts in this thread will likely get on my last nerve and I'm not beyond giving multiple warnings.

Keep it respectful and on topic. "My xbox/PC plays this wonderful and you should have chosen a different console" is not only off topic, it's trolling. :toughninja:

People, if I missed something it's because there were a ton of problem posts and well, I am human. Keep in mind that there is a report button to assist moderators with things they would otherwise miss or not see.

But also keep in mind that posting about moderator action or inaction is against the rules of this forum.
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/
9. Posting about moderator or administrator action or inaction is also against the rules of this forum.

Please feel free however to contact the moderator involved, another moderator you feel comfortable with, our community manager Gstaff or another admin if you disagree with a moderator action. Our moderators do not mind taking a second look or discussing an action with the other moderators and admin to assure they have acted fairly. So if you think you've been treated wrongly or that unfairly, be sure to send a PM. Sometimes moderators make mistakes.

5. Trolling is not allowed here.

In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as this forum to bait users into responding. They may also plant images and data that others may find disturbing (usually indirectly relating to the individual in person) in order to cause confrontation.

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult or demean another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.

Before Bethesda does something nice for the PS3 they first got to give a damn. Outside of duping millions back when hey were all 'great parity' they don't care as far as the could kick you.

Look for YouTube of fonv ultimate edition. This was released AFTER the skylag debacle they were 'oh so a small number of users were affected'

we aren't getting anymore than mushrooms - kept in the dark and fed [censored] (mostly from Gstaff and tweet hines)

These people lack the moral compass to do right by the customers holding the now completely defunct and unsupported product.

2 days and hearthfire comes out. Dawnguard is not on ps3. The box promises add on content, and its likely we won't get it. Bethesda has not told us anything more, and when they do its quite literally once in a blue moon. They have not fixed Fallout 3 for us. They have botched quality testing for New Vegas on us. They gave us the finger by taking this exclusivity deal with Microsoft, knowing how they treat us. They tricked us into buying an unplayable copy of skyrim by only sending out xbox copies to reviewers (that was where I personally drew the line), They lied and said they fixed our lag bug in a patch which they knew didnt, and actually made it worse, they lied because they still wanted ps3 copies to sell (what other way than to lie about a fix so they could make one final quick buck before it was discovered they didnt fix it), they decide to FINALLY fix it months later just before dawnguards official announcement (hmmm....), they have NOT APOLOGIZED FOR ANY OF THIS, NOR HAVE THEY EVEN TRIED DENYING IT. Do they think they can pull this off for much longer?

They do care now, but not about the customers. The Dawnguard debacle has gotten more coverage than their previous screw-ups, and now they're trying to save face. They don't want to loose out on all the 20 dollar purchases customers could make, or the future 60 dollar games they could sell to us completely broken. Bethesda wants us to think they care about us, but they really care about keeping our wallets open.

I have good news then cause expect Dishonored to have barely any sales form the PS3 community cause the liers are do the same thing agian with what they did with Skyrim.

Yup which is way I hope that DG wont come cause then the PS3 users base leaves Beth, Beth then stops making games for the PS3, because Beth stops making games for the PS3 MS stops paying for timed DLC cause the PS3 is out of the picture and everyone wins but Beth.

I honestly don't see this fiasco affecting Bethesda sales too much, so long as they do get the DLC released at some point. It's a different story if it never comes. I know people are pretty upset with Bethesda at the moment, but many will be willing to forgive as long as we're given what we want, no matter how long it takes.

See now I disagree with this just a little because I do not have problems with Skyrim on the PS3, when I first bought it the lag in Riften was bad, but that was the only place, and once they released the patch I had no more lag. The only other bug I encountered was the water one where it would freeze once I hit the water, but that was an easy fix.

Bethesda has certainly made some questionable choices towards the PS3 community, but for me personally, I won't feel spat on, flipped off and insulted until they actually say they're not releasing DLC on the PS3. That's the point for me where I'd say that's too much. As I stated in my first post, I've never experienced any game breaking glitches or bugs in any of the Bethesda titles that I've put hundreds of hours into over the last few years, these include Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion.

So them taking 80 days to make patch 1.6 available to all customers on all platforms in all regions (PS3 Europe being the last to get it) after not offering an explanation for over two months as to why the PS3 was the only one without the patch, and not apologizing for the incident (or this one) doesn't feel like you're being insulted?

I doubt Bethesda will release Dawnguard if they have to sell it at a loss. I think the longer it takes, the less likely we'll see Dawnguard.

The reason Dawnguard isn't working is because Skyrim is basically held together with bubblegum and band-aids on the PS3. And now that Dawnguard isn't working, they have to scraqe off all the jury-rigged fixes and actually fix Skyrim as well.

I can't feel insulted personally. Like I said earlier, I'm in a completely different boat than the rest of you. I've not purchased Skyrim yet, as I have been holding out for the GOTY Edition. I generally wait for the GOTY (or equivalent) editions of Bethesda titles because I like having the entire "world" of the game open to me from the beginning, rather than using a highly developed character to knock off the DLCs as they are released. Another reason is because I've always found that waiting for the re-release editions has provided Bethesda with a lengthy amount of time to iron out any bugs with the titles. Now according to many on here, these editions still suffer from bugs that render them unplayable, but from personal experience, I've never experienced any. So for me, it's hard to feel insulted when I've not personally experienced any of the problems that the rest of you seem to have.

Ahh... Sorry, I missed the fact you haven't purchased the game on the PS3 yet (Don't). My mistake.

But yeah, I've been trying to get tech support on this game for months. The last time I tried to report bugs, the person literally tried to hang up on me because I had emailed them months before listing several bugs. Never mind the fact that I was trying to report new bugs for them to fix, the fact that I had notified them before about aspects of their product that were faulty meant that I was to be hung up on after being on hold for 30 minutes.

Wonderful customer service.

There won't be a game of the year edition for Skyrim if Bethesda can't release the DLC.

Originally I had thought the same, but someone told me that Bethesda was having similar issues with releasing DLC for Oblivion and were able to rectify the problem by having it released on the disc itself (Knights of the Nine on the standard edition, Knights of the Nine/Shivering Isles on the GOTY/5th Anniversary editions). I'm not sure if this is all true or not, but if it is, I hope Bethesda will at least be able to get the DLC available on the PS3 through the inevitable GOTY Edition of Skyrim.
