PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #21

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:03 pm

1. Those aren't updates, that's just repeating what they already said.
2. What they already said was insufficient because they're not giving us any real specifics about the situation, not even basic on ones.

If they gave the specifics it would not change the update, unless they have something new, specifics or not it would be the same thing every update. Real simple to see where that leads to the same frustration your suffering from now...the update will not change until something new happens.

A simple, unprompted "Hey everyone, haven't forgotten about you, still working on it... SORRY FOR THE DELAY" would constitute an update. We're not begging for proprietary info, just some courtesy.

It seems to me that unless the answer is "no", "no time frame" or "we're working with Sony to see what's possible, we're not going to be getting much more out of Pete Hines (apart from the occasional spat with someone who insults him - which he should really just ignore, since he's ignoring the bulk of our courteous, topical questions, anyway).

It's my opinion that nothing will be resolved until the next DLC is announced, at the earliest. Being the first non-"timed exclusive" release, Bethesda will have no choice but to come clean about the PS3 situation if they are unable to release that across all platforms (even if it's their silence doing all of the talking). Whatever the outcome is with this next DLC turns out to be will give Bethesda an opportunity to "rectify" the situation (either "here's all 3 and we had to stay quiet because compatibility with this one was the problem", "here's number 3 and we can't get the first 2 to work with it" or "sorry PS3, we're done here."). I don't think we'll get anything concrete until then, apart form maybe a "Hearthfire on the PS3 Update" post on the Bethblog on or around 10/4.

That's funny cause I remeber him saying played DG on the Xbox tonight two months ago.

To Gstaff if no progress has been made sense the last time you told us no progress have be made then I assume you haven't started to work in fixing the problems with DG on the PS3 and I bet you guys just moved on to HF clean up for Xbox.

I didn't say "no progress has been made." I was just letting you guys know that the statement from the end of August still applies. Specifically, this:

We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone.

The team is still working on things and we're also working with Sony to see what's possible. If there's more to share, I'll let you guys know.

Thanks.

Speak of the devil!

I hope for Bethesda's sake that if they release Dawnguard, it is good.

You make it sound like people will kill Bethesda if they do release Dawnguard and it isn't perfect.

Well if there's this much cain raised over the fact that it hasn't, It would be insult to injury. You thought a couple media people speaking out about this not getting released was bad, imagine the anger when we find out that they ship out a 20 dollar DLC that might still have issues.

I doubt anyone in thier right mind would expect perfect from Beth on the PS3, somewhat crippled maybe but not perfect. ;)
