PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #30

when there's a full update I can share, it'll be here in the forums, on the blog, and anywhere else i can share it.

Does this imply that there have been smaller (less full) updates that you chose not to share? Do these smaller updates indicate any progress what so ever?

Not trying to patronize you guys. I just can't share new details if there's nothing new to share. We are working on PS3 stuff (as is the case with PC and 360), and when there's a full update I can share, it'll be here in the forums, on the blog, and anywhere else i can share it.

HA HA HA!!! I find that really hard to believe. The truth is you guys haven't even started working on porting the PS3 version of the DLCs have you??? That's why you haven't made any progress. I bet you are really focused on working on the "Dragonborn" DLC trying to rush it as fast as you can to meet the deadline right before the holiday season starts. Why else would you have made another deal with M$ to bundle Skyrim with the 360 with the price drop. Will the PS3 even get patch 1.8 at the same time at the 360??? Will the update remain the same after halloween or new years "No news to share"??? Just say if the patch will arrive at the same time as the 360, so I can see if the game plays like it did with 1.4 or not so I can give it to the store for the $3 is worth now

Well, I just finished Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and I gotta say that was a great game! True, the graphics aren't as good as Skyrim, but the overall enjoyment factor through playing the main story, faction quests, and 90% of the side quests sits better than it did with Skyrim. Only encountered one minor bug in the game, and my only gripe is the lvl 40 cap (should've went to 50). Five or six threads ago, I stated that if DG hadn't been released by the time I finished, I would just use my PSN card to get a KOA DLC. Well, looks like EA is getting my money instead of Bugthesda.

I just picked up a copy of KoA:Reckoning, it's great so far! I'm on the fence with the level cap since you can re-spec your character (provided you have the gold) after a certain point in the game. Getting the right build is tricky if you are dual classing because you want a minimum amount of skill on each side to get the "fate card" bonus. Having level 50 will allow your character to get one or more of the Tier 5 skills and still get the fate card bonuses, but there will be less incentive to specialize in a single class. The "jack of all trades" class will definitely have more bite with a level cap increase as well.

I'm currently focused on finishing Assassin's Creed Revelations in anticipation for the upcoming release Assassin's Creed 3. I did this on purpose in case there's a hairy cliffhanger like there normally is in the AC franchise, I won't have to wait long to see how it pans out.

I am of course disappointed that we still don't have a Skyrim DLC for the PS3 after all this time, but since my gaming plate is going to be full I guess it's better if they have everything working correctly before they release the PS3 port. I will of course continue to be frustrated if they release yet another DLC to X360 and PC in front of the PS3 port of DG, maybe not surprised but definitely frustrated.

It is not Dawnguard that is the problem. Skyrim is the problem. My Playstation 3 is playing a X-BOX 360 game. Unless they plan to redo Skyrim and actually turn it into a Playstation 3 game, I don't see how we would ever get Dawnguard. There just isn't anymore room. If they haven't came up with ANYTHING since August, then apparently they're stuck. There is nothing they can do.

In fact, even when there is no change, there is always information that may be of interest to players.

Bethesda think to understand the players but the reality is that there can not because players think several things simultaneously.

Bioware had made the mistake in thinking that the end of ME3 old enough players. They defended their work first before finally understand what the players really wanted. And since then, things are again in order (at least in the last BSN French it rattle less ^ ^)

This will take time but I think Bethesda arrive to question, and from there, we can finally have a more healthy communication between Bethesda and PS3 players. (Wow, even I get to see that Google Translate translated anyhow)

So I encourage Gstaff to review what happened on the side of developers since late August, I'm sure there's a important info even if it has no direct link with the DLC.

I'm sorry Gstaff. I know that you aren't one of the programmers or anything like that, but I hope you (and Pete Hines, since he's the other person who continually says nothing's changed) understand what it means to consumers when you say that nothing has changed after nearly two months of working with Sony on this. It doesn't really inspire much confidence when you guys haven't been able to at least make some progress that you can actually talk about during all this time.

And while I'm sure you can't answer this, I'm going to ask anyway: How big is the team of people working on this (how many from Bethesda versus how many from Sony)? I don't know what the composition of your entire staff is, but maybe you'd have more luck resolving this within a year of the game's release if you dedicated more resources to it. Again, I'm speculating because I have no way of knowing how many people you have working on this, but the fact that you guys haven't been able to give an actual update since August suggests the number is low.

Also, how many people do you guys have working on patches at this point?

Again, I'm sorry that you get blamed for this mess when you're just the messenger, but people have gotten really tired of just seeing you or Hines post that there's nothing new to say.
This. This is exactly how I feel, and this what I want to know.

As I said several threads back, I think if they want to fix the problem they will have to essentially recode the whole base game for the PS3, rather than porting it from the Xbox 360.

If there's no update, why did they add that line of code into the 1.8 patch? Makes no sense.

This honestly looks like one of those things were you got a big company and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing... Gstaff/Pete Hines probably doesn't have any new info until those working on the PS3 DLC actually share it with them. Just because they work for the same company doesn't mean they all get the same info.

True, but when you've had a massive missfire like this and various media outlets, forums, and more have started to take note and whispers of a company being incompetent not only start to surface, but become increasingly louder, you'd think that the left hand might take the time to go figure out what the right hand is doing.

I don't think that it's an unimaginable task for one or the both of them to go ask their co-workers if they've made any progress or if there's a status update of any kind.

maby they should recode the whole game, tho i know nothing about codeing so i dont know how long that could take, but its been almost a year since relase, maby they could have spent this past year doing that.

Oh I agree with you... but they have mismanaged this entire thing from the get go... I don't see them doing to sensible thing now. The base Skryim on PS3 has been handled horribly, the PS3 DLC has been handled horribly, and the patches have been rather lackluster not fixing anything compared to what non-payed, amateur coders have fixed.

Maybe they're simply saving the announcement for the next DLC release. Tell me you wouldn't find it awesome that after watching the trailer it says "available soon for PC and Xbox"... waits for a second or three.... "and Playstation 3!" in big bold type. ^_^

The second beta patch has recently landed on Steam. Once the final lands it would be like another month until it can actually launch to consoles (based on past timings)

would anyone feel better if they told you today it was coming, but couldnt tell you when?

on the other hand, why not put out an official statement that says they are still optimistic (or not as the case may be)

It's only takes about week to get on consoles once the final patch is released on to Steam. So shouldn't be to much longer if the final releases soon.

I wish they would just release the damn DLC already. I want to get my hands on Falmer Hardened Armor and Dragonbone weapons so I can RP as the most horrific thing in all the universe...The Chaurumer!

Ahem. Sorry for going a little off-track, but seriously...it is almost the end of October. Halloween is a week away and still we have heard nothing but the same old crap almost every other day. This problem should have been fixed already, it probably already is and Bethesda just doesn't want to tell us because they want to surprise us like they did with the PC users. I don't want to be surprised, I just want them to release Dawnguard.

What you guys take on this?

Late August update? That wasn't an update. Early August was the last update.

You are not only patronizing us, but taking advantage of us. Besides the DLC debacle, which is solely Bethesda's fault, you sold us a broken port that was advertised as a fully functioning game. It's been almost a year since Skyrim's release and we still have a terribly functioning game that was guaranteed to work without issue according to the warranty and the end-user agreement.

Knowing how broken Skyrim is, you STILL continue the sale of Skrim. And every copy you sell is another consumer that you take advantage of.

I dont think it is wrong for people to want an update. It doesnt need to be the final update or a "full update you can share." Where did that courtesy go?

The update on August 30th was great, "[color=#9F9F9F]It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard." Where did that courtesy go?

Now for the patronizing part, "if we can’t get the performance to an ‘acceptable’ standard. Our stance on this has not changed" When did that stance start? Where was that stance at launch?
