PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #32

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:00 am

It's the culture to lie at Bethesda. Pete Hines may be a shining example of dishonesty but Nick Breckon and Todd Howard will spout-off boldfaced lies as well.

You'd have to fire the entire front-facing side of Bethesda just to make a dent and it probably still wouldn't change anything.

Bethesda also has a community manager we can complain to. His name is Nick Breckon. Haggle him and Pete Hines. Here's his twitter link.

It's actually quite humorous that the last message Pete decided to leave up on his twitter account is what it is. It's a good thing he took full credit for what is true.

Look folks, like I said last night, there's not one shred of evidence anyone can point to regarding the PS3 community that shows anyone this isn't the Titanic for Bethesda heading into the holidays. I'm sure they are hoping for getting content up for the PS3 but it's likely already on the ocean floor. By being silent, they likely hope it won't completely tank their Skyrim remaining PS3 sales or tank their "Platium scam" of the PS3 Skyrim ripoff. The only thing that is going to have even a remote chance of really making Bethesda do anything is if Sony brings a massive hammer down on their heads. That's likely why their coders went crawling back to them. If you really want to look at truth, they are leveraging all their money away from everything now but Microsoft. Even computer coding has little appeal for them. Microsoft owns them now due to their short-sided view of the gaming world. FYI, hey Todd, Pete, I'm never buying that XBox console. And Microsoft itself is going to be fighting for their lives as they have to compete for OS shares from everyone carrying portables now. You folks at Bethesda should have reversed course three games back and know in this day and age you don't close doors and destroy your own alleyways to markets. The one REAL flagship, Elderscrolls has been cast into selling your soul to one company. The irony is it's almost like a game sequence from Elderscrolls. Boy's it's not long before as you head towards the door to introduce something new that you'll see the towns people and guards running at you with some fury. Enjoy. We will as it unfolds.

I am still completely baffled at how a company as large as Bethesda uses personal twitter accounts to get information to people. I couldn't care less about soccer or hats. But, that seems to be what's on their minds. All it does is display that they aren't paying attention to a major release news cycle and the discontent that came with it.

I'm not angered at bethesda for the delay, neither am i upset at the lack of commuication, i am overall disapointed at bethesda, and how they seem to ignore us i expect more of you, the games may be buggy at release but you could easily do better. Perhaps hire someone who's actually good a coding for ps3, or go to a seminar for retardedness, whatever helps.

This is the last straw for me. Might pick up a used xbox copy in the future, but I'll never give any money to Bethesda again.

It's completely ridiculous at this stage. It's been six months since the release of Dawnguard and PS3 users haven't had a real update on it's status since August. We are now in November. Since the release of the first DLC, another has been released (Hearthfire) and both of them were Xbox timed exclusives... though that meant only PC users were temporarily deprived because the PS3 DLCs weren't going to be released anyway due to technical issues.

Now we have the impending release of the third DLC for Skyrim and, despite the fact the Xbox exclusivity contract supposedly ended with Hearthfire, there's been no mention of a release date for PC users.

As for PS3 users? Well, like I said, there has been no substantive update since August and this trailer contains nothing to suggest that it will ever end up on the PS3 either. It certainly seems that Bethesda's claims that the PS3 would be treated with parity, receive timely updates and run just as well as the game on other consoles were lies. Get that - LIES. The terrible state of the game for many PS3 users, the updates that broke more than they fixed, the complete lack of any DLC for the PS3 and the dearth of information regarding when (if ever) PS3 users will ever get that DLC shows that Bethesda is really, truly incompetent at not only coding for the PS3 but also at customer support and relations.

It's bad enough releasing word of a third DLC before 1/3 of your customer base has recieved the ability to purchase the first one but the very idea that they would release word of an new DLC for the Xbox without even providing a perfunctory update on the PS3 situation is mind boggling in the extreme. All this has been a perfect example of how NOT to run a business.

A couple of posts regarding petitions and/or boycotts have gone away. We don't allow discussion of such on this forum for anything at all.

See, no shred of empathy. All they care about is making Bethesda look as good as possible. That, and keeping us quiet until Bethesda is done screwing us over.

I think ppl need to have far more patience. This isn't any ordinary problem that Betheda has to deal with. they have stated several times that they are not giving up and getting the DLC to the PS3. If they give up they will tell us, If they succed they will tell use. But a detailed update wouldn't hurt. Besides all the complaining, you ppl hunger for TES and that is why you are upset, understandable....

I think they call this "career ending" in most companies. To be clear, I'm not looking to have Pete fired. But there comes a time when a person is either doing their job, or they aren't, and the company has to decide what to do about it. Bethesda may be at that point. Or, maybe they need to add some PR folks to the company to help disseminate information.

They could even have an XBOX PR person, PC PR person and PS3 PR person so the issues are addressed specific to users. Since they treat each community differently, might as well have a point of contact for each.

I am looking for Peter to get the sack, he has been an embarrassment for Beth regarding PS3 for months now. As has GStaff. Sack them both. And the guy who was in charge of the PS3 port. Utter failure. Why would anyone not fire people who've screwed up at their jobs that badly?

Communicate openly with us Bethesda. It really isn't hard.

Well well. Imagine. It looks like the bad is going to keep resurfacing over, and over, and over again. Like a constant punch in the face. I hope there's plenty of room on that dragon so the Bethesda team can find a way to fly away.

Article from the International Business Times about the new DLC.

In September, Bethesda wrote an open letter to fans apologizing for and addressing the issues that have prevented DLC from coming to the PS3.

It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Welp Im completely done with anything Bethwescrewourcustomersupda**. Been playing TES since Arena too, very sad really. What a complete waste of money Skyrim ended up being. At this point beth could give me an xbox with skyrim and all the dlc and I'd say no thanks. If anyone holds out hope now they are a better man than I. I'm competely and utterly disgusted with this major FU to customers. Just one word comes to mind now....Pathetic.

Bethesda is darned if they do and darned if they don't with most of you out there. If they released the DLC in it's prescent state ( Not to a working quility that everybody would injoy and they siad it is working) you would be upset they released a broken game as some of you complain about with the vannila game. And then all the complaning about it not being out yet. Darned if they do and darned if they don't...

Most people just want a solid update on what's going on from Bethesda. It's been months since we've gotten an update that really gave us any kind of information on what the problem was and where they were going with it.

If Bethesda wanted to avoid the 'darned if they do/don't' scenario then they should have coded the game correctly for the PS3 from the very beginning.

A part of me hoped that there would be mention of a PS3 release. No such luck. On the upside, I'm having a blast with Assassin's Creed 3.

I, for one, have been completely happy with the base game. I am playing it on the PS3 I got the day they were released many years ago. There have been minor "inconveniences" while playing, but nothing that made it unplayable. This again, is based on my experience with it alone. I'm not even asking that they release it for the sake of releasing it. However, I do think that after several month; "We are working on it" is a somewhat flimsy update. Has progress been made? If not, will there be a time that they have to scuttle the efforts? I think most here are frustrated with the lack of information far more than the lack of a released "broken product".

It needn't have been that way. It's their own fault. They claimed prior to release that Skyrim would be receiving equal treatment across all platforms - that's now been shown as a blatant lie. They LIED and they deserve all the criticism and scorn being leveled at them now. There is a way out for them here but they'll not take it because it'll mean graciously taking a financial hit. When/if the DLC are available on the PS3 they should be in a reduced price bundle. The thing is Bethesda would rather take the financial hit of losing it's PS3 customer base by being stubborn blockheads rather than doing the right thing, admitting defeat, and offering recompense.

I said earlier that imo Bethesda has one very last shot at redemption in the upcoming(possibly..) 1.8 patch. But i think you are really late to the wake my friend. Spend maybe a good 30 min on Google and i think you will have a better grasp on the situation as a whole.

I came here after ages since I just saw the Dragonborn trailer, and wow... still not even a hint of the progress, or lack thereof. I'm actually really disappointed in Bethesda, I really doubt they've been working on Dawnguard for this long with no new information to give us.
