PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #32

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 11:28 am

Most people just want a solid update on what's going on from Bethesda. It's been months since we've gotten an update that really gave us any kind of information on what the problem was and where they were going with it.

What is said above is absolutely true... It's been almost half a year since they stated the whole "We're not sure if we can even fix the problem".

...by now, they should at LEAST know if they can fix the problem or not.

If they CAN fix the problem, but it may take another month or so to do it - JUST TELL US SO! Trust me! Most gamers will understand! They'll just take a break from Skyrim and go play another game, and will be happy and willing to come back WHEN you announce it.

At this rate, they're just angry. Very VERY angry... and won't buy it even if it DOES come out a few months later.

If Bethesda wanted to avoid the 'darned if they do/don't' scenario then they should have coded the game correctly for the PS3 from the very beginning.

They can avoid the 'damned if they do/don't' scenario right NOW if they just came out and said "We believe we can fix the problem, but it will take more time. But at least we can tell our patient PS3 users that it's a matter of "when", not "if" at this point."

Its obvious that Bethesda is biased in every way towards the 360, and is in bed with Microsoft, and could give a [censored] less about ps3 users.

I used to think that those of us who vowed to never purchase anything either developed or published by Bethesda were harsh extremist outliers but now I realize that we need a clubhouse and a newsletter.

Pervect, please sign me up and tell me where to find the clubhouse!! This is complete and utter horse%^&*!!!!!!!!!!!

& yet again no news for us ps3 owners & i also find it funny on beths blog they say what its going to be worth on Xbox & not Ps3 or Pc.
At this point i'm beyond angry, beyond caring about Skyrims dlc. we get it Bethesda you love xbox & could care less about anyone else, but businesses that do these don't stay around long.
at this point i don't even think i'll be getting ANY of skyrims dlc. if we even get any at all at this point. Congrats Bethesda, you give dlc to one console & treat the others like there nothing, not a good business move, giving up 75% of you profits for a 25% profit. if not a 40% profit & giving up 60% of what your profit would of been.

p.s so far its Xbox 3 dlcs, Pc 2 dlcs & Ps3 0 dlcs. thats just my 2 cents.

Are any entertainment attorneys following this issue and/or this forum? It's time to take some formal action. This is ENOUGH!!!
They are going to keep crapping on us until we make them stop.
They represented an ability to create and sell a version of Skyrim that would would perform on the PS3 as it was intended to perform, and promised technical support and add-on content for the PS3 just the same as they provided for any other platform. They have completely, utterly, and egregiously FAILED in these promises, MISREPRESENTED what the game would do and the support they would provide, and arguably committed fraud against the PS3 users in accepting our money for a product that has never performed as advertised. PERIOD!!!!!

And the ps3 version was a laggy piece of [censored].

to be honest, bethesda should just admit,

We are biased towards the 360, and have no plans to release ANY patches/bugfixes/dlcs for the ps3.

A couple of posts regarding petitions and/or boycotts have gone away. We don't allow discussion of such on this forum for anything at all.

There is no need for petitioning here. That's what facebook and open forums are for.

I think ppl need to have far more patience. This isn't any ordinary problem that Betheda has to deal with. they have stated several times that they are not giving up and getting the DLC to the PS3. If they give up they will tell us, If they succed they will tell use. But a detailed update wouldn't hurt. Besides all the complaining, you ppl hunger for TES and that is why you are upset, understandable....

Right, it's not an ordinary problem...

because it's been going on for almost 6 years.

Is that because Beth have [censored] up and are ganna lose a lot of customers?
Are they worried that their lack of communication is going to hurt their business?
They should be worried. I still haven't bought dishonored, and I won't buy anything with Beth's name on it because of the way they run their company. It is honestly a disgrace.

Oh that sounds like so much fun. I traded that game in a while ago though because I reached platinum and 100% on The Pitt.

What did I trade it in for?

....Skyrim.

No, that is their policy and has been their policy for years.

Again, there are open forums elsewhere that you can do this. I would agree with them though, it's not something you want on their site. This place serves as another form of advertisemant, and you don't have lists of petitioners and boycotters on their advertisemant. It's bad business. That's why we have this quarantine thread.

Excellent! The new DLC has been announced and a spiffy trailer to showcast the exciting new release! The best part? Available for Xbox on Dec. 4 for 1600 MS points!

No.. wait.. that didn't come out as intended. Let me try again..

Bethesda, here's my love letter to you.. not that you give two red shiny cents about a lone PS3 user's voice.

As a lover of the series (and I truly am) I don't understand what in the fluffy green fields of hell the issue is with your inability to get ANY DLCs to the PS3. I've read all the comments about the difficulty to work with the system, all the information about working with Sony to correct "problems", waited and was patient for any news, went through the stages of grief, and now learn that yet another DLC is to be released (hand over fist) to a favored system. Now, my copy of Skyrim works great. Very few issues overall. How is it that many companies can make great games and release loads of DLCs (sometimes exclusive to the system, might I add!) and yet you struggle? I've remained supportive then decided to walk away after waiting to embark on other things. A third DLC, rip-ready to go, and not an official word since (gulp) August 30 concerning the first one for PS3?

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Methinks your shoddy ability to communicate with your PS3 fans is epic-fail status. Just tell us you are too inept to release to the PS3 and be done with it. At least this way I can understand what the future holds for the company and decide when the next generation consoles come out make a purchase based on gaming line-up. I've owned both current generation systems, and with no intention to begin a console war, prefer the PS3 for personal reasons.

Great series though! Just need to work on.. well.. a lot.

Yours truly,
A fan who didn't purchase Dishonored, and won't buy anything else under the label Bethesda until stuff changes.

Cheers, Bethesda!

I thought they might put out a "we're working on it" statement today just so they can say they are giving updates. It seems that every time Bethesda releases a bit of information it comes with many more questions. Today, the new DLC with what appears to be XBOX exclusivity.

June 26th. That's when Dawnguard was released to XBOX under a 30 day exclusive contract. One has to believe that they had been working on the PS3 version prior to this date. So, if they started working on the PS3 version on June 1st, they have gone 5 months with NO progress? And the one big update that was given 2 months ago was simply to say it doesn't work well and "This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve". I don't think it's unreasonable for a company to put out something, anything, after that amount of time other than "we are working on it".

Pretty much at this point I don't expect any DLC to be released from Bethesda for PS3. Much like Oblivion, I foresee another company compiling the game into a GOTY edition and releasing it after all the smoke clears (a year or more down the road). At this point, Bethesda can go pound sand in my eyes. Yes, I bought and already played Skyrim. Am I entitled to the DLC? No, but with some opinions.. As a gamer you would expect a company to evenly give thought and attention to systems they release for. In this case they decided to release for 3 platforms. Now, I may be a bit of an expectant person, but it is within my right to think that this being the case each platform would be catered to equally. On one hand I'm glad to see Microsoft's payoff for timed-contect was well served. Xbox got exclusives over PC (hmm..Microsoft anyways???) and PS3 hasn't gotten squat. Money well spent, idiots! On the other hand it's much like a slap in the face to basically see "hey look! Another DLC on the way for Xbox very soon! Come see! Come see!".. and showcasing yet more content I personally think we won't see in addition to the first two.

Actually, 4J only ported the base game. The GOTY Edition was just the two DLC's (out of 5?) bundled into the main game. Those DLC's were not ported by 4J, hence why the GOTY edition is messier than the base game.

PC users will get a release date for Dragonborn most likely in the coming weeks, followed by a release week or so after Xbox. Of course this is just a guess, as for PS3 only god knows at this moment.
