Post » Sun May 20, 2012 6:04 pm

Heh, Phenom can't eat SkyBoost ?
I have very close config and the same problem (only my video is stronger and CPU weaker).
Config/OS/Game:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 / 8Gb RAM / GeForce GTX 560 1Gb
Win7 x64 Ultimate SP1 / Skyrim ver. 1.3.10.0

In Whiterun:

R3: 17 FPS
R4 SSE2: 20 FPS

Pretty good.

Running an i7-740QM and GTX 460M.

i've made a graph comparing r3, r4 sse2 and r4 fpu, all with enb mod and r4 fpu without enb mod.

you can find it here:

http://the-x-ray.de/skyboost_r4.png

the fpu setting increases the fps a lot more on a phenom x4 cpu.

Fireballs cause crashes? Interesting. I have noticed my game freezes very often when I'm fighting mages - literally just as they're casting a spell. I just guessed it was because I use ugrids=9, reloaded, and tried again. Never had it happen twice in the same place. But it has only been happening since I started using r4...

I might try switching down to r3 and seeing if I can replicate the issue. Just to see if it's SkyBoost or my own computer.

No crash on my end with the Alex save game, casted like 200 fireballs and played for 15 mins, passed the room with mechanics blocking with objects. NO CRASH AT ALL.

1) kill the falmer in front of u using fireballs
2) go upstairs
3) play for 5 minutes and CTD shud occur
I played the save around 10-15 min and didn't had ctd. Using SSE2 version.

R4 SSE2 for me on my Q6600 starts out great but within an hour of play including a couple loads the game becomes unbearable studdering and horrible FPS so I have to restart.

Ok, I just spend severall minutes incinerating Windhelm's inhabitants with Fireball spells.
No crashes.

(Using r4 fpu on Phenom II x4 965, GTX460, 4GB ram, Win7 64bit)

Also definitely no problems with auto-/quicksave.

I have Phenom II x4 645 and no crashes with your save. Maybe you have unstable hardware, bad ram, etc.

Awesome job, thanks a bunch! Tested in an area outside Falkreath:

R3 - 47FPS
R4(FPU) - 52FPS

Phenom 2 x4 3.6GHz, GTX 570, 8GB Ram.

While we're at it (and I've only tested the FPU version, so no results to report back yet), any INI tweaks to get some speed?. I mean, I don't care losing textures, model details, or anything, if I double my fps playing on 320x240, then so be it.

Btw it seems I get about the same performance on r3 and on r4, gotta test a little bit more.

Rancem, of course, this is the first, what anyone can say :)
But, 20 years in working with computer hardware give me a right to expect, that I build and set up my computer well.

EDIT - Well, I was not going to post anything, apparently I hit a button.

So I will take this opportunity to thank you Alexander. This will be in hight demand when the heavy cpu mods hit the floor :D

END EDIT

That doesn't have to be SkyBoost. Could be an old issue since Morrowind. That's why there always was a cell purge/buffer purge addon since Morrowind. It's an issue in all GameByro Bethesda games (Morrowing, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas). With time all of these games were full with "junk" and the stuttering began, which is where the purge addons came in, they purge the "junk" periodically.

And since there's no CreationKit for Skyrim out yet, there's no purge addon.

What's your video card and video settings? How much RAM do you have? Do you get this issue in Vanilla?

So, what is the reason Skyboost adds stuttering and TESVAL doesn't? And has the development of TESVAL been ceased?
