SOPA, PIPA, ACTA and other assorted Internet censorship.

Isn't that kinda a political discussion?!

I don't want this thread to be locked, but I'm still wondering why my thread was locked.

Acta is an international trade agreement. IT IS WORSE THAN SOPA AND PIPA. The U.S. and Japan have already signed it. Help spread the word about this threat to internet freedom.

It's this use of silly acronyms that need to be stopped.

America, Cut The Acronyms.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't surfers paradise where the three big sewage pipes are? Might be Bondi, I haven't been to a big beach for a while.
I hope not or the smell would be terrible :o

Kind of but because these acts affect the whole internet and our freedom to use it, the mods are being lenient about them - so long as the don't dip right into more unrelated politics.
Yours was locked because it was directly poltical and for some there would have been no avoiding the political aspect of it.

The only plus about ACTA is that they are using the correct terminology.

The use of the word "Software Piracy" is incorrect in about 99% of all cases. They are not pirating (stealing) anything, they are making and selling counterfeit copies of software. They are (the significantly less dangerous sounding) Software Counterfeiters, not pirates.

The people need to be informed of this. I'll assemble the people of Ontario under the big tree in the exact center of our province.

Its an international agreement basically outlawing any "potential" copyright infringement. So basically a [censored] excuse for the government to regulate the internet.

And with ACTA, The very concept of Open Source will be grounds for imprisonment without trial.

You know what? I changed my mind about having kids. To have kids in this era is punishing them. In about a few decades we wont be able to do much of anything anymore ~_~.

Seems like everyday corupt, geedy, and evil corporations keep trying to pass bills like this. They can turn the world into one big evil police state and people will still pirate and hack.

Wel its to late for us we already signed a free trade agreement with the US years ago, and we got screwed over right royally, in it are the protection of the copyright and patent laws for the US.
