While this looks visually impressive, do you have a performance option?

Even on a 4.6ghz i7 with 2x480gtx 1.5gb gpus, ssd hd, 8gb ram etc running things in 3d is starting to cause slow downs from normally smooth 60 fps with all these ultra high res mods.

So far personally I've not noticed any slowdown due to SMIM, and I definitely have a much slower pc.
Might be you are using too many HD texture mods on top of it?

Although I guess that if I spawn 2000 apples now in the console there might be a difference...

Since you've all been so good, I now give you http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/8655-1-1329457721.jpg! All done from scratch...mesh and texture. For those who say it looks too healthy, well, it looks exactly like the real tomato I had sitting on my desk. Why must Skyrim inhabitants only eat sickly tomatoes? Is they worst gardeners evar?! But yes...maybe I'll make a rotting version too...

(Btw, the default tomato had terrible seams...it was scary...my tomato has almost zero seams, since I used the magic of 3D painting and proper UV mapping.) Gotta say I love 3D painting textures, makes me feel l33t.

This tomato looks so good - I am getting hungry

Yeah running lots of mods plus the dlc so I guess they are all adding up. I think the 3d takes a big percentage of performance, so I might have to consider getting rid of some of the texture packs now until the next batch of mega gpus are released.

Them tomatoes look good, but they're awfully bright red. Even if it is realistic, maybe a duller red would be better. I don't think anything else is the entire game is that bright red, so it really stands out.

[Edit] But oh gods, you are right about how awful those vanilla tomatoes look. I would never eat anything that gross and wrinkly.

Your slowdown issue isn't due to SMIM. Your machine is better than mine and I get ZERO impact with SMIM. The only setting I have off is ambient occlusion in the nVidia control panel. That destroys my performacne regardless of mods or not. Anyway, Skyrim HD was WAY, WAY more of an impact than my mod. High res textures slow the game down way more than high-polygon counts.

As said above, high res textures slow the game down way more than high-polygon counts. You can throw an extra 80,000 polygons at the game and have no impact, but you put some 4096x4096 textures on the buildings, and then you often get stutters and other FPS drops.

Yeah, Bethesda made the tomatoes very bright. I was going to reduce but even the vanilla ones are bright. Maybe I'll lower it a bit more. But I did a test today with real tomatoes and sure enough they are the brightest objects in a room.

Heh well that is a pretty damn nice tomato. I think in reality they would have had [censored]tier tomoatos though, I mean the ones we get are grown indoors under extremely controlled environmental conditions. Theirs are subject to nature, and slow transportation. Then again, tomatos weren't known to be edible until the 16th century (in Europe). They also didn't have magic... so I can live with super nice tomatos lol!

Also I noticed the chains last night. Oh man do they look great! I was jumping into signs everywhere just to watch them swing. It was beautiful.

My parents grow tomatoes behind their house in very "natural" conditions, and many of them are nice and bright. I don't think modern cultivation is necessary for nice tomatoes.

hehe role-play that...when the guard asks you what you are doing, we need a dialogue option "I'm the Chief of Chain Standards, Riften Division, Imperial Federal Government. I'm here to help."

Haha yes. I would then have to have a little "chat" with the local black smith.

sixy. I wish my computer could run it all, lol.

On that note, does the NMM installer(havnt used NMM much) let you pick and choose which parts to install like a BAIN or OBMM? I was just thinking if it doesnt, and you ever felt like organizing it this much, you could split it into "Interior meshes" and "Exterior meshes" for people(like me!) who can spare FPS indoors but not outside or in cities.

Just an idea anyway, I wouldnt need it myself as Id just(and probably will later today) make a BAIN out of it manually.

There's a couple options. Mostly it boils down to the type of barrel you want, and whether you want the clothing fixes (if I recall correctly)

Hello again, mod updated to version 1.07. Tomato and http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/8655-1-1329691586.jpg added. Plus 39 more farmhouse http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/8655-1-1329715873.jpg. So much work to fix those...still have about 1/3 more to go for next version.

Version 1.07 February 19, 2012
  • Added all 39 interior farmhouse meshes, all with my UV fixes to eliminate the blurry wood beams. All that remains is the basemant meshes, exterior building meshes, and a few more walkway meshes.
  • Fixed various random UV and vertex color errors the interior farmhouse meshes had. About 10 fixes total.
  • Tomato added, a ripe, juicy one.
  • Baked potato updated to use my fancy potato mesh.
  • Fixed one more vanilla UV error in farmwell01.nif.

Hello,

your mod is amazing and i wholeheartedly support your efforts.

However, I have two comments:

a) The 3D-rings on the signs dont mix well with the leftover 2D ones - for example the first house in riverwood - a single 2D ring is holding the 3D ones :D Could you fix that?

B) Could you please consider fixing the stone models next? There are a lot of stones which are not round but should be. Especially in WHiterun you notice the horribly misshaped and mistextures large stones near the road.

Thanks!

Joe

Tnx for the continuous updates, glorifications of the pc version.

If you are accepting suggentions of higher polygon objects, can you try your hand in the necklaces and rings?

Oh yay! Some of the building meshes are fixed! I don't won't my pc to be brought to it's knees before all those ugly flat 2D building meshes have gotten the Brumbek treatment!

Glad you like it.

Version 1.08 is out. A few changes.

Version 1.08 February 23, 2012
  • Updated 38 of the interior farmhouse meshes to improve UV mapping.
  • Toned down the tomato's brightness.
  • Added Whiterun drawbrigde using real 3D rings. Warning, this increases the polycount by about 80,000.
  • Fixed bottom stump texture for furniture to not be super-bright since I forget to add black alpha channel to normal map. Thanks to JohnGreenArt for spotting this.
  • Added modified Skyrim HD Lite textures for the vanilla furniture I haven't improved. These textures were added to make all furniture have consistent textures with my SMIM meshes. Plus Skyrim HD didn't align the texture right so I fixed that. Per usual, you can use your own textures by installing your texture pack after SMIM and overwriting my files.
  • Added improved signrtpost01.nif for Riften that removes the really ugly black part of the mesh that made no sense...
  • Updated the loading screen mesh "loadscreenblackbriar01.nif" to use my new 3D rings. Plus I changed it to use the same wood texture the actual game does (and to fix ugly black wood part).
