The dawnguard questline allows you to become a VL?!

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:12 pm

This takes away the whole point of doing the vampire questline and also completely goes against the dawnguard faction you've joined!

Nope the most senseless is not giving us werewolves with lunar transformations! At least add them in and keep the Companions the way they are so people who do not want to have lunar transformations can stay the Companions strain.

They say that at the end of the QL, Serana can turn you into one.

No... We are talking about how after you complete the DG side of MQ Serana can still change you into a VL.

I think it's quite BS. There is no proper balance at all on choosing sides, the Dawnguard is obviously the clear winner, and Bethesda was quite bias towards them, it's BLATANTLY obvious. If it wasn't for Roleplaying, there would be absolutely NO reason to choose the Vampire side. I'll just quote what I posted on another thread, listing the perks/benefits/rewards of each side:

You guys are giving terrible examples, stop being so hard on him. This truely is an outrage.

Vampire Side Perks:

1) Vampire Lord
2) Blood Potions (Useless because nobody attacks at Stage 4 anymore.)
3) Death Hounds (equivalent of Huskies)
4) Vampire Lord Artifacts (Amulet/Ring that boost your powers slightly as a VL. I'd say this is equivalent to the Dawnguard's Crossbow Upgrades.)
5) 1 Unique Restoration Spell

Dawnguard Side Perks:

1) Vampire Lord (That's right, they BOTH get it.)
2) Ability to Smith and Purchase every Crossbow and Bolt type...something the Vampires can't do even for regular Steel Bolts
3) Armored Trolls
4) Huskies (equivalent to Death Hounds)
5) 5 or so Followers
6) Crossbow Upgrades to Enhanced Cross, Dwarven Crossbow, Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow, Steel/Dwarven Bolts of Exploding Frost/Fire/Shock. (Equivalent to Vampire Lord upgrades, I'd say.)
7) Runed Shield and Warhammer
8) 3 Unique Restoration Spells

Hell, both sides even get to blot out the sun. So let's see here...it looks like Bethesda was quite biased towards the Dawnguard, or is it just my imagination?

So wait, we're not allowed to complain that Vampires don't have a practical way of obtaining Ammo for our non-upgraded Crossbows? By that logic, the Dawnguard shouldn't be able to turn into Vampire Lords or blot out the sun.....OH WAIT.

Yeah, it is quite messed up, indeed.

I'm not asking for Vampires to be able to upgrade their crossbows or bolts....but we should be able to, at the VERY LEAST, craft simple Steel Bolts. It is a new weapon for goodness sakes that was the one of the MAIN FLAGSHIP FEATURES of the DLC. Dawnguard side gets Vampire Lords without the artifact upgrades...so why can't Vampires be able to craft bolts without the upgrades? It's only fair.

Again, BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that Bethesda was very biased towards making the Dawnguard more desirable.

I did read the thread it says questline which could mean he is in the middle or end. I simply stated that you can't do quest's for them regardless if you ever become a vampire. Meaning sidequests like getting better xbow's or finding better dawnguard plans, they will always tell you to go to Isran then he will tell you to go get cured regardless of where you are in the story.

Affliction? I take it you haven't seen how strong they are ha.

I just think it should be exclusive to the vampire questline, like crossbows (other than steel) and bolt crafting is to the dawnguard.

I agree wholeheartedly like http://www.gamesas.com/user/739491-virtuosus/ said it's blatantly obvious the dawnguard are the more powerful.

Aren't the special artifacts like the crown that lets you choose another standing stone VL only?

No, that's a side quest having to do with The Aetherium Wars book, both sides have access to those.

I am now playing the Vampire side after finishing the Dawnguard side. spoilers of course:

I can honestly say that I only got the option to turn into a vampire before entering the Soul Cairn with Serana but maybe that is because she was able to cure herself from vampirism at the end of the quest.

Another perk to add to the vampire side is maybe having the 'cattle pen' in the castle to feed on.

It's not really a perk, I almost didn't bother putting blood potions because feeding has no point anymore, and you can just as easily feed on a follower.

Well, from a roleplay perspective you are betraying the dawnguard by becoming a vampire. Serana as a follower is a reward you get either way, and that comes with her.

Is kinda weird they would allow that though.

I did note that "If it wasn't for Roleplaying, there would be absolutely NO reason to choose the Vampire side." but I agree. It's not like I WON'T play on the Vampire side...I just think it was poorly executed on Bethesda's part, especially the whole Crossbows being DAWNGUARD ONLY. At the very least, Vamps should be able to make Steel Bolts, or steal schematics to make Steel Bolts, no upgrades...just regular steel bolts.

Everybody on the general forums prior to the beta was under the impression that crossbows and bolts wouldn't be faction exclusive, and that Vampire Lord and blotting out the sun WOULD be faction exclusive....funny how it was the other way around instead.

Can't have choices and consequences, man!
Someone out there would be really ticked if he found out he can't be a demonic vampire overlord that hunts vampires as his dayjob. And we can't have that!
What's that? Tell him to knock it off and stop being a [censored] idiot, and to have logical and reasonable character scenarios?! Nah, let's cut back on EVERYONE ELSE'S REALISM to accomidate him instead.

More people would complain about lunar transformations than the way the companions have it set up.

I mean seriously.

Lunar transformation: Only being able to transform on the full moon(whenever that happens in game), and/or being forced to transform at random times. Which would be worse if you were in the middle of an important quest.

Verses

Companion Transformation: Being able to transform whenever you want without it being ridiculously inconvenient, or screwing up quests.
