That was never a technical feature - just a rule. Which I'm pretty sure is still in place.
I think that auto-save feature does what it says on the tin... at least I hope it does. So many times - I've been writing a post only to press the backspace button and lose the whole thing.
Guess I'll find out if it gets saved next time that happens.

Nope they're still locking them at 200 posts. Autosave saves what you have in the reply box for some reason, I'm not sure why though lol.

I just use the posting option at the bottom of the page instead of actually hitting "Reply", that way I get unlimited.

I suspect they are still working on the system, and are using our 'feedback' to adjust things.

Overall I think that the new skin looks nice, however, as has been said, the font is just a bit too small and I dislike the lack of a joindate and the yellow edit text.

Also, as with the last re-skin, I don't actually know why it needed to be changed. It worked fine.

And the lack of knowing who is/isn't viewing a thread bugs me.

One thing I notice is that the image tags work in the "pre-post" but if you try and post it you end up with a lot of text instead.

None of the .gif avatars work for me. Maybe in time they will
Multiquote is right next to Quote - you have to hover over the bottom of a post for it to appear.
