The new skin, thread 2

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 10:13 am

Having trouble reading light text on dark background :(

If you click "Change Theme" on the bottom you can switch to the white theme with black text.

Can I have my option to just use the default IPB white/blue skin back?
There used to be an option in settings that allowed me to just used the default skin. It's boring but efficient.

I love it! While I was really loudly objecting when last change had happened, this one is surely from worse to better. I miss few things like filters, drop-down jump to menu and "Bethesda forums > Oblivion > Oblivion Mods" (for example) links at the bottom, drop-down skin menu (found this), users reading and posting in this topic.
Once I AdBlock background pictures, forum looks and performs very good.

While http://web.archive.org/web/20041217044539/http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/ is still my favourite, this one is not bad at all!

Edit3: striked out things I found.

Is anyone else frustrated that the signature text isn't any smaller than the post text?

I swear Exorince mentioned once that he was able to hide the pinned threads. He needs to share his secrets with the rest of us.
Maybe he'll share in his UI tweak addon

Where are the users?

Are we meant to navigate the forums completely oblivious to each other?

I seem to have a problem with posts getting automatically marked as read, without reading them. Happened once in the Elder Scrolls Lore forum, when I noticed the "go to first unread post" button was sending me to the last post of the thread, even though there were a bunch before it that I hadn't read. Refreshing the forum then showed there were no unread posts, despite not having read them all. The same thing just happened again in the Past Elder Scrolls Games forum.

This is making it very hard to keep up with forum posts, if I can't actually get to the first unread post without a lot of back tracking and searching.

They really need to pin the toolbar back onto the screen, I can't think of a valid reason to take it away as it is a very useful tool and saves scrolling to the top of the page.
The "Back to Top" button at the bottom of the page clips with the "All trademarks and trade names are properties of their respective owners." line.
The contents page isn't very clear anymore - I can't see which posts I've read/not read.

Least my gif and shiny stars are back :)

Is it just me or is CD very slow atm?

I don't like this new skin. IP board looks awful to me.

I hated that thing. Kept blocking the view of the top of the window even though I'm more than capable of scrolling up to get to it (quite annoying when you jump to the latest post, but that damn toolbar is perfectly covering the post header, including the poster's name). Especially when you use it so infrequently, there's little reason to keep it in your face all the time. Easily one of the best changes the update has brought.

I am disappointed. I use mobile view exclusively and the forum has gone from looking round and smooth to blocky and garish, with Sharp lines and stark changes in bold colours.

My main upset, though, is that in this overhaul nobody thought to add the report button to mobile view and, instead, I am now unable to view spoilers on my Android. Feels like a step backwards.

Sorry for the negative review. I really to like updates and improvements but I just can't appreciate this one.

I don't mind the new forum for the most part. Mainly, my only complaints have already been voiced: small text, the super highlighted edited messages, and no way to jump to certain pages.

And ya'lls avatars aren't moving for me... with the exception of one that was for a single post, but the second post from the same user had a stationary icon - very odd. I also don't see any spaces on either side of the forum (though I'm on a rather small monitor I suppose). Are these issues maybe browser specific?

It kept blocking the headline of the topic, seriously it appears at the top of your browser window - I can see that I am The new skin, thread 2 without even seeing the OP and the title. If the toolbar was hiding the hear you must have your window shrunk a rather lot since I have my window to 1/4 of max size and it never interferred with my activities. Ofcourse if you hardly use it, its not that big a deal - but some of use, me - use it a hell of a lot to jump between thread that may have been pushed back several pages or to another section within other section like - Going from CD > Scrolling up > Bethesda Forums > Fallout > New vegas tech issues > Xbox issues. That is a lot of page loading compared to CD > Toolbar > "My Content" > "x" thread in desired section.
Without the toolbar I'm needing to load 4 pages whereas with the toolbar I only load 2 pages to get to Fallout Xbox Issues. Easy access to threads is now a lengther process especially if you have a slow internet.

- I kinda went off tangent but speed is still the issue here regarding thread access: no scrolling > scrolling.

They need to tweak the fonts a bit, maybe the font that is in our reply page Beth?

Other than that, I think they should remove the post count, and keep the join date removed. It'll not only look better imo, people will stop caring about their post count outside of the stars so maybe they'll start thinking about what they put in their posts.

Last thing, the drop shadow (?) on the avatars has to go.

(?) That is drop shadow I'm assuming?

Spontaneously, I don't like the new look. With time I will get used to it without a doubt, but the font size is indeed quite small. In addition, the edit text.. why is it yellow? And it seems some of the emoticons have changed, for example the very basic : and D smile looks different than before. (just pointing that out)

Would be grateful for some help. I can't work out how to post links as other text, rather than just the address. Thanks.

You have to switch your edit mode (the top left of the editing toolbox, to the left of "Font") to show BBCode. Then you do:

[url='www.google.com']Text[/url]

The codebox is just so it doesn't become a link and you can see the code.

Hmm, quite surprised when I come again to the forums, clean look, but the fonts are a bit small, should make it bigger and easier for the eyes. The "member since xxxx" have been removed and put inside the profiles, well I guess I need to get used to it. But I like the quick reply, seens better with bigger fonts. In the end, I still hope that Beth would bring the font size of the posts up.

Icky. Don't like the fonts, don't like the size changes, don't like the layout. But then I always hate forum changes on every forum that update, so I imagine I'll get used to it.
