The Thalmor deserve better

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:17 am

Thanks to their racist bent, even a high elf character wouldn't fit their rather stringent eugenic requirements to be anything more than a grunt. And once they realize just what the Dragonborn means... well then you're a threat regardless of your opinions on the Thalmor.

All in all... the Thalmor is enemy to all who aren't Thalmor.

What is the Dragonborn?

The Dragonborn is the personification of the sacred pact between Alessia and Akatosh, in essence, a pact to keep the Mundus on going. The Thalmor see the Mundus as a prison, and a return to the pre-creation state to be an escape. Others assert that the pre-creation state was a prison, and the Mundus is a necessary step to become something even greater. Shor/Lorkhan failed deliberately to show how not to fail, and Talos actually succeeded.

And the Thalmor just hate the fact that a human beast succeeded at that. The Thalmor have have mythopoeic tall poppy syndrome, basically.

The Thalmor need to die-all of them.

They have a way of winning, through manipulation and burtaility. The Thalmor claim they were the ones who closed the gates of Oblivion in their home land . They have stated Talos is not a God, but have not explained that if he is not a god, then how was the Oblivion Crisis overted then.

Then they go on and say its impossiable for a man to become a god, OK, explain then WTF happened to Martin then. Oh, wait that must have been an illusion.

The Emperor is a moron he played right into the Thalmor's hand and now the people of the Empire are paying the price. The Thalmor want to rule all of Tamerial, well there doing just that, now. The only diffrence is its not offical and many people are in full swing of rebellion against them (raises hand).

The only thing the Thalmor deserve is a slow death, I'm sure the Falmer could come up with numerous ways to see that happen.

It was because of the Thalmor that some poor High Elf in Riverwood is sleeping alone.

Stand with us and prosper

That goes only to the traitors who help them. As for the rest of the average citizens, read up on what the nazi and japanese did to people they conquered.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanking_Massacre
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust

And those are human acts to other humans. What will be the fate of humans and the beast races were the Thalmor to rule?

I believe that the Thalmor have the right idea as far as ruling Tamriel goes. They have proven to be the most organized and powerful governing body in all of Tamriel. They brought the Empire down, and now almost everyone is forced to follow their orders. I believe that a strong and ruthless governing body would be most effective given the history of TES. I think that all of the city states should belong to the Thamlor.

I'm in the minority about who I support but I stand by it. Stand with us and prosper, stand against us and die.

I hate thalmor, they oppose my fictional religious views. As far as goverment goes they appear to kill anyone who doesn't agree with them, subjugate the "lesser" races, and torture people based on religious differences

Also as to why they didn't help alduin, they want the world to end on their terms, if it doesn't it will just start right back up following the same path as this one

The point I was trying to get across was that in the type of society that exists in Tamriel, the Thalmor are most fit to rule and keep the people safe (so long as they obey the laws). Free society wouldn't work when there are hundreds of dragons flying around, attacking individual cities and settlements. There must be one strong governing body, and the Empire simply isn't fit to do so. Mainly because they allow flexibility and various forms of "human rights" in times like these.

In times of crisis, even in the United States the C&C can declare a state of martial law. Having absolute control of your people in a time like this is necessary. Also, just because you side with the Thalmor doesn't mean you're a traitor...you just chose the proper side for the "greater" good. Convenience gets thrown out the window when survival is at stake.

Keep in mind that my most recent character is a Thalmor Justicar, the more I thought about it...the more it made sense.

Thalmor are fascists who's ultimate goal is the extermination of the races of Man. No, I don't support them regardless what side in the rebellion I choose for a character.

This is an example when I do not agree with the might makes right argument. The Thalmor are more heavy handed than any other body, and with that comes rebellion. The Storm Cloak rebellion is bad already, but if the Thalmor have control over Tamriel for many years... they won't be able to cut down all those people. They would be facing revolts everywhere. There are not enough High Elves and mercenaries to stop every rebel...

It's not so much that they're particuarily powerful, just that the empire did not see the attack coming, and were unprepared. It was completely unexpected.

the blades warned the Empire way before thye struck......the Empire chose to ignore the warnings....

Pretty much this. The goal of the Thalmor is not to 'protect' or govern, it's to utterly exterminate everyone who's a: not Thalmor and/or b:doesn't agree with them.

Seeing as how I've failed to gain any support here, honestly answer this question.

Dragon attacks, who would you rather have at your back. The Empire, Stormcloaks or the Thalmor?

Honestly think about it, and tell me who is best fit to take that dragon down with you. I don't see how either the Empire or Stormcloaks can be more effective than the Thalmor.

On that note, I'm going to go lay some justice on some Talos worshippers. Goodnight all!

People should not be afraid of there government. Governments should be afraid of there people. Your anology is [censored] as the Thalmor ceased power after the oblivion crisis was over. Later they executed the former rules of the Summerset Isles.and took complete control. There is no evidence they can provide safety and security better then the Emprie. They took power in Valenwood by staging a coup and started purging out anyone who opposed there rule. They engage in whole sale slaughter of there fellow elves.(including High Elfs) over a matter of purity. And they'll likely execute your character for being Dragonborn living evidence of Talo's might.

Provide a shred of proof the elves would be more effective at fighting dragons. They won the war because they manipulated there enemy. They severed ties between the Empire and Elswyer, drove the Argonians to attack Morrowind. They weakened the Empire politically by carefully manipulating the landscape before going to war. That tactic won't work on dragons plain and simple.

If a dragon attacked and Thalmor were near by I'd sit back and watch before killing off the victor.

I'm an atheist, and take a rather dim view on religion in general.
That's the spirit, kansalainen :goodjob:

Me, I still don't understand why people are taking the Thalmor's crimes so seriously when every other nation has done the same things when carving their empires. We hear a lot of Nord/Imperial/Talos "conquests", and "conquest" doesn't mean a hug fest it's extermination of the opposing side, maybe completely, and settling in yourself. The Nords did this for the Bretons in Western Skyrim for one, and thus were born the Forsworn.

The Thalmor is simply practicing Divide and Conquer tactics which are the most effective way for a small nation to dominate bigger ones. While I don't agree with the Thalmor's end-the-world plans I recognize that they will never achieve them but I think they deserve their place as a nation among nations.

Who doesn't? As I remeber you were being sent to headsman's axe with Ulfric for opposing the Imperials. I just call it brilliant strategy by the Thalmors. They're not a dominant race for nothing. Victory in a war involves a lot scheming and ploting. You think Winston Churchil played a huge part in WW2 because he was a natural born warrior. No it took brilliant schemes and plots to lead the allies to victory.

What strategy by the Thalmor's they had nothing to do with what happened at Helgen.

And none of that scheming and ploting will do any good against the dragons. Political manuveering won't do any good.

Exactly. So what government presented in Skyrim don't wipe out factions that opposes them? If they have the means any Government would do it.

And none of that scheming and ploting will do any good against the dragons. Political manuveering won't do any good.

Who said I was arguing about your second point? Besides, you the Dovakin and the Blades are the only real effective dragon slayers in the Skyrim lore, so the argument for what government should govern Skyrim is really invalid in this post. As none of the presented government is an effetive dragon slayer.

I honestly thought that this thread wound willingly die... I was wrong.

Here it is: They aren't fit to rule because they want everyone dead but themselves. Sure their great fighters, sure they know how to make a lot of political pomp and circumstance, and their armor is very, very pretty, but they're still murderous psychopaths.

You know, post-kaiser Germany thought the Nazis were cool too, and the SS were great fighters and Hitler made great speeches... but they're still evil, and they still want you dead.

So who isn't in a war? Depends how you roleplay.I can understand why they want to stampede the worship of Tiber Septim known as Talos to the Nords, but what evidence are there from the writings of Thalmor that suggests the destruction of Tamriel and extinction of Human races? All presented race feel that their race is more superior to others. Thalmors is a little more obvious, because they have the bragging rights as the current most dominant government.
